Great cruising helmet
First off, thanks RevZilla for making a helmet choice seemingly painless. This was a seeing choice for me after trying the Bell with MIPS. I have a slightly large noggin and the bell was not only tight everywhere gut left a lot of my chin exposed. I sent it back with no problem and read the reviews on the street bandit. I needed a helmet that didn’t make me look a an extra on Star Wars, yet had the protection and comfort some of those alien fighter helmets provide.

The street bandit did just that. I ride an HD softail Deuce. I just want to sit upright and cruise, sometimes at high speeds without feeling like the helmet is going to fly off. And let’s be honest! Certain riders want a certain look. This helmet looks BADASS!! I purchased the matte black of course.

Anyway it fits like a true 2XL should. Good thinking on the lady of Simpson to supply the thinner cheek pads. For my head with a little well earned chubbiness it was a perfect fit. Ride with it for about an hour so it’s mine now! But I’m glad! Noise level was at a minimum but with these retro designs you have to allow for that. It wasn’t bad at all. And my bike is quite loud. The amount of vision is amazing. I feel like I’ve owned this helmet for years ! After a few more rides I’m sure it will fell even snugger. I recommend this helmet for anyone just wanting to get out, sit upright, ride and take in the view!!

A solid helmet with great safety certifications and good looks. With a good build quality and nice matierials. That’s about where the good stuff ends. Little to no creature comforts, minimal airflow, and decent vision make the street bandit not the best bang for your buck. If you like how it looks. Buy it. But you really gotta like how it looks. (Extra badass points)

Great helmet
So, my Simpson has hit the end it’s riding life. I have to admit, I beat the crap out of this thing and the shell is chipped and cracked. That said, I live on two wheels, so they weren’t easy miles. Between this and the Arai I spent double on, I usually rode with the Simpson.

Pros: Wide vision, extended chin bar, excellent style, and minimal airflow made it a great helmet for Portland/Seattle winters... I also rode with it in Florida during the summer and it might have been a touch warm, but never unbearable. You can also pop a pair of sunglasses on no problem! It’s also a blank canvas without sharp lines for whatever vinyl/art you want to throw on there. The Snell rating also made me feel pretty secure riding with it.

Cons: lost a screw out of my visor and had it flapping in the breeze on my way to work. If you wear it a lot in traffic (lot of opens/closes if it’s cold and you’re worried about your breath fogging you up), you’re going to want to remember to tighten things up about once every other week. The visor has a peg closure which can be a little less than ideal for keeping the wind out. The Velcro securing the cheek pads began peeling off after removing them a couple times. Chin bar vents are always open, but are covered in material on the inside, so they don’t really free-flow. I never got around to replacing the visor, but the stock one seemed to get scratched up on the top (out of FOV) just through regular use. There is no chin curtain. There is no rear vent. The front vents aren’t great and feel like you’re blow-drying your eyebrows. This also isn’t a quiet helmet, I always rode with earphones.

So, there are some cons to this helmet, that said, it was only recently retired and I’m probably going to replace it just because it did exactly what I needed it to and I can deal with the cons because that wide field of view is critical in dense traffic and the chinbar not being in licking distance definitely helps with the airflow inside when you’re trying to clear your visor. Also... it’s cool. That still counts for a bit!

Big ol' helmet
this helmet looks awesome aesthetically, I love it!

Unfortunately because of my smaller frame, (5'7/155lbs) this helmet looks absolute huge on me, but fits normally. Not necessarily a bad thing just something to be aware of if your on the smaller side.

Replacing the shields visor can be a hassle sometimes as the little pins like to pop out and roll everywhere. besides that I would highly recommend this helmet!

Good looking helmet
I really enjoy the aesthetic of this helmet. It's wide viewing angle makes it easy to see out of, and it elongated chin bar make my face feel a little less cramped.

There's decent airflow through the front of the mask, and the airflow through the top is pretty OK but neither really bothers me.

Also it's worth noting that the visor doesn't lift up as high as on other helmets which might annoy some.

Old School Helmet with a Modern Price.
This was my first helmet I got when I first got my Bike. The Dealership gave me a discount and a Gift Card for any gear I bought at their store. I got this helmet for the look and that's pretty much it.

The Bad:
- Really Noisy
- No Air Flow
- Face Shield doesn't stay up
- Have to unscrew then screw in a to replace Face Shield.
- Price
- I don't feel safe when I wear this helmet.

I replaced this helmet with an HJC RPHA 90 which is almost in the same price range but has tons of more features! Plus it's feels safer.

First helmet, Love it in white
Great helmet, clasp is nice and secure, feels very strong and has the fancy SNELL rating. Very comfortable and wide view but id take off half a star because it comes with a clear shield and not one of your choice (replacements arent cheap) and the white helmet chipped the first 5 minutes i had it because i smashed it against a chandelier when taking it off. All in all good purchase

Hard to beat Simpson
A little more expensive than some other similarly styled options, but you get what you pay for. A tick heavy, and a tick large looking, but the comfort and fit makes up for it.

«A true American legend!»
Let's face it - you buy this helmet if you ride an American V-twin and want the unique brand and style. Simpson has been around for ages and synonym with motor-sport. Okay, so apart from looking bad-a$$ you have superior protection with a SNELL M2 certified helmet - better than DOT!
You have to get a extra face shield unless clear is good enough... and switching shield is a breeze, the only tool you need is a quarter!
My only gripe is the top vents. Now, the rest of the helmet is top quality but I don't understand how Simpson missed this detail. The top vents work well in a "cage" (think Stock Car Racing) but not so much on a motorcycle. The top vents are made of rigid plastic and they flutter audibly even at 40mph
not to mention at highway speeds... Simpson, please fix this annoying design flaw!
Bottom line - be a part of the legend!

I chose this helmet because it looks great and will work best for the custom paint i'll be getting put on it. My buddy has 2 of them, and I've always been a fan of the mean look they have. Simpson also has a great reputation with quality. I ride a V-Max, and this style of helmet suit the muscle bike look perfectly.

I really like simpson helmets, but witch helmet made by simpson is best fit for glasses?
Roy A on Mar 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Rob, I recently purchased the Streetbandit and it gives me plenty of room for my glasses and bluetooth headphones. The only trick is putting the glasses on after the helment and remebering to take them off before you remove the helment, I normally wear a pair of large Aviator Sunglasses aswell and they fit just fine. Just another heads up I purchased the matte black helment and the paint has been chiped away by road debris , i can cover it up with a black sharpie but I wonder if the same would happen with a different finish. Hope this helps, enjoy the ride.
Do the XL 45mm cheek pads fit in a medium lid?
A C on Jun 4, 2017
Does the jutting chin cause a lot of drag, especially when the rider turns around?
A S on Nov 3, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Best I can explain it: yes, there is marginally more drag vs. other styles, but it's never really presented an annoyance to me. To the extent that I couldn't even answer your question immediately because I had to give it some thought.

I use this helmet and Biltwell Gringo, I find this helmet to have less chin lift/undercurrent than my Gringo.
How is this helmet in cold weather with the open vents in front?
A shopper on Apr 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: It's not too bad. I have a tendency to get extremely cold quickly even at 60 degrees or so. Only issue I have is it feels like the face shield doesn't close all the way and let's wind in more than the front vents do. Also with mine the top vents don't close. They flap open and closed like crazy when riding. Seeing as I get cold no matter the temperature, if it bothers me I'll just glue them shut.
Benefits of weight, fit, and style out weigh the cons in my opinion.
Can you use Bluetooth communication devices with this?
Tobin V on Apr 21, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can. Bluetooth devices are universal. You'll just want to avoid units with really thick speakers.
Is this allowed in australia?
Caleb C on Dec 27, 2016
Summer is here and I want to know how good it vents and does it run true to size? I wear a Biltwell Gringo XL that fits very loose on me. Should I go with the medium or large?
Alex F on Jun 21, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The venting on the helmet is really great. I live in Los Angeles and we've been in the high 90s for a week now and I've had no issues. As far as the sizing goes I have a huge head and went from a XXL bell rs1 to the simpson in large. I did have to change out the cheek pads for the smaller ones that came with it since I have a fat face. Hope this helped.
I really like the helmets from simpson. But I wear glasses, do glasses fit comfortably inside a simpson helmet?
Thanks in advance.
A shopper on Mar 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: They fit great. I have the street bandit and wear glasses that have a large plastic frame every day. The helmet is snug and fits great, but doesn't feel like it will bend your glasses up at all.
Does this helmet run true to the size chart? I wear a 7-1/8 hat size which equates to a MD in the size chart for this helmet.
A shopper on May 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I usually wear larger sizes in helmets/hats too and I was a little unsure of the Simpson sizes, but I got mine based on the measurements of my head and the Simpson table and i have to say it fits perfectly.
Does the helmet come with a visor?
A C on Apr 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, clear. I would recommend buying a tint visor. For looks and the ease of swapping them out. However it's not bad either while wearing sunglasses. I wear a pair of ray bans and there isn't an annoying pressure on the sides of any kind.
