Kawasaki Vulcan S Notes
I would have given this 5 stars except for two things. I almost gave it 3 stars but the quality of the bars made me feel bad and go with 4 stars.

First is that there are three bolt points on the guards. However, on the Vulcan S, only two points bolt to the frame. The third top point bolts to the guard on the other side. Maybe it's the bike's fault for not having another point on the frame to bolt to but it left me a bit concerned, but it still probably fine since it feels pretty sturdy. Just don’t know how it will handle a slide or drop. I hope I never have to find out.

Second is ease of installation. If you have the Vulcan S, you can't have the extended reach setting on the pegs and install this guard without some sort of adapter / replacement extender (not included) because the lower point uses one of the pegs bolts if you are in the extended reach position. I had to go back to the neutral position to free up that hole which was a little disappointing since I’m over 6ft tall. The other thing is to be prepared to remove your exhaust because there is no way you could get the nut onto the bolt for the middle bracket without moving the exhaust pipes out of the way since the nut goes on the inside of the frame and is near impossible to get to.

Both issues were admittedly frustrating to figure it out, especially since you only get a one-side-of-the-bike rough diagram with no instructions. I’m pretty handy and do minor car repairs, and it took me about three hours to figure it out and install, especially since I had to move both foot pegs, re-adjust the gear shifter and be careful not to let the right peg hang from the rear break!

If you are not handy, beware.

As my first bike, and one that I plan to lend out now that I have a second bike, I thought that some form of crash protection was a good ideal.
