Light and solidly mouted
I had actually bought a used set of the SWMoto engine guards, but never mounted them because of three critical issues:
1) They were heavy.
2) They mounted far back on the frame, in a place where they would get in the way of my legs.
3) They didn't use the really smartly placed engine-guard mount right behind the side fairing.

The Puigs fix all that, and they are inexpensive.

I have a friend with the expensive touratech bars. The Touratech bars look really nice and they offer a little more protection if riding off-road, because they come up higher over the side fairing. However, if you are on a flat surface such as a road, that's unnecessary. The Touratechs also fail to use the very smartly placed engine-guard mount right behind the side fairing, which means they loose a little bit of strength.

Great Product
Just installed these Puig Engine Guards on my Multistrada. After looking at all of the current options and even ordering the Ducati engine guards at over twice the cost, they sent them for an earlier year. These Puig Guards are extremely well made and they went on in under an hour! After reading the minimal instructions, I was overly cautious, but everything went extremely smooth. All holes lined up perfectly, without any coercion at all. Perfect! Seem very solid, time will ultimatly tell. Laslty, I have ridden this bike with the S&W Motech guards which my knees hit constantly. At 6'2" these guards leave my knees free to grip the tank. Thanks Revzilla!

I have a 2011 Multistrada 1200 and these bars say they will mount up but the top mount point is not on the frame of US bikes. Puig says EU bikes have mount point that is welded right on frame. I used metal hose clamps and rubber covers on frame to mount this point. I can stand on it now with no movement so I believe it will do its job. I think they are the best looking crash bars on the market for this bike cause they do NOT take away from the original lines of the bike as most others do.

Got happy on the gas one day and thought I was going to lay my Duc down with no side protection (I got a little to happy with the throttle while turning and the wheelie results were scary). Got home and promptly checked out Revzilla for protection options. The Puig looked the best, had great reviews, and I've had great results with their other products in the past. These have been installed for a few months now and are awesome. Highly recommend!

What is the weight of these guards?

Thanks!
Erik F on Oct 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I cannot say the precise weight, as they are installed on my Ducati.
But they are light, and when I took them out of the package and noticed this I was pleased about that. Also well constructed, and really just like the Ducati brand ones in their catalog. Easy to install, I also added Puig axle sliders and Grip/signal guards (barkbuster)

I think the bike could survive a moderate drop. The multistrada is a light , high performance bike and its a shame to add a lot of weight and compromise that. The puig guards help keep the bike light and I would recommend them..
