Great product, even if you don't use this as a cover alarm. I attached the alarm behind my headlight with Velcro and ran the clip down to the rotor. If the bike is moved about a inch the alarm sounds. Good deterrence.Louie

Worth $20 for the extra security. Very loud!!
I have my Gorilla Alarm , Disc lock, and bike cover with this alarm attached. Its a back up for the back up and when one fails to wake me up, hopefully the next alarm will and I can lock & load.
at 130DB this thing leaves your ears ringing. pretty simple and definetly worth $20. you dont need a dowco bike cover to use it. I have it attached to my bike and a non dowco bike cover. I like it. and i live in a city where bikes are stolen frequently, plus i have a shiny R1 that theives just love

Inexpensive and LOUD
I mean, for such a small investment, you get a lot of security. I pulled the pin in my apt to test and I was afraid my neighbors were going to call the cops (it was deafening). I bought this with the Dowco Guardian Weatherall Plus cover where there are multiple pockets to drop this sucker in. On my FZ-07, I put it in the front pocket and wrap and hook the lanyard around one of the spokes on the front wheel. Anyone pulling the cover off will be in for a real shock when that alarm goes off!

For $20, how can you go wrong?
$20 for an alarm like this? How can you go wrong? First off, it's LOUD! Really, for the size of the unit it's pretty impressive (or annoying, depending on how much you play with it before actually using it). It's simple, cheap, and will give some level of additional security. Can't go wrong for the price of a pizza.

Loud
It is a good alarm and very loud but their is no way to easily silence the alarm if the pin is out until you put the pin back in which is good for security but bad if if you accidentally pull it or pull it to test it so just be ready to shove that pin back in immediately.

Basic cover alarm
A nice basic alarm. It is disturbingly loud. It is fairly discreet as well. I live in the city and park my bike on the curb - when I am messing with the cover I can attach or disconnect the clip from my brake line in a smooth motion.

I have no doubt I'd be able to hear it anywhere in my house. If I am not home and it goes off, my awesome neighbors next door will be on the phone with the cops in about five seconds.

I am also considering installing it under the seat somewhere, running the alarm clip to a spoke (or something else that would have to move if the bike got messed with), and wiring up another hidden switch. That way I could use it without the cover, like if I park it somewhere in town for the day.

It requires a 9-volt battery (not included). It isn't the most beautiful object in the world, but who cares, it lives in a pocket on the inside of your cover.

Just a nice little extra peace of mind.

good alarm
I bought this as an additionnal security measure. It was inexpensive to purchase and if someone break my bike cover lock, I know the alarm will be my next line of defense. If the thief manage to get pass that alram, then he will be face with an Abus wheel lock and a big fat chain from Abus also. Since I live in the city, I think anything you can do to protect your bike is worth it.

Affordable alarm that works!
I've used this cover alarm for a few months and it's working well. On the inner/lower area of my rain cover for my bike, I have a pouch to place this alarm in. Just hook the provided lanyard/hook onto a part of your bike. As someone tries to lift the rain cover, it pulls the lanyard and alarm pin out, which activates the impressive alarm! This definitely turns heads when this thing goes off! I might buy another one for my patio sliding door to my home. For around $25, this alarm is worth it's weight in gold. Even if I do ever need to replace it, it's affordable enough to buy another one without regret.
