Scorpion EXO-AT950 Battleflage Helmet

Scorpion has redefined a segment, melding the best features of touring helmets with the versatility of an off-road lid. Scorpion EXO-AT950 Helmet is the all-in-one swiss army knife of the helmet world. The modular chin bar allows you to relieve your claustrophobia or ask for directions while the off-road style peak and large eye port deflects roost, blocks the sun and allows you to wear goggles when tearing up the trails. If you're going to be hitting the highway, the peak visor is easily removed to give you an aerodynamic profile so you can bug out at speed. Eyeglass compatible cheek pads and a KwikWick II liner ensures total comfort.

  • Ellip-Tec Ratchet System uses an elliptical motion that creates 7.6mm of travel which pulls the shield securely against the eye port, ensuring a proper seal and allows for 100% tool-less shield changing in a matter of seconds
  • EverClear No-Fog Face Shield optically-clear shield with state-of-the-art fog-free technology, anti-scratch hardened coating, 100% UV-A & UV-B protection

A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.
Every time I see a helmet that I like, I'm always too late to the part and it is sold out for rest of human time! I saw the Scorpion EXO-AT950, read the reviews, watched some YouTube reviews, and bought it. I have a 2017 Harley Softail Slim-S FLSS, and this helmet makes it look like I stole my bike straight from the battlefield. I am a wounded Veteran, so I love the distressed camp look. My review will cover Product Perceptability / Ease of Attachments / Fit & Feel / Communications Mods. If you don't want to read the whole review, my BLUF: Buy it now while you still can!

PRODUCT PERCEPTABILITY (i.e. is it what I thought it would look like?): Better than expected. Just as awesome when I pulled it out of the box as it looked online. The colors were spot on.

EASE OF ATTACHMENTS: I am always worried I am going to scratch or break something right after I get it out of the box, so I am always super careful. The only thing that they didn't tell you in the directions that were included is that, when you put on the peak visor they have little rubber coverings over the male-end tips of visor ends. Those just basically need to be pulled off before attaching the peak visor. The screw for the attachments are flat-head, but you are supposed to use a coin (quarter or nickel works well). This touch is brilliant because if you are on a ride and want to put on the peak visor, or take it off, you don't have to go to Home Depot. You can wear this helmet like 10 different ways, not including goggles if you choose to. This is the way that all helmets should be organized. The built in sun glasses are awesome. I only use them with the full face and clear front visor down, because my eyes get dry, but that's just because my eyes cant handled awesomeness of the helmet. You're stupid if you are using the built in sun glasses when it's dark, unless you bought the yellow HD visor insert on their website, so I'm not even going to comment on the visibility of the built-in sun glasses at night.

FIT & FEEL: I am 6' 3" and around 225 lbs, and my noggin isn't that big. I was towards the max end of the spectrum for the L / min end of the spectrum for the XL. I went with the XL, and was glad that I did! I was worried about the built-in sun glasses being too close to my cheeks. I recommend using the min side of the spectrum to judge what size you should get. If you are towards the middle or max end of the spectrum, go up a size. The padding is more than sufficient, and will be uncomfortable otherwise. Another thing, and there is plenty of warning about this so this should be no surprise. The helmet is more on the heavy side. When I was setting up the bluetooth comms. to my phone I was looking down a lot, and within 5 mins my neck starting aching. But I was sitting on my couch doing that, any other time I am looking at the road and I am fine. You might have a little neck ache the first couple times you wear this helmet, but you'll build up those muscles in your neck. Besides, no girl wants a pencil-neck pipsqueak, you'll thank them later.

COMMUNICATIONS MODS: I added the Sena 10R to my helmet. They did a great job placing the speaker cutouts for this helmet. The sound is clear, quiet, and AMAZING!!! The side unit went on well, but because of the contour of the back of the helmet the battery pack for the unit covers part of the DOT sticker. I don't condone covering the sticker because it may be illegal in some states. I left as much of the sticker visible without compromising the helmet logos or the overall look of the helmet.

OVERALL: 10 out of 10! Guaranteed to get you more chick's, you'll bench press more, and you'll be able to grow a beard 10X faster! Be careful though, you might get into more old-timey bare knuckle boxing matches, after purchasing this helmet!

The best dual sport helmet I have owned!
I picked this helmet up to replace my Speed & Strength DS helmet since I wanted a drop sun shade and still wear my glasses. I'm needing them all the time now. Helmet fits great!

Sena system mounted easily and no pressure on the ears from the speakers. That was thought out quite well. I still wear ear plugs but its quieter than the S&S helmet and the Fly Trekker which I owned before.

Be sure to monitor the screws holding the visor. I lost one at highway speed but Scorpion sent new sets for no charge and no questions asked. Great customer service. I would buy this helmet again for sure!

Great helmet
According to the size chart I would be a LG, but a Gear Geek recommended going with a size larger. XL was a great call, it fits great.

Great helmet, badass look
I'm a very new rider, and this is the first helmet I have ever had. It fits true to recommend size. Amazingly wide field of view, the sun visor is dim enough to block out the sun but not too dim, and the modular feature is very convenient. Overall great helmet and the battleflage design is very good looking.

First helmet
I just got my first bike and my first helmet . I tried on a ton of them . Not really sure on how they r suppose to fit or what to expect to get out of them bit I was not happy with any of the thirty plus I tried on . My buddy ordered the scorpion for himself and I immediately was intrigued by the design and color of it . I ordered one for myself and I am happy I did . I rode 200 miles my first time out and had no issues at all . The view is amazing and I had no issue with the weight of the helmet at all . Air flow was great and the comfort was was like I didn't have one on . Couldn't imagine owning a better one !

Sick Lid
Only complaint is that there are no options for the internal sun shield and the helmet is pretty tight in the cheek area when it's flipped down.

Other than that, I'm very pleased with the helmet.

Cheek pads way too large
I have this helmet and cant wear it for more than 1 hour. The cheek pads seem to fit well when the face shield/front of helmet is pushed up. But when down and latched, it narrows the helmet and crushes your face on the pads. After 20-30 minutes you get some rather strong jaw pain. I had to push the face shield/front of helmet up after an hour to finish the 4 hour ride. I wear the large helmet and the company says the XL sizes will not fit in the XS-L helmet sizes. So Im out of luck. Hopefully I can come up with an innovative option on my own or the company will hopefully not let me down here. I gave it a 1 on bang for the buck because I cant wear the helmet.

I bought this helmet because of the dual sport function combined with the convenience of modular function.

Function:
Survivor easy to use even with winter gloves.
Face shield is great, ridge while riding with it open.
Flip up chin bar is excellent, it will stay in open position while riding. It has not once dropped on me, even offroad.

Comfort: You'll need to size up one because there are pressure point if you don't. Other than that it's quite comfortable all around. I didn't size up, BUT I found the cause of the pressure. There is a small wedge (grid shape) near the locking mechanism which compresses the checks. I shaved my off, and what a difference it made. The purpose might be to keep the locking mechanism from rubbing against the interior of the shell, but I had no issue so far.

Venting:
I set my expectation far too high, the air flow from the top vent is barely noticeable. The chin vent is barely noticeable. as well. Only mildly better than my C3 Pro.

I would definitely buy again if they can make the venting on par with dual sport helmets.

Master chief
Been riding with this helmet almost daily for 6 weeks. Love it. The winter accessories seem like a bit of an afterthought, but once in place they work well. The chin curtain was loose (pin fittings are weak) so I opted for a small tab of glue. Nose cover catches when the helmet face flips up but not a big issue.
Helmet fits perfectly, good snug fitting. Cheek pads put some pressure on your face, but that'll loosen a bit with time, as with all helmets when in yields to your skull.
Bought the yellow visor. It's not coated on purchase so it will fog up. The visor is a great addition. No issues with drag or wind resistance, even when looking around at speed. Vents are suitable without freezing your head or face. The visor closes firmly, unlike my previous Arai helmets.
Overall, love it. And I get to look like the Masterchief from Halo.
A big thanks to Revzilla Customer Service too. Had some difficulty with their website buying into Ireland, but it was sorted in about 24 hours.
