Stylish and Protective!
THE COMPETITION:
I tried the AGV Sport Corsica jeans and the shape and fit were terrible. The legs were cut like long rectangles with no curve or taper to them. Then I looked at the Dainese Bonnevilles and Strokevilles. Both were stylish but both were inadequate in terms of protection. REV'IT's Philly 2 are identical in price but are looser in fit.

ACTUAL REVIEW:
I stumbled upon the REV'IT Lombard 2 jeans and became very excited because they seemed to offer everything that I wanted! Lets break down the review into a few categories.

BANG FOR BUCK:
These jeans are incredible when it comes to value for dollar. Not only are they stylish but offer great abrasion resistance while breathing better than traditional kevlar jeans. Consider me happy.

PROTECTION to STYLE RATIO:
Now this is the category where I struggled the most with other jeans. All the stylish jeans didn't have enough protection and all the protective jeans didn't have the style! I'm a young college dude that cares a lot about style and fashion. I need jeans to look great off the bike but don't skimp on abrasion resistance and impact protection. Rokker jeans (which are over double the price) offer the best abrasion resistance out of any jeans. That being said, these seem to be the next best option for those of use who ride on a budget. Impact protection is adequate. There are pockets for hip armor and knee armor comes standard which is fantastic. That being said, the Seesmart armor that REV'IT uses gives me mixed feelings. On one hand, you literally can't even feel them. They're incredibly light and flexible. I LOVE that. On the other hand, if I were to go down, I don't think they'd offer as much protection as D30 would... Keep in mind that they are CE 1 certified so that does give me some peace of mind.

FIT:
I'm 5'11 and weigh 140lbs. I have an athletic build with some muscle mass on my thighs but I have toothpicks in place of calves. These jeans have some extra room up top and taper down very nicely near the calves. This is perfect for me. The previous reviewer said that the seat was too baggy for him. While I'd be happier if the seat was a liiitle slimmer, I wouldn't consider these to be baggy. Perhaps if you're thighs are just as skinny as your calves, then you might find these jeans to be baggy in the seat. But if you legs have a natural taper to them, you'll likely be very happy with the jeans.

Tested these jeans in a crash
I've recently low-sided wearing these jeans. It was a low-speed accident. I was surprised when I discovered that the jeans did not hold it - a couple smaller holes at the hip level on the side and a significant one at the knee.

Love them! Slim, comfortable, like protective Levi 511s
These are exactly what I have been searching for: basic slim casual/stylish look but with more protection than regular denim without being full-on riding gear.

HUGE factor, these look like regular denim jeans, which is a make-or-break requirement for me in riding denim. I am never going to wear a pair with embroidered pockets and obvious stitching all over. I will wear these Lombard2s all day long, anywhere.

PROTECTION
Not track or canyon carver protection, but between the cordura denim, the "pwr shield" layer (which I still don't totally understand, but hey it's better than just denim) and the knee armor (super light-weight, barely noticeable) these look like everday denim but much more protective. My wife didn't realize these were motorcycle-specific with knee pads until I pointed it out and she took a second look. They come with knee pads, and have pockets for optional SeeSmart hip protectors which I'm going to buy.

The SeeSmart padding looks almost too thin to provide much protection, but supposedly CE-rated, so I'd rather ride in these than regular denim. They are very comfortable, no stretching/pulling/wrinkles/etc at the knees.

REMOVEABLE
The Lombard2 knee-pads are removable. You could probably take out the knee pads by pulling the pants all the way to your ankles, but would have to take the pants off, putting them inside out, to get the pads back in. But the pads are so thin and barely noticeable that you really don't need to remove them unless washing or wanting to wear these just as regular jeans.

SIZING
These pants are slim, especially from the knee down, which is also a huge requirement for me. I commute to work and can't stand when the bottoms of my jeans are flapping in the wind. I have narrow legs especialy from the knee down and typically wear ~6-8 inch casual boots, these are perfect for me. Probably too narrow for guys with thick thighs or calves.

I'm 5'8" about 175lbs and typically wear a 32x30 jean casually without cuffing the ankles. I tend to opt for more 32x32 when riding for a little more ankle coverage and ordered the Lombard2 in 32x32. They fit great, I could wear them all day, but riding I feel like I could've used maybe another 1 inch in the length, but another 2 inches might be just a little too long for me when off-the-bike. The knee pads tend to take just a little more space than unpadded denim so I lose a litle length in riding position and these seem to be posititioned with maybe 1" more pad on top my knee than below. I probably should have opted for the longer 32x34 for more highway riding (I'll probably buy another pair), but for around-town casual riding and popping in/out of any sort of casual setting these are great.

FIT SIMILAR TO LEVI 511s
My go-to for every denim is a simple pair of Levi 511s or some Jack&Jones Tim denim, and these Lombard2s fit right in. While every pair of 511s fit different than others (Levi's isn't the most consistent) , these Lombard 2 could just about be re-labeled a 511. The exceptions being that the Lombard2 denim is far better (+protection), the Lombard2 tapers a little more from knee to ankle, the ankle opening is maybe an inch or so narrower on the Lombard2 (which I very much prefer), and the waist comes up just a little higher which is I also very much prefer for riding position. I'm over-doing the 511 reference because they are easy to find in department stores so if you're gun-shy about fit despite Revzilla's awesome return policy, go to a Levi store or department store and try on 3 or 4 different 511s (because they're all slightly different) then imagine them sturdier, better looking, with barely noticeable knee-padding, and narrower toward the ankle.

DENIM
I bought the blue, and I think it looks great. Looks similar to a raw denim, but not quite as stiff, has more stretch, and doesn't look all seat-belty like alot of the fabrics in other moto denim. The stiching is super minimal, which is a huge plus, no crazy euro embroidery for me.

COMPARISONS
The only other casual riding pants I can compare these to are my black Saint Unbreakable tapered-leg, and a pair of UglyBros Motorpools. I first bought the motorpools because I wanted some cool looking pants with padding for riding, and the padding is great, they are super comfortable and I love that you can easily slip the knee pads out the front without taking them off, but the cargo look just doesn't always work for me. The Saints I also really like for peace of mind with the near-indestructible fabric, but I feel they're a little too roomy from waist to knees, and waay too long (I'm too lazy to hem), and they lack any padding. Both the Saints and UglyBros are a few inches too long for me, so I should get them hemmed but am just too lazy. These Lombard2 fit perfect out of the package.

VERDICT
If you're looking for SLIM protective moto-denim that look like everyday jeans, you need these. My favorite pair of riding denim so far. I will be buying another... in black.

Knee armor sits too high. Buy +2 inch in length and roll up.
As others have noted, the fit is very similar to Levi's 511. I wear 30W 32L in pretty much all the jeans I've tried and the Lombard 2 fits just fine.
However, the knee armor pads sit at the correct position when I'm standing up, but ride up for 2 inches when I'm sitting on a bike. This is definitely not the correct position according to the manual since half of the armor pad is covering my thigh...
I reckon my legs are of normal proportion so I would suggest trying +2 length and roll up the bottoms.

Sharing some fit experience
Write your review here. It must be at least 25 characters long. Consider whether you would recommend this product and what you like or I've been through a buy and return cycle with a bunch of Rev'it riding jeans trying to find my favorite (THANK YOU REVZILLA!). I returned these, but I want to share my thoughts on fit in case it helps someone.

I'm 6'0" tall, 180. I wear a 31x34 or 32x34 in a normal jean. I have a 31x34 pair of Rev'it Austins that fit great until I'm in riding position and then the cuffs ride up too much. That got to bugging me too much so I decided to go on a quest for a better fit.

Here's what I tried in order of bagginess:

Philly 2, 32x36 - Way too baggy for me and not what I'd call a regular fit. Waist felt more like a 33. Length seemed good.

Lombard 2, 32x36 - Returned these right away. The waist was almost too tight to button. Felt more like a 31 or even 30. I know, I know - this guy is kidding himself about being a 32. I promise you, I have no less than 12 pair of 32 or 31 waist pants I wear regularly. Weird, because the 32x36 Philly felt too big (see above). I rechecked the tag multiple times to make sure it wasn't a mistake. Length was perfect.

Lombard 2 34x36 - Felt like a 32 waist. Was what I would call a regular/relaxed fit. These aren't baggy and aren't slim. Not quite "dad jeans", but getting there. The hips ballooned out a little. Length was perfect. If not for the hips thing I would have kept these.

Orlando H2O, 31x34 - Great fit. I would call it regular fit with an almost perfect taper. Returned because the length was perfect standing up, which means they'd be not perfect in riding position. Also They are waterproof and the reviews about the airflow scared me off ultimately.

Orlando H2O 32x36 - Perfect fit!!! Not so tight they were stuck to my legs, but not show-your-undies-baggy and not grow-a-beard-and-treat-people-like-crap tight. Also totally not a dad jean. But the waterproof airflow problem led me to return. Gotta wear these in 100+ heat. The Lombard was the closest thing to these in a non-wp, but see above.

Austin, 32x36 - This what I ultimately settled on. They are a touch looser in the legs than the 31x34 Austins I used all last summer. That and the extra length should keep my shy ankles happy. Strangely enough, the waist in these feels exactly like the waist in the 31x34 Austin.

Austin, 31x34 - Still reading? See above. Great fit, too short in riding position.dislike about it.

Highly protective and stylish, but not very breathable
I did a fair amount of comparison shopping, and a ton of research, trying to find the best riding jean. And I believe it is the Lombard 2, for several reasons.

As far as riding jeans go, this isn't the cheapest option but it isn't wildly expensive. Given how stylish this jeans are, in addition to the protection, I think this is a great value bang for the buck. Without bulky armor inserts, it would be very difficult to tell these were even riding jeans. I went with the Dark Grey, and these look like expensive slimmer fit jeans.

Now in regards to the fit, these are not boot cut jeans. Rather, the leg is tapered. I prefer to ride in higher cut riding shoes (Alpinestars San Diego) so mostly all of the competitors were extremely baggy around the ankle. They all looked like dad jeans. Lombard 2 has a much more modern cut and fit.

As far as breathability goes, I know these advertise the Coolmax usage, but these jeans get pretty hot. Riding its not a problem, but walking around in these makes me want to shed them off. This is because they have great protection polyamide lining but blocks most airflow to that area. Is it going to be better than leather (even perforated)? Yes. But, it won't offer more airflow than mesh/textile pants.

And lastly, protection. As I mentioned, the Lombard 2 uses the perfect amount of inner polyamide lining. This is what will literally save your ass in a long slide. A lot of competitors around this price point or lower will line their jeans with a smaller amount, often small amounts in the front and then cover the rear. Lombard 2 wraps completely around from the crotch up, covering the front, hips and rear. In the rear, it also extends down to about mid thigh. This is the perfect amount in my opinion, as it covers as much as the minimum amount you want without going full lining and reducing all breathability.

If you are considering a riding jean that looks stylish, provides great protection and doesn't break the bank, your best option is the Lombard 2.

Hurry up & buy!
These jeans are amazing! The look, & feel are spot on out the bag. They have some heft to them that inspires confidence in their ability to protect in a slide. I've waited on these jeans for a while, & to be honest, they have exceeded my expectations. I love the way they fit, I like my jeans to fit snug, & tapered, these didn't disappoint. They fit like my favorite pair of Levi's 510s. I added the hip amour, & it just disappears, you can't feel the hip, or knee amour. Everything blends so well, the dark blue looks like a pair of raw selvaged jeans, you can wear them practically anywhere, & not look out of place. All in all, you can't go wrong with these jeans. Rev'it, if you're reading this, you guys knocked it out the park!

Great Motorcycle Jeans
These jeans are absolutely fantastic. I'm 6'3 and weigh 175 pounds, and the 32x34 fits spot on. I like my jeans to have a tapered fit, and these look and feel fantastic. You'd never know they were motorcycle jeans. I highly recommend buying the hip armor inserts as well.

Great riding jeans
These jeans came in on Friday night and I rode 75 miles od back roads in them on Saturday. Really comfortable and really good fit. They feel sturdy and safe but at the same time could pass as a regular pair of jeans. Really happy with these.

Will these fit over a typical riding boot like Alpinestars ? They look tight on those workboots in the video.

BEST ANSWER: I have a pair of Sidi Canyons and a pair of TCX X-Cube EVO Air (these are short boots) - the cuffs barely make it over the Sidis and are a snug fit over the top of the TCXs. The Lombard 2s I have are 32x32
If I want to add armor, should I go up 1 size?
Andres R on Feb 23, 2018

i am asian with short leg , i wear jean with 28" inseam. Would the knee armor fit right on me these jeans with 32 inseam?
A shopper on Dec 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I actually think they would fit you well, might be 1 inch lower than optimal, but I think they'd work. I wear a 32x30 regularly and I have the 32x32 Lombard2 but I feel I should probably be in a 32x34 to get the knee pad in the optimal position for me (or a 32x33 if they made it), they tend to ride up just a little with the knee pad.
I wear a 32X 34 in A straight fit in abercrombie. How will these compare?
A shopper on Jan 18, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I can't answer this in direct comparison to your A&F jeans, but these fit comparably to a Levi's 514 with slightly more taper in the lower leg and a bit more room in the seat

Will this jean shrink in the laundry? If after a wash and dry they shrink, I won't be able to wear the pair that I purchased. They fit just snug now.
