Jacket is great... liner not so much
I bought the jacket as a replacement for my older Rev'IT textile jacket that lasted me for 5+ years. The older jacket's durability made me pick Rev'IT again and it still looks great has no issues.

Here are the Pros / Cons of REV'IT traction jacket:

Pros:
- Offers good protection.
- Looks great / love the bomber-style jacket design.
- Great airflow.

Cons:
The only thing that's holding me from giving a 5-star review is the jacket's removable liner. The openings of the sleeves are simply too small.

I wear an Apple Watch when I am riding. When I put the jacket on, I have to remove my watch, put the jacket on, then wear my watch again. Have to do the same thing when taking the jacket off.

Even without wearing a watch, it's not easy taking off the jacket with the liner on. Openings in the liner sleeves are too small

The hooks on the liner's sleeves are essentially strips that you need to pass through hooks to attach on the sleeves. They tend to get tangled up pretty easily which makes removal of the liner a problem.

There is a good chance you will rip the hooks for the jacket as you attempt to take your jacket off. ( I did in the first week).

Without the liner, no issues whatsoever.

Absolutely love this jacket
I love this jacket so much that I feel like I owe it to the Revzilla community to leave a review so other people buy this too and get to experience the greatness that I have. It's super comfortable, really high quality, very protective and flows air amazingly well. Plus with the zip in liner it works well for a huge range of temperatures. Buy this. You won't regret it. As for the backstory - I bought this in April for an overnight trip through Death Valley where the temperatures would be 100 degrees during the day and down to 50 at night. With just a t-shirt and the jacket I was totally comfortable at 100 degrees, and then with the liner zipped in plus a light hoodie, I was warm and toasty riding at night in 50 degrees. I couldn't believe this jacket did so well over such a vast temperature range. The fit is a tiny bit on the small side. I'm 5'6" and 190 lbs and normally wear a size large t-shirt, size 42 short suit jacket and size 34 jeans. I actually tried the Large and it worked but was a little bit tight for my taste, so I switched to an XL and it fits great. The material has stretch so when I just wear a t-shirt it fits close to the skin and isn't baggy, but when I throw a sweatshirt on and zip in the jacket liner, I still have plenty of room to move on the bike without the jacket feeling tight. For comparison I have a leather Dianese Razon jacket that's a size 54, and this XL fits me like that one. If you like a snug fit you might be fine ordering your normal size, but I like the XL over the L to have a little more room to move. And because it's a stretchy fabric it doesn't bunch up and whip around in the wind like my pervious cheap mesh jacket. It all sits close to the body and lets a ton of air flow through the whole thing to keep you cool. Also I love the arm cuffs and the neck cuff. The material is soft and comfortable. I was worried it would actually get hot but it doesn't at all. Overall the jacket is such a premium version of a standard mesh jacket that it's nothing like the cheap ones. The cheap ones feel like they're no protection at all, but this mesh is thick and durable and the armor is well placed, doesn't move at all, and is so comfortable you forget it's there. I bought the optional back protection too and love it as well. It's thin but protective. I don't notice it at all when I ride with it. Really I can't express how much I love this thing. I always read so many Revzilla reviews before I buy something and was concerned there weren't many reviews when I bought it, which is really the reason I'm writing this now. I'm blown away by the quality, comfort and air flow of this jacket while still having a high level of protection. I highly recommend it. I spent half my ride to Death Valley writing this review in my head, and then forgot to actually post something when I got home. But now it's June in LA and getting warm, so I busted this jacket out of my closet for a ride this morning and remembered that I owed Revzilla a review. Now with it out of my head and posted online I can ride on knowing I've tried to do my part to help other Revzilla readers make a good decision on their next jacket. Hope this helps someone. Enjoy.

Post-Crash Review
I bought this jacket a few months ago and didn’t have anything more to offer in a review than what was here. It’s stylish, fits well, and flows a lot of air, just as other reviewers have mentioned.

What’s rare in these reviews is to hear from someone who went down on the bike while wearing the item. That’s what we’re all here for, in theory, is to get protection.

I lost my bike on gravel taking a left hander in the ballpark of 20+ mph. I’m just over 200 lbs and it was on roughly surfaced asphalt in poor condition. The soft armor in the elbow did admirably (the doctor was shocked the bone hadn’t broken, given this was my first point of contact) leaving me with no bruising and only minor rash from rubbing on the fabric. There was wear-through in the upper forearm in a small patch where the majority of my weight was on it, only above the armor and never through the second layer.

It wasn’t a highway speed accident, but it was a real world test passed with flying colors. Nothing can protect the wearer from everything, but it did as much as a jacket could do, and I will likely replace it with another of the same.

Great Summer Jacket!
Received this jacket and the first thing I noticed was how light it was. It felt like I was wearing a normal jacket but I still felt well protected. I have worn other mesh jackets before but they still felt heavy and gave only decent air flow. This jackets PWR Mesh flows a ton of air even on the arms and that is a nice bonus if you live in the hot humid south. I thought the collar might be itchy just from the looks of it but it felt cool and comfortable. I can't speak for the liner since I took it out and haven't had the chance to ride with it on yet. The overall looks and feel of the jacket are very nice. It feels well made and I have already gotten compliments on the looks. If you are looking for a nice summer jacket that will keep you cool all the while looking sharp I would definitely recommend this one.

The best summer jacket I’ve ever had!!
This is an awesome summer jacket!!

Bought a size large and the fit is excellent!

Me:
5ft 8in
180lbs
43in chest
33in waist
33.5in arm length
Athletic build. Usually have trouble finding jackets that are not to tight around the bicep.

Fist. The jacket looks great. It is super comfortable. I was hesitant to order due to the elasticated cuffs and waist. As soon as i put it on it changed my mind. This jacket has a lot of stretch and give to it supper comfortable to stand around in as well as upright and 3/4 position on the bike. Every other mesh jacket I’ve had has been a compromise is chest size vs. arm length. This thing fits spot on. My wife even said “wow that looks great on you”.

The liner is more comfortable than most but i will probably never use it and it does seem the liners wrist cuffs are a smaller diameter than most. It DOES NOT come with a back protector. It says so in the description but just be aware. I may upgrade mine but for now I’m just going to use the one from my previous jacket.

Kinda pricey for a mesh jacket but i had 30 zilla bucks and it does seem like a quality bit of gear.

The “green” color is really a Kaki color. The zipper is OD green. A lot like the look of a WWII Tanker jacket.. Closer to tan than green

Love it so far????

In a word, WOW
I have a LOT of awesome jackets in Textile and Leather from Rev'it, Klim, BMW, A Stars , and Dianese so I'm no stranger to high style and sometimes even higher prices but once in a while I get lucky and find something that strikes a home run with my sense of style and function and this baby really does just that.

Important. I always buy the size that Anthony uses on His Viz Brian. This was no exception and I went with the large to fit my 5'9'' / 42''chest . 36 inch waist, and the large fits me like I had a tailor make it custom for me. Very European cut in my opinion and on HVB frankly it look a bit sloppy or baggy perhaps and I know we are both very close to body builds at 185 and 190 so I'm assuming his was a prototype as mine fits much more like a jacket you ride . Tomorrow I plan to ride it in the serious summer heat we are experiencing in the South of Georgia and hoping it will keep things circulating as well as looking really spot on styling on my new Triumph Street Scrambler. I did not need anther mesh jacket but the tannish military spec color way just shouts out period piece and the knit cuffs suggest with a wind breaker underneath should go well into the fall maybe , we'll see.

As for durability I put four stars as sadly some of the Rev'it items I've bought recently have not worn as well as in the past but all in this one doesn't look as fragile out of the box so maybe they have been listening to some of these reviews.

If you are rocking a new classic style and want a mildly armored riding jacket for moving air over your body while riding in the heat this one should be high on your list. I will see if they let me post up an update after riding it in the super heated Atlanta weather tomorrow.

Simplicity is the name of the game
I tried a lot of different jackets before settling on the Traction. I was looking for a simple design, not a fan of belts, snaps, liners, neck straps, massive logos, etc. A lot of summer mesh jackets look sloppy. Joe Rocket for example. Some have wussy zippers like the Cortech I tried. The Traction has structure, a nice cut and a strong zipper. Love the knit cuffs, knit hem, open collar and subtle branding. No sleeve zippers, waist straps etc, just pull it on and off you go. The low cut neckline makes sense for a summer jacket, I personally don't want a tall neckline with a snap strap like many summer jackets have. It has a liner - I live in Phoenix it will never see use but I did try it on and it is great quality and I had no issue getting my very large watch through the sleeve. The armour is barely noticeable I do feel a little under protected, maybe CE1 is a little too light. in the black color you can't see the vent holes mentioned in the video. I bought the back protector - it fits perfectly, it is very thick four layers deep but not noticeable when wearing. The fabric is not mesh, it does breathe but not as mesh would. Fits a little snug but not enough to change sizes. It's a shorter jacket, more sport than touring length. My first choice was the Rukka and it was a nicer fabric, very good looking but ridiculously bulky sleeves. I considered the Reax Alta ... also a nice clean design, higher grade armour and a better value but at this point I had ordered and returned a few jackets so I didn't experience it but do look at it if you want a simple and clean design.
I like this jacket a lot it's very different from other summer jackets and to me that's a good thing.

I just love this jacket
First summer jacket (my other one's a vintage Schott Perfecto). Sure it's a bit on the pricey side, but for that you get the toughest mesh, everywhere. Not just front and back but in all high-impact aras as well. I've been riding in 95 dg, 95% humidity NYC summer and it works like a charm.
I really like the fit/design: it's slim and tight, not boxy. I'm 6'1, 155lbs, used the chart and bought size M together with the Seesoft Back Protector Insert and it fits like a glove.
The bad: If you're not moving then no air flows through, obviously. So for this -or any summer jacket- to work you have to be moving (this is not the jacket's fault, but the damned NYC traffic).

Awesome Jacket
True to the video review, I’ve been riding on Hot days and this jacket provides substantial airflow. Love the fit sleeve run a bit shorter than I expected so keep that in mind. It’s not drastic just about 1 inch to 1 & 1/2 inches shorter. Gloves make up for the sleeve diference.

The picture of the green jacket is a lot darken than the one you are reviewing in the video. Are those 2 different color options?
A shopper on Jan 14, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I've seen this jacket for real and the video matches the color better than the picture.
However I've noticed on the video that the zipper seems to be a bit greener in comparison to the collar and cuffs while actually the colors are matching.
The size chart doesn't seem to actually illustrate the fit of the alpha sizes... I am just under 40" chest and 33 inch waist. Should I get medium? Large?
Darrin K on Apr 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Cannot speak specifically about this jack, but I own two other Revit jackets and they run small, which is not uncommon for European products. I would definitely recommend a large for your stature...
Does the liner for this jacket have sleeves or is it a vest only?
A shopper on Jan 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The liner has sleeves that can be attached with loops on the inside off the cuffs.
What would you use to clean this type of jacket?
David C on Aug 9, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Never use cleaning products that contain bleach, solvents or other chemical products. No washing powder. Never scrub waterproof or breathable membranes. Do not expose waterproof or breathable membranes to intense heat or prolonged direct sunlight. Machine washing is fine at cool temperatures zip and snap everything closed, then leave out to hang dry in room temperature.
Does this not come with armor besides the shoulders? Like elbows?
Raymond G on Apr 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Comes with armor in the shoulders and elbows. Does not come with a back protector though.
Revzilla refers the Traction to the Tornado 2. To someone who has worn both, what are the redeeming benefits of both that make one or the other a better buy?
