Near Perfect. Here's why:
Background: I live in SoCal where the temps are usually pretty stable year round. Ranging from 40s-80s most of the time. I wanted something to ride during the spring/summer and something I could use at school and not have to carry around a heavy leather jacket on campus or out to lunch with friends.

Surprisingly, I've worn this in Jan. with a few layers and was not cold doing 80mph on the highway. So if you're in the area I would say this shirt can be worn year-round.

When I first got the shirt it felt so comfortable (without hard parts armor) that I fell asleep in it. No joke! The outer layer is a spun cotton that feels very soft. I honestly worn this shirt 3 days straight around the neighborhood, in the house, out to lunch etc. No shame. lol.

So here's my pros/cons:

Cons:
1. Boxy/American cut. No split from anterior/posterior of the shirt. Wish the tail was longer than the front. (But I knew that going in).
2. Noisy buttons if not clasped.
3. No included armor (Also, knew that going in).
4. No pant loops (if you're looking for that)

Pros:
1. Fully lined kevlar (good feeling knowing that you're covered)
2. Great look. Feels/looks just like your favorite flannel. With no giant logos anywhere besides a small tab with the scorpion logo on it.
3. Velcro on the sleeves are key. They usually automatically close.
4. Interior CCW pocket fits both my cell phone & wallet for when you want to go light. Very convenient these days when phones are getting bigger and bigger.
5. Warm, but not heavy. Comfortable. Armor pieces (optional) fit where they need to be with room for adjustments via interior velcro enclosures.

I also have the Speed and Strength "Last Man Standing Shirt" and the Vault armor (elbows, shoulders, and back protector) that comes included that shirt fits into this covert shirt perfectly.

Very satisfied.

Great Shit with a Couple of Drawbacks
Let me start by saying that the idea of taking a flannel shirt and covering it in kevlar is a great idea, and Scorpion have done very well with it. However, there are a couple of drawbacks that need to also be mentioned here.

I'll start with the POSITIVES:

- Very well made, stitching is very good although a little sloppy across the back pad's pocket.

- Looks secure and safe. I'd trust this shirt to protect me in a get off at 65 mph. Although it can ride up the torso. Get the tights fit so that at least the shoulder/elbow armour stays in place. Do NOT go up a size to get a loose fit.

- Armor pockets are well stitched and have velcro to adapt it to different heights.

- Snaps are high quality. You can use the zipper, snaps or both to close the shirt.

- Good fit. True to size.

- It's very warm but it gets decent ventilation via the cuffs and opening the zipper a little.

- It can be machine washed, as far as I know, so long as you use a short cycle with cold water. Do NOT put it in the dryer though.

- Get the armour, it's great. The pockets for the shoulder armour accept the same elbow armour you'll be using too; this is great because it means you get more shoulder coverage for protection. You can also fit a Level 2 D30 knee pad in the shoulder pocket, for those of you who have extra Level 2 D30 armour laying around in the house like I do. So buy TWO pairs of Scorpion's SAS TEC elbow armour.

- Shirt looks great. I got the red and black and it looks great and like a real flannel shirt.

- It's light enough even with armour inserted and takes a lot less space than an armoured jacket. So if you have bags in your motorcycle, you can easily store this shirt with the armour inserted too.

NEGATIVES:

- This isn't a shirt, folks. This is a light jacket to wear over a t-shirt. Calling it a shirt is slightly misleading, but flannel shirts are usually worn over t-shirts anyway. Just be aware of that.

- I don't trust the zipper to last. Why didn't Scorpion put the icing on the cake by putting one of those big YKK zippers with the bigger teeth that look more secure against ripping of in a get off? The zipper looks (and is) weak for such a great safe shirt.

- The back pad is placed VERY low. I'm talking silly low. You've got about 4 inches of uncovered top of your back. Starting at your shoulders, four inches down are uncovered by the back pad. Why? It's obvious I want the maximum protection when I'm buying the Scorpion Level 2 back pad that Scorpion suggests to use with this shirt. This is the biggest drawback for me and I'd like Scorpion to reconsider the placement of the back pad.

- Ditch the closing velcro in the cuffs. They're annoying as they remain closed unintentionally when you try to put on the shirt.

My conclusion is that this is an excellent shirt but the zipper issue and the back pad issue are killers that would make me think twice about buying this again. I had a similar issue with the placement of (knee) armour on my Scorpion Pro Covert jeans as do many people. Scorpion wake up and listen to us. If you improve this shirt with a strong, beefy bigger-teeth zip and you allow the back pad to cover the four inches of uncovered back, you will have an absolute winner.

Lastly, increase the amount of kevlar to at least 250 GSM. Your next model upgrade of this shirt should have 250 GSM or more. I'm seeing hoodies with 350 GSM so why can't you make this shirt with more kevlar?

If in your next model upgrade, you fix the zipper, better the placement of the back pad and up the GSM to 250 or above, I will buy at least 3 versions of the shirt. That's how sold I am on the idea. A shirt like that would just be a cash cow for you (i.e. lots of sales). I guarantee you that.

Oh, and, please, get a female version of this shirt like Speed & Strength does. I wanted to buy this same shirt for my girl, but you didn't have a female version, so you missed $213 I had ready to splurge on another flannel shirt with armour included.

Hope my review helps those of you considering this great flannel shirt.

Excellent Shirt
The Scorpion Covert Flannel shirt is an excellent product that goes great with my ICON Leather vest. I am 5'9" with a muscular build. The XL size fits well. The shirt is a good three season option, and provides adequate warmth on 35-40 degree days when combined with layers. Zippers and snaps are of good quality. The CCW pocket will accommodate a full size 1911 pistol.

This product has great features
The poly liner does not stretch as good as the cotton outer and feels a little tight across the shoulders. I like the large zipper because you can adjust at speed. The snaps work well and do not come open at speed. Perfect garment for mild dry days or under a leather outer. Long enough to protect from torso exposure at speed. Cleans easy with mild soap and water.

I will buy another.

Like this shirt
I'm 5'11", 190 lbs, 41" chest, and I take a 35" dress shirt (spine to wrist).

Looking for a summer weight armored piece. I sweat easily. I have a midweight hybrid jacket with huge vents and 5 pockets (Shadow Pikes Peak). At 60-70 mph in 94 degree CO heat (no humidity) it was "OK". On a recent ride down into TX -- high humidity -- it was barely marginal and I started looking for something lighter.

The LG was a little tight across the back. Adding armor would make it too tight, and I didn't try to see where the elbow pcs would be.

The fabric is like heavy wool, and it has a light quilt liner, so I don't think it would be cool enough for me in the heat.

Has 2 chest pockets and an inside one.

I would look to try D3O armor for flexibility and invisibility. Don't like the storm trooper look of some pieces I've tried.

Worth the money.
This shirt fits large, I'm usually an XL but I might've been able to wear a large. It doesn't breath well, but it is a flannel after all and all you have to do is leave the zipper open a little and the wind flows through it nicely. The armor fits well and stays in the right place, and it seems sturdy enough. I just wish they put belt loops on it so I could attach it to my pants.

Great Shirt
So far I love this Flannel. It is light enough to wear on a warmer day while also providing the Kevlar protection. I do wish it had some vents, but, oh well. The armor I bought with it fits great and is comfortable in the shirt.

This is exactly what i was looking for. Fits normal size, i wear xxl normally and this fit perfect. Thicker then i expected so a cross between a jacket and nothing, similar to wearing a sweatshirt. Fits good and looks great. Buttons and zipper are awesome, no flapping in the wind.

GREATNESS / Very stylish & well made and designed - 100% Recommend
GREAT SHIRT!!! This jacket exceeded all my expectations and is very well made. The flannel outer material has a 165G DuPont Kevlar lining with a quilted polyester lining. This bad boy “shirt” is thick and would be very hot during the warmer summer months. Unlike many shirts this one has pockets for armor (not included) and has velcro for easy adjustment. I put armor in my shirt and it fits great and is completely unnoticeable to others. It was a great design to have an inner YKK center front zip as well as snaps. The snap down collar and velcro on the sleeves keep everything locked down. The shirt stays closed and secure at high speed. Also, the two exterior snap and inner zip pocket work great and provide good room for storage. I am 5’8/150 lbs and I ordered the brown/tan/grey shirt in small and found it to run true to size. If anything, I believe some may find it to run a bit on the small side, especially with armor added. As an added bonus, this shirt is very stylish and it actually has a better pattern/style than many of my regular flannels. I wear this shirt when I am off the bike as well, minus the armor. If you have been thinking about getting a riding shirt I would encourage you to get this one. I highly recommend this shirt 100%. Very satisfied and I wear it all the time because it is comfortable. Enjoy the ride my friends!

Love this jacket--it's really not a shirt. The lining and kevlar do make it a bit warm if you're stopped in the Sun. When moving, it the airflow is great. Sleeves could be a 1/2" longer, but even with that, it's very comfortable. Great zipper and SOLID snaps. I feel comfortable putting my cell phone in the breast pockets all day.

I bought this flannel because I love my Speed and Strength Black 9 Moto shirt because it is thee Most comfortable flannel I have ever owned. but I wanted something with the option to add armor to it and not all the branding that the S & S shirt has on it. The Scorpion shirt is not nearly as comfortable and I noticed that it is also fraying a little bit after about a month of wearing it. If you dont mind the branding and the No Armor option I would surely go for the S & S Black 9 moto shirt!!

Can you advise which specific Sas-Tec armor pieces will fit the best for the shoulders, elbows and back?
James E on Sep 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I used the Sas-Tec Shoulder/Elbow/Knee armor for the shoulder and elbow and it fits perfect. The back I use a different armor and the fit is not right. Thinking of using the Scorpion SC-1/15 on this but haven't gotten into it yet.
Will any other armor brands work with this shirt? I have a joe rocket jacket with armor, and am hoping to be able to switch the armor over
Timothy M on Feb 15, 2016
Hi. Would you say the flannel material is heavier than the rust and redemption shirt?
A shopper on Nov 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes it is. This flannel is FULLY lined with kevlar, not just in the impact zones. Hth.
Which would be better for hotter weather, this or the rust and redemption?

Which one also has more Kevlar?

We really need more comparisons please..
A shopper on Dec 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I would say Rust and Redemption because this covert flannel is FULLY lined with kevlar. Kevlar is a hotter material. This also answers your second question. However this shirt would offer more abrasion resistance.
will this shirt wirk with different brand of armor?
Timothy M on Jan 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes. the pockets are large and can be adjusted with velcro. I have put 3 different kinds of armor in it and all work well.
Will the 4xl fit a bit guy? I normally wear 3xlT shirts. Im 6'2" 300 lbs. I got a 3x feom speed and strength and it wasnt even close to "my normal" size

BEST ANSWER: I wear a 2XL in a regular jacket and in 2XL this fits me well. I would say it is true to my "normal" size.
Will the Klim D3O Viper T5 back and other D30 pads fit this?
Robert M on Mar 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I've added the Klim D30 viper T5 protector and it fit with some very slight trimming. Took all of 2 minutes to slide in, see where it was tight and grab a pair of scissors to trim and fit back in. I also bought the newer Klim Level 2 elbow and shoulder pads, which are a tad bit thicker, but still fit good. I have not yet but adding some Velcro to the pads might be preferred by some. Mine fit in and have not moved but depending on where you want the D30 the Velcro may be needed.
Does this have belt loops? I
Jeff L on Feb 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: None.. simply the jacket only.
How big is the CCW pocket? Is it large enough to hold a modern full-sized semi-automatic pistol, or even a full-size 1911?

BEST ANSWER: The CCW pocket is large enough to accommodate my full-sized 1911 and still zip the pocket closed. Unless you are packing a Desert Eagle you should have no problem.
