More oomph
I thought an 883 would be enough for me...I was wrong. Instead of buying a new bike I got this kit and had it professionally installed. It's overall quicker (obviously) and it made my exhaust (V&H grenades) sound a little deeper. I've had them on for about a week now and so far so good. I also sought to get the FuelPak3 to regulate.
My garage said they could've gotten the parts for me for a little cheaper so shop around.

Awesome kit/ Incredible power gains
I installed this on my 04 sporty and all I can say is WOW!!! kit was straight forward and a breeze to install, Just keep it like a clean room during install as Harleys hate dirt. I have put about 10k miles on my bike since install and she just keeps getting more powerful. If you plan on keeping your 883 I highly recommend installing this kit, rejetting or installing a fuel programmer and a nice set of pipes to get all that air out and you will not be disappointed.

Louder, faster, stronger
I had this installed by my mechanic and everything worked great! I was cruising with the best of them and I get a lot of compliments on how my bike sounds. That's until something rare happened, my heads ended up warping so I went through a tiring process of getting a new kit.
Needless to say, S&S sent one out after 5 months and my 14' Sportster is rocking again. He's still got kick. I'd recommend getting a tune and a better clutch if you're running stock.

The notes at the bottom of the big bore kit upgrade state that you will need to buy rocker box cover, carb, and intake gaskets. THe Gaskets are listed with the kit description, are those the correct gaskets mentioned? What Carb part would I need? I've picked out the rockerbox cover, but the way the kit reads, are those absolutly needed?
I also have a question about the Roland sands Venturi Ronin air cleaner. What adjustments will I need to make if I install that?
I have never done any upgrades to a bike, but I have worked on a bike in the past, I will have knowledgeable help when doing this, I just need to know what all to buy.

BEST ANSWER: Roger V: The gaskets that come with the kit are base and head gaskets. Since you are removing the heads you need to remove the valve covers (rocker box) and the intake manifold and exhaust pipes therefore you will most likely need to replace all these gaskets. since you are not changing the heads you can reuse the valve covers. The carburetor will need to be rejetted or replaced since the displacement is increased and therefore the airflow. If a fuel injected biked model the ECU will need reprogramming and perhaps new higher flow injectors will be required.
Are these small fin cylinders like 2003 and earlier or big fin like 2004 and later ?

I have the 2016 iron , i would like to know if I need to buy an aftermarket coil and bigger plug wires for this kit to run properly?? Any help is greatly appreciated .

BEST ANSWER: Roger V: Ignition voltage and energy requirements are largely dictated by the density of gas in the spark plug gap and the gap distance itself. Since the compression ratio is not changing significantly and I assume you will keep the same spark plug gap no ignition system changes should be required.
i have a 97' 883. do they state what kind of jetting is needed or change stothe carb?

BEST ANSWER: There is no preset jetting you can install, every engine is different and it's trial and error. You are safest bringing bike to a dyno and letting them rejet so your air / fuel ratios are correct and you do not run too lean and melt down your expensive engine.
ALONG WITH THE 883 TO 1200 CONVERSION KIT IS IT WISE TO INSTALL A SMALLER SIZED BELT DRIVE SPROCKETS FRONT AND BACK TO GET MORE SPEED OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. iF SO HOW CAN i ACCOMPLISH THIS?

BEST ANSWER: You run a Harley with a belt drive, it's not like the old chain drives where you would drop a tooth in one or the other sprockets. With all the Extra Horsepower that comes with this kit you will get if you properly re jet your Carb or put a tuner on your fuel injection, install a high flow airfilter, replace the restrictive exhaust and hold on it will have plenty of power throughout all speeds. It is a fantastic kit, turns your peppy bike into a beast.. highly recommend
I have a 2008 Sportster and is this hard to change what else do I have to buy?
