Reda Innovations 1 Gallon Saddlebag Fuel Can

This handy custom shaped gas can is made specifically for a variety of saddlebags to help keep you moving down the road and not stuck on the side of it. The compact size and shape allows you to tuck it out of the way and yet it holds an entire extra gallon of gas- two gallons if you put one in each bag for those extra long trips. It's always better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.

  • Made of 6-ply EVOH plastic creating a vapor proof barrier for no fumes
  • EPA and CARB certified meets 50 States environmental standards

Worked perfectly. This is the improved version.
I just got back from a 6,000 trip. I carried two of these - one in each saddlebag. After reading some complaints on other review sites that they leaked fumes or fuel, I was concerned. It turned out that there was no need for the concern. I think some of the complaints were about the older version with a different spout but I think most of the problems reported were due to the improper use of the cans. Even so, I bought the Zip-Loc bags just in case they leaked fumes or liquid gas. (No need to buy the bags from the manufacturer like I did. They are regular large Zip-Loc bags available at any grocery store.) It turned out that the bags were completely unnecessary as the cans never leaked gas or gas fumes. There wasn't even a hint of leakage. The nozzle valve works perfectly too. I never did need to use the gas in the cans on the trip but it was great comfort just knowing I had spare gas on long, remote roads including "American's Lonliest Road," highway 50 across Nevada. When I got home, I put the gas from the cans in my motorcycle tank and the valve worked so well that not a single drop spilled.

Great product!

Great product for long trips
THis item I'd perfect for long trips. Provides such piece of mind, fits snuggly in the back of my hard bags leaving a large amount of space. The can is like twice the thickness of regular gas cans so should last for many years

Works
It's a gascan. As long as you don't spill gas all over it, it does a pretty decent job keeping the fumes down.

Could be a lifesaver
This gas can fits perfectly in my side bag, having only a 2 gallon tank, I like knowing that I have 1 gallon extra just in case I get carried away.

Some drawbacks - but overall a Great Item
This is designed to fit in the Harley Touring hard bags and I cannot speak to that as I use it in my Heritage Softail as most of you will know the Heritage uses a soft leather bag with a simple plastic place on the bottom. This WILL Fit with some effort but it does kill most of the usable space in the bag. Not a complaint just sharing my first hand knowledge.

Now on to the tank itself - I was disappointed that it DOES NOT hold a full gallon it is close (between .8-.9) and as the pour spout rides in the container you will lose a little from the numbers above.

The good news is that it Does Not Leak, not a drop even if you lay it on its side it is leak proof! very impressed by this as the new gas containers since the vapor law all leak . Understand the filling up using the pour spout is painfully slow in the neighborhood of 3-5 minuets to empty the container but if you are on the road out of fuel would you care about transfer rate? Probably not, this is a really good item to have on a tour bike. Maybe wish they had a different configuration for other popular bag sizes but gotta take what you can get...

No leaks. No fumes
I kept a full gas can in my stock BMW pannier on my Alaska trip. I turned it sideways as it did not match the pannier profile. No matter, it fit perfectly vertically. It has a clever no-spill spout and I never detected any gas fumes when it was closed.

Needed this for an upcoming bike trip from NW Arkansas to Florida, and a sportster does not go many miles on a tank of gas. Call it insurance.

I like this can. It disappears easily into my saddlebag, and sits there quite unintrusivly until needed. I have one recommendation; practice using the can before you get stranded at the side of the road, as though the lid sytem is very secure, it is a bit tricky to handle in the middle of the night if you haven't ever used it before.

Good deal and fitted styling for saddlebags. We live out in the boonies and it is 300 miles to any big city so it is smart to carry spare fuel and be prepared.

Will ventilation be a problem if I do high altitude riding?
Brad W on Jul 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Took two of these to over 9,000 feet at Tioga Pass a couple weeks ago and didn't have any problems. Took them yesterday over Sonora Pass. Never thought to check them though. They are safe in my garage right now. Full and ready for the next ride.
I'm living in a very hot country and the engine gets really hot. Will this be dangerous in the saddlebags? Thanks.
Michael N on Apr 9, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Mike, I live in central Florida. I'm not worried! Every few gas ups I'll cycle this can into my tank and fill the can again. I refuse to run out of gas again.
