I love these tires...but something strange on last set.....
Let me start this by saying.. Overall, I LOVE these tires. I am on my third set. (I never needed to change the front but I do em both anyways ) I have gotten over 4000 miles on the rears...easy. I am on a KLR650. I had put Mefo Explorers on ($175 a rear!! )becuase they were supposed to be so good... I got 3000 miles and rear was shot...and I never really felt them to be that great anywheres. I did tons of reading reviews...and saw the Shinkos got great reviews and were about the CHEAPEST tire I could find... And let me say...WOW...I put em on, and instantly liked em better then the Mefos. Great on road (I don't do much peg scraping on my big KLR)....and love em on the forest roads and such... However...strange, I got done with a 3500+ mile trip...had just put brand new tires on front and rear. Near the end of the trip...I recall doing a real quick look at the front..and I was surprised it showed NO wear.... Once I got home and I did a better inspection...come to find that the direct CENTER lugs showed NO wear...still had the indicator grooves all healthy....but the OFF center lugs were worn down bald..NOT chunked off, I could tell they WORE. I thought maybe because I had alot of tail weight with my pack and such they just wore funky... . Now I have a new front on, and it seems to be wearing the same way...the OFF center lugs (not the furthest to the sidewall...but not the dead center lug) seem to be wearing substantially more/first. Anyone else see this ? Either way....for the price, I STILL am staying with these tires... I could swap a front when half worn..and still do better that more expensive tires. REVZILLA is awesome to deal with...and very cool when I called to ask if they had heard of this before.

I attached a picture..if you all can see it. This is only got about 500 miles or so on it, but you can see already how some of the more outer lugs are wearing...while the center ones still look fresh. My air pressure is spot on....I dont air down ever. I am not 2 up...and not weighted by any gear or panniers.

Shinko 244 on rear
My first Shinko 244 rear tire lasted 8,400 miles on my KLR 650. This mileage was acheived on 30% gravel, 60% pavement and 10% off road. This was 2600 miles longer than the OEM Dunlop rear tire. The Shinko 244s are a good buy and give excellent service and traction on the KLR 650.

The ultimate bang for the buck DS tire
Like so many others, I bought these as a cheap burn through tire only to find myself loving every mile! Traction on pavement is good, even in the rain I've had no issues. It gets a little marbely a highway speeds, but every DS tire I've ever ran does that and these do it less than most. Off road I've had them in everything from sand to mud with acceptable results, especially considering the price and modest knobbies. At 70% pavement and 30% off road the wear is exceptional. I have 4,200 on my current set and they are no where near time to replace.

Great tire
I threw these on my wr250x because I'm too cheap to buy dirt wheels. They offer more than enough traction in the dirt and the street when dry, wet is a little iffy but not terrible. Overall, great compromise between dirt and street and AWESOME tread life.

Great Deal
Just mounted them and decided to see how far over a mountain summit I could get. Summit road had 8 inches of snow and 4x4 trucks could not make it to the top. I got to the top and down the other side. What a ride!!! Highway riding is smooth so this tire is a great buy.

Good Buy Golden Boys
The Shinko 244 Golden Boy is probably the best budget dual sport tire that exists on the market today. It has a variety of sizes that fit a lot of modern and classic dual sport and scrambler style bikes. I bought these for a 1972 Honda CL350 Scrambler and they have been great. These tires offer a great balance of comfort, control and off-road ability. They are only adequate in the rain, but the excellent gravel and dirt performance is worth the trade-off. Mileage for these tires is actually pretty poor, and they have been known to have severe wear issues at high-speed highway driving, but if you plan on taking your bike on a 70mph commute every day, you should be looking for a more road-focused tire anyways. For the money you pay, it is very hard to beat a set of Golden Boys, especially for older bikes and new riders.

Seem to be a good buy
I bought these tires about a month ago. At first they were really sketchy on the pavement. They had alot of shimmy at around 60+ mph. As they wear in the ride on pavement gets alot better. They do really well in the grass and dirt. Not too good in gravel, but what tire is....They sure beat street tires if you want to be more versatile. I put them on a 2009 klx 250 sf. The stock tubes worked fine, its hard to find a on-off road tire for the stock 17" rims. They are cheap, and they look sweet. I haven't had any problems since i got them. I ordered them on a thurs. at @2 and they showed up the next day. Really happy with revzilla.

Bought these as cheap throw-aways but happily surprised!
Bought these for a 2000 mile mixed road/dirt trip on a Suzuki DR650 because I didn't want to burn up the Dunlop 606/ Perelli MT-21 combo with a lot of life left on them. Swapped these on thinking for the price if they just lasted for the trip it was a good deal. Turns out they wear great, provide decent traction on the dirt and good reliable traction on the paved twisties. My buddy is using the Heidenau's ($$$) and getting comparable wear on a XR650L. Not ready to take these to Alaska next year but they sure impressed me for the price.

Shinko 244
I've had a 244 on the rear for about 5300 miles and it has been outstanding still have about 30% tread left and I ride fairly aggressive. I recently put a 244 on the front as well and off-road it is great on road it is fine typical dual sport tire I have noticed a slight wobble above 80 mph again that's typical on a knobby tire. I don't think you will find a better, longer lasting tire for even twice the price highly recommended.

I went with the Shinko 244 for my XT225 because others owners agree this to be the best 90% Street/10% for the XT: it's decent off-road, wears slow(er) on pavement & doesn't squirm around like other 90/10's. Either way, I need tires, so I'm going to try these out.

when I first heard of these tires I was skeptical because of the low price. but all the research told me otherwise so I decided to give them a shot. all I can say is "OUTSTANDING"! almost three thousand on these tires with a 50/50 mix of paved and dirt including some gnarly forest service roads and I still have lots of tread left. plus the traction on dirt roads is great. I don't know why I would spend more money on other tires.

I was interested in the Shinko 244 Dual Sport Tires for my Triumph Scrambler. My current tire sizes are 130/80-17 rear and 100/90-19 front. For the rear, would it be 4.60-17 and 2.75-19 for the front? I assume the second number is the wheel size. The conversion chart I found says 4.00/4.50-17 rear and 3.25/3.5-19 front. The front seems rather narrow but it's the only 19" tire I see listed. Thanks!

Do I need tubes for these tires?
A shopper on Dec 26, 2013
BEST ANSWER: It is dependent on your wheels. Spoke wheels need tubes because they are not air tight.
What do the last 2 digits and letter on the tire size indicate ? I've got a 4.10-18 59P on my bike and was wondering if the 4.10-18 60s will work on my wheel ?
A shopper on Sep 11, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The first portion of the equation is a weight rating 59 = 536 lbs. the second portion of the equation is the speed rating. p = 94 mph. Also 60 = 551 lbs. and s = 112 mph. So to answer your question, the tire you are looking to buy has a higher weight and speed rating than the one on your bike now. With a little digging, you can find the entire conversion chart on the web.

BEST ANSWER: Hi. I couldn't really say as I'm not certain of any clearance issues that you may have with your particular bike. If you're replace a similar-sized tire then you should be good to go. As far as the Shinko brand goes, I love 'em. Best bang for the buck value around. Had them on my CX500 and put them on both of my dual sports with no surprises and great durability. Sorry I couldn't have answered your questions more directly. Hope this bit of input helps.
What is the actual overall width of your shinko 244 3.50 X 18 and 4.60 X 18 tires? I need to make sure I have clearance before ordering from you.

In my experience, dual sport tire width is measured across the carcass cross section, excluding the protruding side knobbies - meaning a 3.50 X 18 shinko 244 might actually need 4 inches or more of clearance.
A shopper on Oct 27, 2014
BEST ANSWER: On my Yamaha WR250X I am using a 4.60-17 in the front and a 5:10-17 in the rear. I just measured the tires across the outermost knobs and they are exactly the size stated. The front is 4.60 inches wide and the rear is 5.1 inches wide with the tires inflated to 25psi. As best as I can tell the knobs are widest part of the tire, but the sidewalls are almost the same as the knobs.

The tires are considerably out of balance, so spend the money for a good balance job if you are going to be riding on the street. The tires are very grippy on pavement and on the dirt, they are fairly noisy, but quite smooth. Overall I am quite happy with tires. I did have to extend my kickstand about an inch because the tires are taller than the stock supermoto street tires.
what is the tire size for the klr front tire 2010 year ?
