Very comfortable, super high quality
I bought this when they were still full price at $750. Now a few months later they are selling for half that and I consider that a screaming good deal for such a high quality helmet. Excellent quality and very comfortable. The visor is easy to operate and has good positive detents. I like that there's a detent that allows me to crack it open a very small crack to get a bit more air in low speed traffic. The air flow from the vents is better than any helmet I've owned, and they're easy to operate with a gloved hand. I also considered the Shoei Neotec II and tried both on. This one fit my noggin a bit better, your experience may differ. It's a very slightly longer oval. I added the comm system to go along with the integrated speakers & mic. It has worked flawlessly and I love that it's fully enclosed within the helmet. Installation could not be easier. The weight may be a bit higher than others in this category, but keep in mind that it includes the Sena 20 speakers, mic, and antenna. It doesn't feel all that heavy. Wind noise is minimal, better than any helmet I've owned before.

The helmet is great! This rating system, not so hot
Overall, very pleased with the helmet. The fit and finish exceeded expectations (especially after some of the poor reviews). I normally wear and XL, which I ordered in the C4. The fit is slightly too tight. I'm hoping things will loosen up with a few miles. Ventilation is top notch with both the front and top vents contributing significantly - far better than my Klim Krois. Noise levels are good, on par with my old Shoes RF. Installed the integrated comms - works great, especially after the SW update.

Honestly, I would have given it higher marks, but for some reason the rating system won't allow me to click anything higher than average for anything. 4 stars with high marks for features and bang-for-buck (at these sale prices)

Very well finished, top German quality
I have not yet used this product, although I have tried them on and tested all the items, including installing the SC1 advanced.

Everything is very easy, plug and play. The product is high end quality to the detail. I have two other helmets that I like very much the Arai XD4 and the Shark Evo 3. They do not compare in terms of finishing details and quality.

I do not know yet how silent or noisy it is, but I trust it will not be behind the other two I have.

The SC1 fits just fine and is invisible in the helmet, which I like very much. how well it Works is yet to be tested..

1000 miles with it
Shell is too large, isn’t an issue until you’re going 75+ and need to do a head check. It feels like you’re getting a visit from the chiropractor if you’re unprepared for it. Then, there’s the wind buffeting. It happens if I put my head outside of where my very tiny faring sets up that wind pocket.

Outside of that, the stereo cant replicate bass so don’t expect to listen to hip hop or anything else bassy. Metal/Rock plays well at max volumes and I can still hear the road/my pipes over it (which I prefer, anyway).

The mouth vent “guard” fell off super easy and got run over pretty quickly, not worth replacing cause itll just happen again.

“Sunshield” fogs up, especially if mouth vent is closed.

Bought a bargain on clearance
I have a Shoei Neotech 2 and prefer the C4 . The C4 is just a tad noisier than the Neotech . I really like the fit on both but C 4 is a little more comfy for me anyways . I prefer the visor on the C4 it clicks up in notches and stays firmly more so than the Neotech . I feel I can c bet have better perifferal vision in the C4 than the Neotech . When it comes to the sun visor I have no preference for one over the other . The lining is easier to remove and put back in the Neotech , but just slightly . For me the air circulation is very equal. When riding at highway speed the Neotech doesn’t seem to catch the wind when u turn your head at certain angles . I prefer the under chin button on the C4 and the solid opening and closing of the modular face on the the C4 . The moving parts on the modular face feel more solid , smooth and have a nice click when closed or opened completely . On the inside the C4 helmet interior my mout isn’t as close to the chin of the helmet .i prefer that bit of extra space in front of my mouth . I think the Shoei seals better against wind and noise around the visor and neck . Both are great I just prefer the C4 . I paid full price for the Shoei & $349 for the C4 on clearance so I wear it like I stole it . Haven’t tried the integrated coms yet but will . Hope this helps somebody

Fehlkonstruktion
"Fehlkonstruktion" is the German word for faulty design and this helmet is unfortunately right on the mark for the label.

I am riding 30k+ miles per year + track days, thus I go to quite a few helmets...
My street helmets are replaced every 1-2 years - the C4 replaced a X-lite X-1004, which had replaced an C3 pro. Before that I used Arai, Shark and Shoei non-modular models.

First the positives: the helmet actually fixed a few of the C3 pro's issues (sealing of the face shield + better fit of the pinlock lense, more sturdy lever for top ventilation and sun visor). It is also very quiet (in my setup at least). It's also better designed compared with the finicky X-lite.

Here the negatives:

- the C4 is the most uncomfortable helmet I had in the last 15 years. Initially, it was outright painful so that I had to stop after 30 minutes to 1 hour. It's improved over time, but still far from acceptable. Schuberth suggested I upgrade the ("optimised") C4 pro padding when it becomes available.

- ventilation/fogging issues: the new chin vent is difficult to operate with gloves (certainly a downgrade from the C3pro) and feels flimsy; wearing the C4 with glasses is difficult due to the fogging, putting in the chin curtain is impossible. The sun visor fogs up easily and is almost impossible to defog (even with the face shield open); the face shield cannot be put in a position to leave a 1-2 millimeter gap for ventilation which would probably help a lot (Shoei and X-lite have that)

- the Sena communications system SC-1 adv fits right in with the design deficiencies of the C4. The two-button operation is outright hideous. Switching it on and off is already difficult, other operations are really a hit and miss, at best. The sound is just ok. This is a remarkable achievement by Sena, as the managed to downgrade something they already designed very well a long time ago - I got a 7 year old Sena 10-R.

This is a great deal. Don't understand the neg reviews
This helmet fits me intermediate oval head nicely. I moved from a Shark modular which was a round style, but his one fits better.
Great airflow from the top vent. I feel instantly cool air when I open it. I can't tell any difference from the chin vent and it seems kinda cheap or loose.
$350 (on sale) for a great helmet. Love it!
SC1 is on order but I've heard all I need is to ensure a firmware upgrade to get address all the complaints in these reviews. We shall see.
To be fair, I have not ridden on a foggy rainy day to test the pinlock on the shield.

Replaced 2-VERY QUIET long-time C3 helmets with 3 new VERY LOUD C4 (on sale) helmets... C4s are EXTREMELY LOUD compared to the C3 and most every other helmet... most folks (including SCHUBERTH) seems to be aware of this! C4 Pro supposedly will address the noise issues... too late for me though!

Because of Schubert's reputation for quality build and quietness. I'm also told the ventilation will be better in the C4 vs the C3Pro. Most importantly, I really like the Sena-Schuberth SC1 integration.

what does the helmet weigh and how does the noise level compare with the C3 Pro?
Giles C on Nov 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The C4 (size M) is labeled at 1660g, while the C3 Pro (size M) is at 1570g.
Noise level seems to be at least the same as in the C3 Pro (which is very good), while the ventilation has improved.
Does the shell come in more than two sizes now?
Bradley R on Oct 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Two shell sizes for the C4.
Can you use the built in microphone and speakers without buying the communication kit?
Glenn H on Nov 13, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, everything is hidden in the helmet. There are just 2 openings, one for the custom designed battery and one for the SC1 main unit. You'll have to buy the SC1 to use the speakers and mic.
when will the Schuberth C4 be available?
A shopper on Jan 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: see my answer above. Just only in the last few weeks and only Revzilla seems to have it.
G'Day guys, when will you be doing a full breakdown video? great online store by the way!
A shopper on Mar 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Don't think they have any inventory yet, mate. I'm waiting for my pre-order.
Will there be a c4 pro ?
Greg C on Nov 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Let's hope not; that would mean there are things about this that need to be fixed.
Will the built in speakers and mic work with other communication systems? Or did they design this helmet so you are limited to only their SC1? Which btw lacks a ton of the features of the newer Cardo systems.
David G on Jan 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The SC1 system that will be used in the C4 is made by Sena (although branded by Schuberth.) I have downloaded the new SC1 manual and it is authored by Sena. The system pairs, intercoms, plays music and provides phone capability exactly like Sena systems because IT IS a Sena system. (Don't confuse the new SC1 with previous Schuberth proprietary BT systems.) This is a first and joint venture by them with Sena. You can read about it at both the Sena and Schuberth websites.
this thing ever getting released or reviewed???
Rocky M on May 3, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Already released in the UK. They're on the boat now headed for the US.
Will the commutation kit from other Schubert helmets work with the C4?
Greig M on Jan 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It will not. The system is now made by Sena; previously Cardo made them.
Will the Schuberth C4 with SC1 installed be able to communicate with helmets with Sena 20S communicators installed?
Van B on Mar 13, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it's a Sena product, (the speakers in the C4 are from the 20S).
