Nice Pants for the Price and Then Some
I have had these pants for a couple of months, but haven't put them to a test until last week, when my wife and I rode from the San Antonio area up to Durango, CO. I also own a Scorpion Yosemite jacket that I wrote a review about soon after I purchased it (I wish I could update the review, because I have some observations I think would be helpful to any potential buyers#. The pants are worth every penny. Are there things that would make them better? Absolutely. But for less than $200, I doubt you'll find a pair of pants better than these. The fit is true, but if you're over six feet, the length may be too short for a medium. Nit-picks: I would like to see waterproof lining in the cargo pants and a bit more adjustability in the lower pant. The ventilation is great for a non-mesh pant. The dual front and rear vents worked well all the way up to the 105 degree temperatures we encounter on our return trip through far west Texas. Zipped up, they were comfortable down to 45 degrees in the mountains early in the day. We encountered moderate rains over the course of our trip. One day, we had a surprise shower where I didn't have on my rain suit, but because all the vents on the jacket and pants were closed, I stayed dry.

Let me speak about the jacket for a moment; This trip #2500 miles and weather from the 40's to 105 degrees, rain and strong winds, put the clothing to a pretty good test and I couldn't be happier. The jacket does an EXCELLENT job of venting and the protection is second to none. I was concerned about the chest vents would leak rain without the rain-proof liner (which I'm not a fan...are you going to strip down on the side of the road to put it on?...I didn't think so). But like I said, we got in some moderate rain on the Million-dollar highway between Silverton and Ouray, CO and I stayed warm and dry with just a short-sleeve shirt underneath.

If you only have 300 bucks to spend on a jacket or less than 200 for a pair of pants, the Scorpion Yosemite jacket and pants are well worth a look.

Does the job
Bought these Spring 2015 and have a few thousand miles on them now, with the longest being a 1500 mile round trip. The biggest negative I found is the seam in the crotch is set abit high. This makes it feel like your voice will raise an octave or two when you first put the pants on but it has not been a problem so far when riding the bike. If riding a bike with a forward canted seat- like a sport bike - I think you would have a problem here but it seems ok on my adv bike. The good is the outside pockets are perfectly located when riding and easily accessible with gloves on. The pants are lightweight - easy and quick to get on and off. I would also like to see more adjustability in the velcro between the leg bottom and calf area. Scorpion gives you good lateral velcro strips at the bottom but the single strip of velcro on the calf causes bunching of the material when you cinch down the bottom around your boot. The knee and hip armor offers ok coverage but I would prefer to have the armor extend further down the shin and broader in the hips. The vents on the front and rear thigh area work very well and flow plenty of air. I have ridden these through some fairly heavy rain and they offer zero water resistance without the liner. I have not tested them in the rain with the liner as the temps in my area have only recently started to cool off and I've not worried about getting wet during my daily commute. So, my overall opinion is these pants get the job done but they are not stellar. They are reasonably comfortable after you get past the high/tight crotch. I used the sizing chart posted on the site and the waist and length are spot on from the chart. For the money I think Scorpion should have done a better job and they should probably be priced $50-$75 less as a result.

Not "waterproof"
So far I've worn thes pants a bit over 1200 miles through various weather conditions. They are very comfortable, I love the pockets for storage and air flow is nice when the vents are open. My only disappointment is they are not "waterproof", the liner is water resistant but definitely not waterproof. I spent 3 days riding through rain storms and ended up wet and cold everyday. On the 3rd day I stopped in a Harley Davidson store and picked up a rain suit to wear over this and that worked very well keeping me dry and warm.

good bang for the buck
in the summer i ride in 90 + temps, my bike has a large fairing that blocks the wind. i don't think there are any pants made that would be cool in these conditions but these do a really good job. i commute every day and take longer rides on the weekend and the pants are holding up great. love the pockets in the front. they could be a little longer in the legs and would i would like to see the liners zip in place. thinking about getting a pair for my son.

Good all-round pants.
I purchased these along with the Yosemite Jacket and I've been pretty happy with them. The included armour moulds well to your knees when riding and the fabric and materials feel good. They ventilate well and never feel too hot or sticky.
My one and only complaint would be that they only have velcro closures on the pant bottoms and it tends to come open when wearing enduro or MX type boots. Zippers and velcro would have been a better option to prevent the opening up whilst riding

Decent Pants...Would Not Buy Again Though
I looked for a long time for new riding pants. Trying to find a protective, 3-season pant that flows enough air in the summer. I tried on maybe 12-14 pairs of pants before buying these. They are decent pants, but I would not buy again. Will probably be shopping for new pants in Spring. I have about 6,000 miles on these now.

I have a hard time finding pants that fit. I am 5 feet 9 inches tall, 34 waist, 32 inch inseam and am 175 pounds, I have bigger athletic thighs and many cuts of riding pants are simply too restrictive in the thighs for me. I end up generally going up one size at least to get a comfortable fit. I purchased these in XL size. The overall fit is pretty good - maybe a bit loose but I was OK with that to not have them be restrictive.

I like the waterproof zippered vents on the front of the thighs and back of the thighs. These do flow good air in that area. The air flow in the rest of the pants as you would suspect being a "solid" pant is poor. In the hot summer in stop and go traffic commuting back and forth to work 45 minutes to an hour each way I way too hot in these. I will be buying good mesh pants for next summer.

I had a difficult time getting the adjustable knee armor in the right place in these pants. The whole process was way more difficult than with RevIt pants I have owned in the past. I am not convinced with the way the knee armor carrier is made that the armor will be in the right place in the event of a crash despite lots of tinkering with placement.

One online review from a motorcycle magazine noted that these are 1-2 inches too short in the leg and that you realize it once mounted on your bike. True. I ride with Sidi Doha boots which are just above my ankle and there was a gap between the pant cuff and boot top when on the bike. I ended up and sewed 2 1/2 inches of high quality material similar to that used to make the pants onto the bottom of each cuff. Solved the problem, but I should have returned the pants on purchase because of the short length.

These pants are very annoying to put on because not matter what I have tried somehow my toes catch in the mesh lining not the bottom of the pants and I have to work my foot around to get through.

Front zipper broke a year after purchasing. I didn't feel like paying a tailor to fix it so I cut it off and replaced with velcro. Actually works better than the zipper since it often caught in the gusset material and got jammed. Don't think pants in this price range should have problems like this.

The cargo pockets are ridiculous. When you ride they fill up with air and balloon out. Looks cartoonish. I sewed them down around the edges after the first ride. Another reason I should have returned these.

After countless hours of searching, I found my pant!
I ride mainly commuting to work and two up touring/Dual Sport. I have researched so many pants I could be a certified Gear Geek now! I chose these pants because of the fit, protection and air flow. I live in South Central Utah where the temperature i ride in varies from 30 degrees to 110 degrees. These have done great on the hottest days(Anything is going to be warm but these flow the air pretty well.)

The fit is good, I have big thighs from squats and long legs 36 in. inseam. I ordered a 2XL and have to cinch the waist in but im fine with that! They are still slightly short but cover my skin if i wear tall boots.(8 in. tall) The comfort is unreal! I could wear these all day, on and off the bike. So happy that my search is finally over! I feel so much safer when I ride now!

I found that I am able to use these as over pants if I need to when leaving work.

Good heavy weight feel safe in these
I wear size 36 pants and the XL fits OK not loose though. Good knee pads and mostly stay in place once on the bike. The hip pads are foam I plan to replace with real armor. Dual hook at waist is nice and they zip up and stay up well. Can make them work with vents in warm weather but these are great cool weather pants and not for hot days for me at least on a bike with a fairing its hot. Storm Trooper black pants for riding not hanging out. I love them in the cooler weather and the lower legs open for putting on my boots very nicely but not all the way up which is good I don't want pants with full side openings. Top notch if you add hip armor cool weather pants IMO.

Great pants, knee pads a bit low
Bought the XL size, they fit according to the size chart. Waist and leg length fit almost perfect. I can sit down without having to pull pants up a bit (other pants sag in the crotch so you have to pull them up just a bit while sitting on the bike, these don't). Only one real complaint, that is the knees pads. I put them as high as they would go and they are still below my knee. I sat with my knees in the bent position, they still were below my knee. Another issue with the knee pads is that they move around quite a bit. You bend your knee once and the pad is a bit to the left, bend it again, it is a bit to the right. They don't stay in place on our leg. The fabric pockets and Velcro that hold them in is very loose. They do move around on you. Almost tempted to just take them out. I will go for a few more rides to see if I can get used to them.

The cargo pockets are bit smaller than I thought from the pictures, but still hold cell phones, wallet, etc. and still work great when you need to access them while sitting on your bike.

If you ride on a cold day, the liner will definitely keep you warm. I forget to take them out one day and it warmed up a bit. I was sweating in them. Be sure to take them out if warm day out.

Don't get me wrong, these are great pants, fit great. The best of the 3 that I have tried. Knee pads could be held in better and a bit higher.

Nice pants not the best pads at first
Got these today and took a one hour ride. In the house I did not like the knee pads as the top of them is mid knee cap esp on the right leg. I see there is limited room to move them around but you can do it. The hip pad seems pretty small though I have nothing to compare as this is my first riding pants. I wear a 36-32 Arizona jeans and the XL fits me well at 195lb with just shorts under. Once on the bike the pants felt good and the knees shifted to a good spot. Thigh pads settled in ok and stopped jamming me in the sides once going. I am upright on the VStrom. Wife told me they looked nice. Pockets work well, the leg velcro is the only thing to hold the lower leg closed I did not have to mess with it. Pants rode above mid ankle and my not cycle riding boots left my upper ankles cold. The tall would be good if you wear short boots and want no pant to shoe gap. I think I will buy real riding boots and keep the pants or double tall sock up in cold weather. Overall a giant step up from jeans for safety and they feel good on the bike. Wont want to hang out at the mall in these pants but you could do some shopping and errands. Great first pants to get back riding after 15 years.

Tried them on in a store in a smaller size and they seemed not too bulky and with the included pad/armor I think these will be a nice step up from wearing jeans. I just want to ride I am not a commuter or long tour at this point but I can't afford a small get off with no protection. I am 195 5'11 and waist 36" at the belly b the large looked 2" shy to button. The Mall in Belleville NJ charges a 50% restock fee ?? per their receipt of other stuff I can't work with that. Ordering the XL from RZ

Looking for a pant with good venting, with removable liner...Lots of experience with Gore-Tex and other membranes....all waterproof membranes eventually leak. With these I can throw the less expensive leaking liner away, buy a decent breathable rain pant to put under it...but keep a nice durable pant with good armor for a while. Not as convenient as a membrane built into the pant but to me this makes more sense...

I'm curious to know if the Scorpion Yosemite cargo pockets could be expected to keep contents dry in a moderate shower?

Also, for Greengo, you mentioned in your review that the pants kept you dry... was that with the rain liner installed or not?

I encounter frequent, localized showers and would like to have textiles that would keep me dry in those circumstances. For extended or heavy downpours, I use the rain suit over the gear.

Thank-you.
A shopper on Sep 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: The pants are made out of a "waterproof material" I wouldnt have much worry about something in my cargo pocket unless it was a downpour for 10 minutes or longer. I have ridden in micro bursts of rain and didnt have an issue. I don't think I would ever really ride with the rain liner in unless I was going to be in some serious showers. If thats the case, just get a rain suit! Ha!
I'm 42 waist on my jeans, size chart idicates 3XL (largest available) will fit 40-41 waist.
Has anybody with a 42 waist tryed the 3XL? How do they fit? Ideas?
Erez K on Jul 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If your thighs are smaller they might work well. The waist is bigger than the thighs. I have wear a 36in but had to go to a 2xl for the thigh room. (I like the air to be able to flow)
