Royal Enfield has announced the return of its BUILD.TRAIN.RACE. program for the 2023 racing season in MotoAmerica and American Flat Track, so if you're a woman with the desire to build a race bike and compete, now's the time to apply for a spot.
The BUILD.TRAIN.RACE. (BTR) program founded by Royal Enfield aims to foster more women in motorcycle racing by hosting a grid of roadracing and flat-track competitors in a class of their own at national-scale events. As the name suggests, each competitor builds a race-ready motorcycle from the provided stock Royal Enfield INT650 (for flat track) or Continental GT 650 (for roadracing). Then they get expert training in track and racing etiquette and compete against each other at selected rounds of the nation's premier racing leagues for both disciplines.
The two BTR programs will consist of 12 participants in each genre to compete in four total races in their respective series. New for 2023, American racing legend Freddie Spencer will be joining the program as mentor and riding coach to the roadracing BTR competitors.
Want to apply but not sure on what to expect? Two years ago I reported in depth on the BTR journey through the eyes of the racers themselves. Nearly every BTR racer describes the racing season as a transformative experience, full of trials and tribulations. Be warned, the BTR program is not for the faint of heart and it is a major commitment.
If you or a friend you know have the right stuff, apply for a spot in the program at the BTR website by the February 26 deadline.
