REV'IT Philly 2 Jeans

If the REVIT Philly 2 Jeans were designed after how drivers treat motorcyclists here in the city of brotherly love, they would be cut-offs! Luckily the REVIT Philly Jeans are as relaxed in fit as we wish our four-wheeled brothers were behind the wheel. Featuring a straight American cut, the Philly jeans are REV’IT’s loosest-fitting, most comfortable riding jeans. Adjustable, removable Seesmart CE-rated armor comes standard at the knees and there are pockets ready to accept Seesmart CE-rated hip protectors (sold separately) so you can run them “wit or witout” the low profile hip and knee armor depending on your needs. Constructed of a lightweight single-layer 12.5oz Coolmax Cordura denim, The REVIT Philly Jeans have the fit you are looking for and the protection you need to take on the anarchy of the Schuylkill expressway.

Note: The REV'IT Philly 2 Jeans run large in the waist and we suggest going down if you are between sizes.

Protection Features:

  • Outer Shell: 12.5oz Cordura denim with CoolMax element
  • Lining: poly/cotton twill
  • Composition:
    • outer shell: 50% cotton, 30% polyester, 20% polyamide
    • lining: 50% cotton, 50% polyester
    • protective layer: 100% polyamide
  • Protection: Seesmart CE-level 1 protection at knee, pocket for Seesmart CE level 1 hip protectors (sold separately), double layered with PWR|shield at seat and knees, safety stitching at inseam

Ergonomic Features:

  • Fit: loose fit
  • Features: zipper fly front closure, comfort seat, triple needle stitching at side seams and back, safety stitching at inseam and comfort seat, extra comfort by mechanical stretch of outer shell, moisture-wicking function by CoolMax element
  • Pockets: 5 jean pockets

Note: The liner in the rear seat is stitched down to the outer fabric, so there is a line of stitching horizontally from inseam to outseam not seen in the video.

Finally Euro jeans that are not skinny
I hate the slim or skinny Euro jeans. My strong calfs and thighs do not fit in them. These jeans are an exception. They fit like a glove. They are also not hot like most kevlar jeans. I can feel the cooling fabric on the back of my legs.

great design
These Philly 2 jeans are really well designed. The fit is loose (more straight) and not baggy. I tried them vs. the Lombard 2 which I found to be a strange cut (too loose up top and tapered/skinny below the knee). The Philly 2 feels sturdy and comes with Seesoft armor in the knees. Unfortunately, if you want the Seesoft hip armor, you have to buy those separately. There are pockets for the hip armor. The dark gray is a faded, worn looking color which looks really good. These aren't cheap, but I think they're worth the cost.

Clasic American Fit
So,

Let's begin first off these Jeans are my first pair of motorcycle riding jeans I bought them for a few reasons. After doing extensive research into motorcycle jeans. I think everyone when looking for a great motorcycle jean is looking for style and functional protection and let me tell you REV'IT nailed it with Philly 2 jeans the style is perfect I ordered the darker blue version. It matches with all my motorcycle jackets. And if you were in a pinch and needed a quick pair of jeans for a night out these would work too! Now when we talk about protection IMO you (might) be able to find one in Dainese section in specific Dainese D1 EVO Jeans Kit J. but not in a classic American fit. Personally I have larger legs so if you are an athletic person that has some legs these are your best bet.

Second, Features these jeans are loaded with options knee protection hip protection ( you have to buy that extra ) deep pockets and very functional. + the 3M reflective tap is a huge Plus IMO.

Third, Lets talk about Air flow so it's January right now as I'm writing this review I was able to get out on the bike we had a warmish day 48 Degrees Fahrenheit and I rode for maybe two hours they did a great job at keeping my legs warm I didn't have any thermals on just these Jeans. I was cool and at higher speeds I could feel cooler wind on my skin so I'm going to give them a 3/5 because they kept me warm. But I do think they would be a great choice for the summer as well.

I would recommend these jeans to any fellow rider! Extremely satisfied customer!

Better fit than original Philly....
I own the original Philly and they fit a little loose also they seemed to stretch a little around the waist. Thought the Philly 2 with the new SeeSoft armor and no horizontal knee seams would be worth a try. I like the new Philly 2 better than the Philly because the fit is not as loose in the legs. Also the new SeeSoft armor is a good improvement over the past harder armor for mobility and comfort. The only thing that is a little concerning is that when i ride on my bike and knees are bent the knee protection rides up so that I only have about an inch covering from the kneecap down. The old Philly, with hard armor covered more of the lower part of the knee. If the sewn in knee pocket was a little lower I would be feel a little more comfortable if I were to go down. That is only thing that is concerning otherwise it is a great jean and really like the look and fit better than the original Philly. Revzilla was great for advice and to deal with. Fast delivery as always.

Would be perfect if not for tacky distressing
If you are looking for a fit like levis 501s, heres your jean. These are a godsend for people that aren't super skinny and are reasonably athletic (you don't skip leg day).

Super comfortable and has protection in all the right places.

My only complaint about these jeans is the stupid, fake distressing that euro companies insist on ruining their jeans with (kudos to Rokker for offering a raw pair). The fake fading just looks tacky and unnatural. Seriously, Revzilla, these guys listen to you. Tell them to at least offer an option of a regular blue color.

These jeans should be called "comfy pants"
These Philly 2s are one of the most comfortable pair of jeans I've ever worn. I ride in them to work, wear them all day at the job(even with knee pads), and then return home in them. The elastic waste gives you plenty of room for growth after adult beverages too.

These pants are as comfortable as wearing sweatpants but with nothing short of full protection. I haven't worn them with the hip sliders because they are new and the hip protectors aren't in stock yet but so far so good

More comfortable than my non-riding jeans
I received these jeans and immediately put them on to check for fit. They were so comfortable that I ended up wearing them all day, and forgot I had riding jeans on.

Fit is true to size for me. I wear 30x32 jeans, so I ordered 30x32 in the Philly 2 Jeans and they are perfect...even after adding SeeSoft hip armor.

Just some info on fit
I've been through a buy and return cycle with a bunch of Rev'it riding jeans trying to find my favorite (THANK YOU REVZILLA!). I returned these, but I want to share my thoughts on fit in case it helps someone.

I'm 6'0" tall, 180. I wear a 31x34 or 32x34 in a normal jean. I have a 31x34 pair of Rev'it Austins that fit great until I'm in riding position and then the cuffs ride up too much. That got to bugging me too much so I decided to go on a quest for a better fit.

Here's what I tried in order of bagginess:

Philly 2, 32x36 - Way too baggy for me and not what I'd call a regular fit. Waist felt more like a 33. Length seemed good.

Lombard 2, 32x36 - Returned these right away. The waist was almost too tight to button. Felt more like a 31 or even 30. I know, I know - this guy is kidding himself about being a 32. I promise you, I have no less than 12 pair of 32 or 31 waist pants I wear regularly. Weird, because the 32x36 Philly felt too big (see above). I rechecked the tag multiple times to make sure it wasn't a mistake. Length was perfect.

Lombard 2 34x36 - Felt like a 32 waist. Was what I would call a regular/relaxed fit. These aren't baggy and aren't slim. Not quite "dad jeans", but getting there. The hips ballooned out a little. Length was perfect. If not for the hips thing I would have kept these.

Orlando H2O, 31x34 - Great fit. I would call it regular fit with an almost perfect taper. Returned because the length was perfect standing up, which means they'd be not perfect in riding position. Also They are waterproof and the reviews about the airflow scared me off ultimately.

Orlando H2O 32x36 - Perfect fit!!! Not so tight they were stuck to my legs, but not show-your-undies-baggy and not grow-a-beard-and-treat-people-like-crap tight. Also totally not a dad jean. But the waterproof airflow problem led me to return. Gotta wear these in 100+ heat. The Lombard was the closest thing to these in a non-wp, but see above.

Austin, 32x36 - This what I ultimately settled on. They are a touch looser in the legs than the 31x34 Austins I used all last summer. That and the extra length should keep my shy ankles happy. Strangely enough, the waist in these feels exactly like the waist in the 31x34 Austin.

Austin, 31x34 - Still reading? See above. Great fit, too short in riding position.

Almost but way too baggy for my needs
I am pretty particular with my denim. I would not say that I am a true "denim head" but I do only buy high-end Japanese raw high-end jeans. I wouldn't say price is no object, but the average pair of jeans in that range start at $300.

That is important as it will help put my comments into perspective. I work in technology and usually wear slacks and jeans of Friday. However, many people wear jeans most days. These, or course, must be sharp enough to wear with a dress shirt or Polo and oxfords or loafers as it is a professional work environment. Obviously boot cut or baggy, sloppy looking denim is out. I tend to ride with over pants over my slacks but wanted a good pair of jeans to commute in.

I ordered about 12 pairs over the last few weeks trying to find something that I can live with but still offers decent protection. Everything from Alpinestars to Speed and Strength. I think the best looking from a denim quality was Dianese. Jeans were an attractive dark indigo and were stiff like a good pair of new jeans. However, protection was lacking with a tiny bit of Kevlar and very thin and small knee pads. Legs were a bit too slim as I am an athletic guy.

I tried three different sets of Speed and Strength because why not, they are only $100. The material is stretch which makes it look a bit fuzzy and not exactly office wear. However, the fit is where they don't work. Some were tight like yoga pants and they had so much stretch that if you bend over you will get plumbers crack. Other models were too loose and fit like Walmart jeans. Overall, the stretch in the jeans made me seriously doubt the ability to protect as the armor moves with any pressure on it. Overall, they did not fit well, looked cheap, and I do not think they offered enough protection.

Bull-It was similar to Speed and Strength and I would avoid any further attempts to make them work. They also had velcro on the inside that was scratching my legs no matter how much I tried to adjust it.

I like the Rev'It brand and really wanted the Philly II jeans to work. However, the flare at the bottom of the legs looked ridiculous and overall the jean was baggy. The jeans seemed well built but the denim did not look high end. Initially I ordered a second pair in 32 (vs the 34 that I had ordered) but I ended up canceling it as the more I thought about them, the less I liked them.

I finally got the Alpinestars Copper Out. They had half sizes--which was a plus as I usually wear 33 or 34 in US denim and 36 in Japanese denim. Initially, I ordered the 33. Great quality denim! These are stiff like a new pair of Iron Heart or Sugarcane jeans. I'm sure they are not 100% indigo dyed but who really cares. Great knee pads which are included. They are thicker and longer than some of the other pads received in other jeans but are not bulky. These are also the only pair that came with hip pads. The great feature on these is that you can remove the knee pads if you want to go on a long walk or if you are standing all day. I find them comfortable as is though. However, the 33 was great in the waist, but tight in the legs. I ended up exchanging for the 34 and although there is an extra inch in the waist, the rest of the jeans fit great and are comfortable and stylish.

It was a long process, but I'm glad that I finally found the Alpinestars Copper Out.

Offer more protection than just a pair of blues jeans without looking overly bulky, or like I'm about to hit the track.
jesse w on Mar 28, 2017
Great looking jeans and fits me well, good protection with out adding too much bulk, I added the hip protection as well and do not feel the protector is in place, but I know I am protected. It's selling fast so grab one when you can as soon as you can.

Good deal on these jeans. I've always wanted a pair of riding jeans to wear into work. I like the style and am hoping the relaxed fit works out on me.

When will these be available?

Will they accommodate a muscular thigh around 25" or so in diameter?
Wade R on Apr 26, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The cut is fairly loose - I'm 6ft1 240 lbs, former competitive powerlifter. Big thighs (28") from a ton of squats....I really struggle with finding jeans but these fit amazingly. They're loose enough and slightly stretchy. Highly recommended
Would Bohn Cool Max armor pants fit under these jeans?
A C on Aug 14, 2017
r this true to size ? after readining the reviews most people say its a bit large on the waist. i wear 32x32 in all brands (levis, wrangler, lee and even bull-it riding jeans. what size should i get ?

thanks
Hadi A on Feb 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I think they run large on waist. I wear 32 waist in levis/others and need a 31 with this and other rev'it jeans. And even going down to the 31, I have a bit more room than I would like in the waist.
Can the knee armor be removed?
A shopper on Mar 20, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can remove the knee pads which makes washing the jeans easy. I also put in hip pads and they go in and out the same way. Hope this helps.
Are these button fly?
Jeffery K on Mar 18, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Nope, zipper fly. Wore them today and love them.
how wide is the cuff. Will it fit over alpinestars smx plus boots?
Rick S on Jun 4, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It should fit over those just fine. I have worn these with SMX-5 boots and Sidi adventure boots. The cuff on my pair (size 36) is about 18.5in in circumference.
How do these compare to a pair of Wrangler carpenter jeans? Fit and comfort are very subjective, and what most people call "relaxed" I would call pretty snug. I usually wear carpenter jeans, which most people call "baggy".

For reference, I have the physique of a broomstick: 6'2", 160lbs, 32" waist, 38" hips, and 31" inseam.
Samuel B on Apr 30, 2018
BEST ANSWER: I find them to be a relaxed fit, In cooler weather I can wear long johns under them and not feel snug. I also wear carpenter jeans at work as well. For reference I am 6ft 200lb and usually wear 34x 34 in wranglers and levis. I really like them and actually bought another pair this year.
Anyone know which see smart hip protectors are for this jean, rv30 or rv33?
JOHN C on Feb 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Bought these in 34x34 little over a year ago and then purchased the RV33. These hip protectors fit perfect. Rick
Hey I'm right around a size 32-33 in Levi's but going to a 34 are typically really baggy in the rear. Would the 33's and hemmed up to 32 be my best bet?
Andrew S on Jun 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: These fit me on the large size. I'm a 32 in everything and theb32 in these fit a little baggy. Didnt bother me but if you want a "thinner" fit go a size down.
