Fiberglass replacements
After 8000 miles on my carbon tipped VH mufflers they developed a "Drone" sound that ear plugs couldn't hide. After speaking with a rep from Revzilla it was suggested that I try new fiberglass wrap. I did and the old rumble is back. After looking at my original instructions for the pipes, it's recommended that you change it out every year or 10000 miles. Not hard. Couple of bolts and some scraping and your set. Wear gloves and use some light wire to hold the glass in place on the baffle.

Worked great!
I guess I'm one of the rare ones who doesn't like so much exhaust noise, so I used this to wrap around my exhaust insert. It didn't do enough, so I packed some down underneath and that did the trick. I feel like I have enough power to compensate for the small loss of power I have experienced.
Good product. So glad I found it on Revzilla! My friend recommended I use gloves to cut and work with it and I did.

Easy Install
This is the only thin fiber packing I could find, every thing else is too thick. This has a backing so no mess on you or itching, big big plus. Easy to cut. Sound louldness is the same but much deeper. I had no masking tape so compressed with fiberglass tape for install hoping it would burn off. When if it does and expands sound should be lower. Should have purchased masking tape, my mistake. I did tie front tightly with wire so it would not slip down and defeat the purpose.

My Triumph is just way too loud. I am hoping this will help quiet it down a bit.

New baffles come with tape to hold on the packing. What type of tape is this? Which tape should I use?

would this repack a pro pipe ?
A shopper on May 18, 2015
how many wraps?
A shopper on Aug 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's just one large wrap, maybe 18" x 18" approximately, and you have to cut it to fit your specific needs. Don't forget to wear gloves.
Do I need to purchase one of these for each pipe?
Shawn J on Jul 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No. I pack should have 2 "Pads". One for each baffle.
Make sure you wrap it tight for easier installation. Masking tape or scotch table will do. Don't go crazy with the tape. Use enough to secure the pad, it will burn off.
I have Vance & Hines 3" Round Twin Slash Slip-On Mufflers will this kit cover both baffles or just one?
Robert D on Oct 6, 2015
BEST ANSWER: There's plenty of material to cover at least 2 baffles. You'll probably have some left over.

At least this was the case with my V&H Straight Shots.
I have a V&H pro pipe on my 06 Street Glide. There is no packing in it. Is there supposed to be and if so where does it go?
A shopper on Sep 24, 2015
BEST ANSWER: This Packing is used for replacement or enhancement of the Baffle packing that may or may not be in the muffler. If your exhaust has a Baffle inside (normally you would remove it by removing the exhaust tip) it may have fiberglass wrapped around it for sound deadening. This wrap would be used to replace that wrap as it does degrade over time from the hot exhaust gasses. If you have a Baffle and it does NOT have a wrap and is a little louder than you want you can wrap this around the Baffle before reinserting it (it will help reduce the volume and add a little low end to the sound). You can hold the wrap in place with Scotch tape to keep it in place while you insert it back into the exhaust, it will burn off over time. If you have no Baffle you are running a straight pipe and this wrap will do nothing for you, it needs to go around or into a Baffle (depends on what it looks like as to how it is used). I have a set of Bassani Road Rage pipes (very similar style) on my 2014 Heritage and it took the db level down a couple points and reduced the raspy bite with a wrap around the Baffle. Hope that helps
