Rukka AirAll Jacket

Ultra-premium summer mesh jacket construction meets class-leading Rukka protection. While cheap mesh jackets have to forgo ventilation for strength in the impact areas, high tech materials allow the entire surface of the Rukka Air All Jacket to flow air - essentially one big, abrasion-resistant vent.

The Rukka AirAll Jacket uses a proprietary Cordura AFT (Air Flow Technology) material developed in collaboration with DuPont. Maintaining abrasion-resistant properties of Cordura, AFT yields nearly twice the airflow, making it ideal for warm weather applications.

This Cordura AFT is doubled-up at the elbows for added durability, and then coupled with AFT Plus open weave mesh which is implemented safely away from impact areas for even better airflow at the inner arms and the sides of the torso.

Rukka’s D3O Air impact protectors are included at the elbows and shoulders and available in either the Air All Back or Air Full Back options for back protection (sold separately). Innovative, premium materials and Rukka’s expert motorcycle garment engineering combine to make the Rukka Air All Jacket one of the most advanced technical summer riding garments on the market.

Note: We have found the Rukka AirAll Jacket runs small and suggest going up if you are between sizes.

  • Knitted Cordura AFT and AFT plus
  • Knitted Cordura AFT in two layers on elbows

  • Includes Rukka D3O Air protectors in the elbows and shoulders

Beautiful jacket
I live in southwest Florida where the weather ranges from warm to hot.
I bought a gray Airall. Can't see wearing black in the Florida sun. The gray version is a light silvery gray and, together with the smooth lines of the, jacket, is a really handsome piece of protective wear.
I just took it on its maiden ride. I was curious if it flowed air as well as my previous jacket, a mesh jacket. It did, but it felt different. I could feel the wind blowing through my mesh jacket, but the Airall's woven fabric reduces the wind and makes the jacket feel air-conditioned.
This jacket is as pretty as a race cut Dianese, but more comfortable.

Not your standard mesh
I purchased my AirAll a couple of weeks ago and had it on today for a 45 minute commute through stop-and-go traffic in the mid-80s Fahrenheit. First thing I noticed: you can feel air moving through the entire jacket, not just a couple of places as normal with typical mesh jackets. In my old summer jackets I would have been pit stain central after sitting in traffic like I did today, but in the AirAll the worst I ever got was "eh, it's a little warm".

Fit:

I'm 6', 185lbs, 42" chest, moderate athletic build, and the size 50 fits me spot on. Follow RevZilla's instructions and order a size down from what's on the chart. (These instructions are why I marked the fit "True" and not "Large".)

Finish:

The Cordura AFT fabric feels soft to the hand; it's not stiff, there's no break-in required, and it's incredibly comfortable. As I mentioned, the jacket flows air pretty much everywhere, with a bit less airflow in the impact areas, which I think has more to do with the armor than the extra layer of AFT there. Rukka's stitching is top-notch; I've noticed no loose threads, dangly bits, popped seams or the like. The cuff and neck closures work well (and easily), and the bicep and waist adjusters make it easy to tweak the fit to your taste.

The D30 armor feels solid, provides excellent coverage, and stays in place when putting on/taking off/wearing the AirAll. I ordered the Air All-Back back protector to put in my jacket, and it covers my entire back to just past my waist.

There are only two quirks I've noticed with the AirAll: first, the crotch strap, which I've not seen before on any of my other gear. It's attached at the lower middle of the back, under the pocket for the back pad, and goes under your crotch (duh) to be attached to a loop on the right front hem of the jacket. Unusual, perhaps, but it works well to keep the hem of the jacket from riding up, is not uncomfortable at all, and is easy to keep out of the way when needed.

Second: the zipper pull in my jacket is on the left, not the right. No big deal.

Conclusion:

Long story short, I like the AirAll so much I'm buying the matching pants to go with it It's 10x more comfortable than any other summer jacket I've owned (mesh, leather, or textile), flows tons of air throughout the whole jacket, and seems incredibly well put together. The only reason I gave it 4/5 for "bang for the buck" is it's already a C-note more than something like the Klim Induction, and it doesn't include a back protector (the Induction does). The AirAll jacket+pants plus my TCX X-Cubed Evo Air boots are my new summer wardrobe for the bike.

Shocked how well it works
I have been watching this new Rukka gear since it came out and just couldn't get myself to buy it as I have the Klim Induction jacket. The last few weekends have been miserably hot in So Cal so I decided to give this technology a shot but honestly figured it wasn't going to really be better than the Klim and worth the $450 and I would be sending back. Well I couldn't have been more wrong! Not sure how it works but I hadnt shifted out of 2nd gear before I realized this stuff really was amazing. Air was flowing through the entire jacket (even my back somehow) instead of just where the mesh was in my Klim. First time I stopped I took off the tags knowing I would not be returning this jacket. As soon as I got home from my ride I immediately ordered the matching pants which also are a complete "game changer" in the heat!
Last weekend I was going through Lake Elsinore where it was over 100 degrees which though still of course miserable, was at least tolerable with the air flow through both the jacket and pants.
I am definitely always very skeptical when I hear about new technologies like this and I thought for someone like me that looks the the materiel and has trouble seeing how air gets through that fabric I would share my experience.

Love this jacket
Just got this jacket and I love it. First, sizing. I followed the advice on the video and went down a size from 52 to 50. That seems to have been the right call. At first I thought it was too small in the chest, but it fits perfectly there. (I think I was a bit thrown off by the length of the jacket; as the video says it's a waist length jacket). Then I thought I needed to go down a size because it seemed the elbow armor sagged. But in the riding position, it moves perfectly into place.

The look, quality, and feel of the jacket is evident. I also have an Olympia, and in terms of feel and construction, the Rukka is hands down better. It's a jacket I'd have no problem wearing in public off of my bike. It has amazing comfort for a mesh jacket.

As for breathability, it's a bit of a surprise. The jacket doesn't flow air like another mesh, but you stay surprisingly cool nonetheless. The Cordura ATF allows for good air flow without actually feeling the air flow. (It's a. It hard to describe). I just finished a ride in Austin, and it surely hit 100. I was sweating underneath, to say the least, but absent a jacket with a built in AC unit, that's just gonna happen. But at no point did I feel it was unbearable.

As for protection, this is a solid jacket. The elbow and shoulder D30 armor are solid, and the all back armor I got with it seems like it could protect your back in a brutal fall. (Hope I never have to find out).

So I'm really pleased with the purchase and, in fact, am also getting the matching pants. If they're as nice as the jacket, I'll be a happy camper.

Pleasantly surprised
I live in San Antonio, Texas. We have really only 2 seasons of any length - hot and very hot. It was over 90 degrees last weekend, and when in motion the amount of air that passes through this jacket is almost unbelieveable. I purchased the optional back protector and am pleased with the armor. The quality of construction is high, and the jacket is sporty looking. I recommend it highly for anyone who lives in a hot climate.

Very Pleased
Sizing - Im 52 yo, 5-11, 190. size 54 While i'd like to be my more athletic, youthful self...that was then. Have a size 52 air man jacket and its just too snug in my mid section to be comfortable. Good news is that the gore-tex liner from that jacket fits me nicely and i can use it with this jacket... I actually prefer the liner not be "installed' but rather just worn as a layer.

Construction - the weight of this jacket is good, lighter than I expected. I prefer the simplicity of the velcro cuffs to zippered for this style of jacket...its quicker; and while I like the magnets on my air man, the velcro on the collar is sufficient and really is more secure. Pockets are sufficient,; not too many to keep track of your stuff.. I prefer the shorter length of this this jacket to that of the air man.

I purchased the cement color and agree with poster from florida that it is attractive. The Rukka AirAll is exactly what i was looking for in a two season jacket.

Summer option with looks and protection
I researched tirelessly for a summer jacket that appeared to be sleek and minimal but with adequate protection. Was really focused on all mesh - Knox Zephyr, Vanson Ventmax, BMW Venting made final cut - but reviews on Rukka AirAll sold me and where I landed.

STYLE - It's really a great looking jacket, Euro and short – ends right at waist. I went with silver color to ward off sun.

FIT - I'm 6'1" 190lb wide shoulders 34 waist and 52 is perfect, with full back armor in or out.

ARMOR – No back armor comes with, so purchased Rukka D30 all back but it's just massive @ 21” H and will return. As much as I value safety, will replace with something substantial but not as tall and thick

I will have to test and weigh in later for summer air flow and comfort as riding season has only just now started in NJ.

Better than mesh but some quirks
After trying a Cortech and a Rev it, being disappointed in both of those i decided to raise my budget and see what $500 might get me. Ordered the grey/silver, it's nice looking and well made, very light. Gear geek said these were sized for Finnish lumberjacks...he was right so do size down. It fits well and holds it's structure. Some mesh jackets look sloppy but this looks sharp and neat. It's not really short like a sport bike jacket but not long like a tour jacket...just right for my cruiser. I rode it today in 102 degrees... for the most part I like it. It moves air okay I wouldn't rave like others but it is very dry here in Phoenix so maybe that's the difference.
To add to the video - the waterproof pocket is a little roll top bag snapped to the zipper inside the pocket. As my jacket may never see rain, I will remove it to allow more airflow as air flows through the entire jacket as others mentioned. The armour is barely noticeable but no back protector at this price?

Here is what I don't like. A crotch strap is a good idea but also a pant zip? Doesn't need a pant zip and would be cleaner design without it.

I don't like the collar with the extra long Velcro flap which snags everything when you try to put it on. I'd prefer a neck closure that is either removable or that folds back out of the way - this one folds over but towards your neck so you can't help but feel it flopping at you and scratching your neck. Otherwise the collar has a nice soft fabric.

But what really annoys me are the sleeves. Only one reviewer mentioned the sleeves which suprises me because it's the elephant in the room... look at the video again and notice the sleeve ends are styled like 70s bell bottoms an extra panel of flared fabric about 1.5 inches wide is sewn in. I am trying to figure out why. Maybe so you can tuck gloves underneath easier and air can blow up the sleeves? But if you cinch them up you get a big fold of fabric and Velcro...ruins an otherwise nice trim jacket with two bubbles of fabric around your wrists... very odd and maybe belongs on an all weather touring jacket? If anywhere. Made worse by the exceptionally long sleeves... I ride with my arms stretched out and they are still at least an inch too long. These two shortcomings add up to one big annoying. The sleeves on this jacket are like wearing a French cuff dress shirt... without the cuff links... kinda floppy and sloppy. It's weird.
But it's the best summer jacket I have tried. Is it worth double a Rev It GT? That's the $200 question I am debating.

Riding in 105° heat index!
I purchased this jacket because I was so impressed with my RUKKA cold weather jacket. Everything is perfect, the only reason I didn't give it 5/5 for protection is it doesn't include back armor. I purchased the All Back RUKKA armor when I purchased the jacket, and highly recommend everyone else does as well.

Now to what most riders want to know, how is it in how weather. I went riding today in Oklahoma the temp was 95° with a 105° heat index. 12mph S wind and 46% humidity. I ride a cruiser in the upright position. I drove around the city, and on the highway. At no time did I feel like I was over heating. It was warm but not uncomfortable and the jacket breathes better than any mesh jacket I have owned.

I hope this helps

Great looking jacket ,flows well, flimsy zipper
I want to love this jacket, it looks so good on me ! The Good: Great styling, euro cut, flows air beautifully and I stayed as cool in 93F in Virginia as my old mesh gear. Don't know how they managed it, but it works. The fabric seems so sheer, my instincts tell me if it meets asphalt it's not gonna fare well. The armor is quite impressive tho so there's that. Collar and sleeves worked great for me, and I don't really get the criticism from other reviewers. The Bad: I don't know what they were thinking with the main zipper being so light duty as to be more appropriate to a women's dress. I had to be very careful to snap the bottom snap prior to zipping up all the way or risk the zipper starting to unzip itself from the bottom! Not really acceptable in a 450 $ garment. I might have sent this jacket back if I wasn't already sweating in it by the time this became apparent. One other thing, if you plan on ordering the optional D3O back armor beware that it is so thick that it takes up a large amount of interior space, equivalent to at least a half size, so if you are in between sizes, opt for the larger if you're going to do the armor. Overall this is an innovative great looking jacket that performs as well in the heat for me as my old full mesh, marred only by a flimsy zipper !
