Saddlemen Adventure Tour Seat With Lumbar Rest for BMW R1200GS / Adventure

Saddlemen introduces a new specialized seat family that was developed for Adventure riders who want to aggressively ride for extended periods of time in comfort. Durable marine grade vinyls and bright accent stitching with a supple upper-foam layer produce a seat that is as effective as it is stylish. The combination of the GEL comfort layer and progressive density foam with a GEL-Channel design cover  provides riders with the support and perineal nerve relief needed for long saddle time. Seat sets includes integrated luggage mounting  points to attach the perfectly matched Saddlemen Adventure PACK luggage or other cargo to the pillion portion of the seat.

Features:

  • Lumbar Rest feature is adjustable and provides the lower back support which allows for longer riding time
  • Specifically engineered to retain the R1200GS' driver's seat height adjustment feature and the passenger's for & aft adjustment
  • Hybrid seat design combines SaddleGel interior, progressive density foam and a Gel Channel-design cover
  • Center channel that relieves seat pressure
  • Using a very large GEL pad for additional foam support and vibration damping
  • Carbon-fiber look weave and smooth vinyl cover holds up to hard use and still retains its good looks
  • Heated models feature a 2-mode switch on left side of the rider's seat
  • Designed and built in the U.S.A.

Note: Standard seat height is based on OEM seat. Lowered seat height uses foam that is 1" less thick. Heated options are only heated in the driver's portion. Pillion seats are not heated.

1400 mile test and my back and butt feel great. R1200GSW
I installed the seat and went right out on a 1400 mile ride, 1200 road and 200 dirt. At first I didn't like the back support because it pushes you forward. But after a while I got used to the new seating position and my lower back had support and felt great. The saddle man seat is heavier and doesn't have tool or chip holders like the stock seat. This is due to the sturdy construction and steel base. It would be nice if they added that in later mods, just another thing to get used to. I rode through two days of pouring rain and even with the slot in the top of the back seat for the back support the seat stayed mostly dry. There was no break-in period, the seat feels the same now as it did before I started. Much better than the stock seat and average price when compared to other after market seats. 4 out of 5 stars because: weight, back seat doesn't match up perfectly with front(I foresee rubbing issues and possibly wear-through were they meet), and no enduro-pro chip holder.

Love the seat..The fit could been done better tho!
I had bought the Saddleman Adventure Track seat but the cover was blistered(see picture) was really surprised because of their video takes pride on the "quality control) so I returned it back to Revzilla with no problems and decided to get the same seat for my 2016 BMW GSA but the tour style seat instead. (The suede finish was a little smother then in the review show..and I was hoping that the quality would be better then the track seat)
To my surprise there is a large gap in the front of the seat and a gap between the front seat and the pillion(Pictures will show what I'm talking about) I do like the feel of the Seat and It seems to be a little lower than my original "Low" seat and it is quite firm but im sure that after a few hundred miles it will fit me perfect...

great seat after so many tries
this seat is awesome, its very comfortable compared to both OEM REGULAR AND OEM LOW. it looks amazing and the lumbar support works well. the finish is very nice. good quality leather and craftmanship.
the seat is itself is super comfortable. you feel like you are on a sport bike but have the comfort of an adventure bike.

it's lowered enough to give good clearance to ground but keep the knees comfortable and not over bent. im 5'10 and i can reach the ground well with this seat.

Too Firm
95% of my riding is on the street, and I purchased the seat with the hopes of having a plush seat for all day rides. All the reviews say the seat breaks in at around 1500 miles, but I noticed no difference. I replaced the low stock seat with this, and this is a big improvement over that, but still not nearly as comfortable as a seat I had made for my DRZ400. I will continue my search for the ultimate seat.

Decent value and much better than stock.
I bought this seat because ordering a custom seat 'all day' seat would take months to arrive and would leave me without my stock seat while it was being built.

BFTB: This was far from the most expensive seat I looked at. With the back rest and heat, it's actually cheaper than most of the other alternatives I looked at for my '16 R1200GSA.

Features: I like the lumbar support but using it requires you to sit further forward, which narrows the portion of the seat your butt is sitting on and isn't as comfortable. Still, I do use it sometimes.

Comfort: After 1000 miles, it's starting to break in. I can finally feel the gel giving a bit. It's more comfortable now than it was when it was new. It's already more comfortable than the Sargent I had on my 08 GS.

Style: It looks good and I get comments on how good it looks.

Ease of Install: installs just like the stock seat. The heater was a bit difficult to wire up but only because I wanted it off when the bike was off. On a GS that means removing the tank to get to the circuit you can use without throwing an electrical error.

F&F: Noticed a slightly larger gap between the front of the seat and the tank. It's worse when I use the seat in the low position, but with the seat in the high position it's acceptable.

I may someday break down and buy the all day saddle, but the more I ride this one the less I'm convinced I'll need to spend that kind of money. This one may just do the trick, after I get it fully broken in.
