Olympia Women's Airglide 5 Jacket

The Olympia Women's Airglide 5 Jacket is the latest generation of a multi-season touring juggernaut. The ballistic mesh and 500 denier Cordura shell provides industry leading abrasion resistance and a hurricane of airflow when the weather is warm. When the temp drops the Airglide 5's three layer system tailors your comfort to any season or weather condition. The two layer liner offers both a waterproof / breathable barrier against the elements and the Termolite insulated liner keeps you nice and toasty. Olympia has even gone as far as to make the rain layer so versatile that it can be worn over or under the jacket, as well as by itself. The thermal layer can be worn both in the jacket or inside the rain layer, for the ultimate destination liner.

Along with true 3 to 4 season riding comfort, the Olympia Airglide 5 boasts bountiful protection. Removable CE rated Motion Flex armor covers your shoulders, elbows and back. 3M Scotchlite piping wraps around back yoke, arms, shoulders and collar to boost visibility at night and low-viz weather conditions. For riders looking for multi-season comfort and protection, the Olympia Airglide 5 is truly one jacket to rule them all.

Note: The fit profile of the Airglide 5 is ideal for women who need generous space in the bust, shoulder and hips, as well as a shorter waist.

Bulky and restricting
I bought both this and the Olympia Eve Women's Jacket so i'd have a couple options for my first riding jacket. I don't completely hate this jacket but I had to return it. I bought a size L, i'm 5' 4" at 170 lbs. Bust size 42 (36DDD). The jacket fit fine, I could close the zipper - my biggest issue with this jacket was that it made me look like a linebacker at a football game it was so bulky. In addition, my mobility was awful. I ride a 2018 KTM RC390 so I have a pretty aggressive riding position and I could not reach for the handle bars without the sleeves riding up and my shoulders being restricted. I did not feel like i could control the bike. Will be keeping the Olympia Eve jacket. That one is great and better for my wallet!

Very Pleased
Had a chance to wear this jacket during three recent rides. Very pleased with the breathability of the mesh outer jacket on a day in the 70's. Appreciated all three layers with temps in the 60's near sunset. First Gear heated liner fits inside but can't be zipped in.
Exchanged included elbow pads for Rukka d30.
Rukka d30 shoulder pads and back pads are far too large to fit into pockets on jacket in size XS.
CE back armor included is 7" W by 18" H
Rukka size S back armor is 9.5" at the widest point by 20" H.
Pleased with the torso length, wouldn't want it any shorter.
I'm 5' 1",105 lbs, athletic build and riding a '17 Bonneville Bobber.

Warrior Queen!
I love this Jacket, or should I say Jackets! It's very well designed with vestile features all of which consider protection, all seasons riding, comfort and style.

I ride in Western Australia where its mostly hot... I'd peel my leather jacket of at the end of a commute, sticky with sweat, no easy way to wash the sweat away = stink, and having to take it to the dry cleaner to get the lining cleaned = expensive. THIS jacked comes with THREE layers. 1) inside layer which you can actually wear as an elegant light jacket - washable, 2) a fantastic stylish waterproof jacket which I will also use for outdoor hiking, etc, also washable; & 3) the outside jacket seen in these photos, yep, you guessed it, also washable! So Im set of all weather in Oz!

The Fit: I was concerned when I ordered a small, as I'm 'built' in that I have well developed shoulder, delts... In other jackets I've had to get a size or two larger to fit. But not with this beauty! It fits perfectly. Im 5 foot 6 inches, athletic build. So do buy a size down.

Other features are great velcro adjusted to fit the armor at elbows, cool zips for if you have curves, etc... really, this jacket was designed by a dedicated female rider, it must have been!! I love that I actually look like a woman while wearing it, not a teenage boy or an undefined 'blob'! Well done Olympia!

Sweet lines, and joyful rides to you fellow lady riders! :)

Sizing Too Large
I am pretty petite, 34" chest and 30" waist, and I ordered a Small thinking that would give me room to layer under it. The Small was HUGE on me though, I should have gone with the XS, and I think even that would have been too big. The cut was also clearly made for bustier girls, if you're pretty flat-chested like me, the chest/shoulder area might be way too roomy, which unfortunately makes the shoulder armor shift around too much.

The quality of the jacket was fantastic though, nice soft finished edges, armor that covered large areas and the red/black/white color combo looked cool. If the cut/sizing had fit better I definitely would have kept it. I ended up returning and going with a Rev-It brand that had a much slimmer cut.

Amazing jacket! The husband is jealous and wants his own now
This jacket is amazing! It's an incredible for premium quality. I sew so I definitely pay attention to things like construction and stitches. This is very well made. Not a single mismatched seam or skipped stitch.

I currently live in the south in TN/AL area. I'm pretty confident this will be a serious 4-season jacket for this area. With all liners installed it's wicked warm. So maybe until it's 30F or 40F I'll be able to wear this jacket without adding more layers.

With the rain liner out, the airflow is amazing, except the back pad doesn't flow air, so over the spine gets a little bit sticky. The rain liner blocks wind and water exceptionally well, and I am in love with the option to wear the liner inside or outside the jacket. Makes it very convenient. The quilted liner can only be worn when zipped into the wind/water liner. I guess that's okay because more than half the jacket is mesh, so if it's cool enough for a quilted liner, you're probably not looking for tons of airflow over the insulating layer. The liners are easy to remove and re-install.

The jacket fits great. I ordered the Large and it fit perfectly snug with all the liners zipped in and just perfect with all the liners removed. My only note about the jacet fit is that the front waist is a bit on the short side. Definitely not a touring cut. The front is more of a race cut that hits just below my jeans wasitband. The back does have a drop that provides good coverage even when in tuck position.

I did not rate protection and durability, because fortunately, I haven't had to test that feature yet. However, the armour seems good and the textile is Cordura 500D with high reflectivity. The elbow armour provides good coverage down to the mid forearm and the shoulder armour is good too. Also, this jacket includes CE-rated back armour (previously mentioned) where many manufacturers don't provide any back armour. WTG Olympia!

Verdict: This is a great jacket and you should get it!

Love the jacket...Hate the armor
I have an athletic build so my arms are not stick thin, so my choices were limited. I wore this on an 800 mile trip ifrom Texas to Oklahoma in June and was comfortable while moving. The jacket does run big to me but thats a plus for cooler weather. I have not tested yet in the rain but the liner looks like ikeep you dry.

My only complant is the armor included. I just dont believe it will provide the amount of protection I want. I emailed olympia to seenif they recommended higher leverl armor and they dont. He said they stand behind their armor and believe its as good as other armor on the market. Dont want to test them on it but just dont believe it. I have Rukka D30 Armor in my cold weather jacket that fit in the shoulder and elbow pockets. The spine armor would need to be cut diwn to fit so may buy another one and cut to fit his jacket. Overall great jacket, eapecially if you want an adjutable fit.

Versatile and comfortable
Overall, this is a comfortable and incredibly versatile jacket. Since I'm sort of a safety dork, I'd love if the rain layer were light-colored instead of dark (it's dark graphite gray, even in the white/red/black jacket colorway), and it's disappointing that the retroreflective piping is just a few very thin lines. But that same safety dork in me appreciates that in addition to a zipper attachment for riding pants, the jacket also has loops you can attach to your belt to keep the jacket in place during a slide.

I got the medium, since I have a 40" bust measurement and like a close fit. Fit-wise, it's OK. At 5'7" I'm not exactly super tall, but the sleeves feel about an inch on the short side and the body could be a couple inches longer. If I'm not careful about how I close it, the mandarin collar can pull at my throat when I have the back belt loops attached to my mid-rise riding leggings. But other than length, it fits well; if you fall in between sizes and like a close fit, I'd choose the smaller one, and you can use the jacket's various cinches and snaps to let you tweak the fit around your curves.

So far I've taken this from around 50ºF - 85ºF, and felt like I could easily take it several degrees in either direction and stay comfortable. The mesh is really effective in warm weather, and with all the layers in, the jacket is warm and downright plush.

It's practical to use, too. The long tags attached to the zipper pulls mean you can easily open and close the front pockets with gloves on, which is useful if you're prone to forgetting to secure your pockets before you get on the bike. The zippers and loops attaching the layers to each other can take a minute to figure out when you're distracted or tired, leaving you flapping your arms like a bat as you try to make sense of them, but once they're in place they tend to stay put. And I like that you can wear the rain/thermal layers together when you're off the bike — they look like a blandly sporty windbreaker instead of capital-M Motorcycle Gear — since that's one less thing to pack.

Thrilled with Jacket
I am a VERY NEW rider...in fact, I ordered this jacket, pants, gloves and a helmet before I had even been on a bike. I was a couple of weeks from my Basic Rider Course and new that I needed to get good gear. I made the leap of faith that not only would I pass the class to get my license, but that I wouldn't be terrified of bikes and run off screaming.
I am 5'3" and somehow up to 140 lbs. My requirements for jacket and pants were that I get something that would get me through spring/summer/fall as comfortably as possible, and that there be good safety features (armour, sliding protection, decent reflective material and visibility). I was willing to pay a bit more to ideally have something that would keep me fairly cool in hot weather, fairly warm in cold weather, and dry in wet weather.
As many people have stated in the past, Revzilla is amazing in terms of customer service (I called and peppered customer service with questions three times) and speedy deliver (I order the jacket, pants and gloves around noontime on Thursday, FedEx was in my driveway at 9:15am on Friday, and the email telling me the package had shipped came at about 9:30am...15 minutes later. Less than 24 hour shipping! - that that it shipped from Philadelphia and I live in upstate NY).
So - the jacket. I got the white w/ black and red trim, size M. I am broad through the shoulders which means sometimes when I stretch my arms out in front of me, sleeves can run short and the item can be uncomfortable tight across the back. This jacket feels comfortable. There are plenty of adjustments to cinch in the waste and strap down extra material on the arms. I have taken the liner out and move the rainproof liner to the outside. There are lots of pockets hidden here and there. For my cellphone (iPhone 5c in Otterbox case), the cellphone pocket is a bit snug, but I found another inner pocket that holds the phone, a small wallet, chapstick and tissues - the necessities of life! The outside hand pockets are small, but OK for a small wallet, chapstick, tissues...and I think I got the phone in one, too (but not with the other stuff).
I find the collar a bit uncomfortable in the front - sort of too bulk? Or like it pokes in toward my neck...not sure how to describe except to say between the front of the collar and the strap of the helmet there is a lot of stuff in front of my neck! But, having said that, I notice that it hasn't been a bother or distracting when I am riding.
I have ridden in a decent drizzle and in heavy wind...and during the BRC class, we were standing out in high winds and mid-40 temperatures and I was completely comfortable (this is with the rain liner worn on the outside).
I purchased Olympia pants to "match" so that I could zip the jacket and pants together at the small of the back, but I haven't actually done that yet. Although I would say the jacket is on the short side (in other words, it doesn't cover your butt, particularly when you are sitting), I haven't felt that it rode up to expose my back at all.
I think the fit/cut of the jacket is attractive as well as comfortable. I am looking forward to riding in "heat" to see just how well it breathes when it is hot but I have ridden in mid-high-40s with a few thermal layers underneath and been comfortable. No monsoons, but the wind/rain layer has kept my dry and warm in wind and drizzle.
I am thrilled that I seem to have hit the jackpot on my first try. I hate to be hot and I hate to be cold...I think this jacket (and the pants) were great choices. For reference, I bought the Olympia Expedition Women's pants in size 8.

Appears to be an incredible value for the price: Full mesh chassis for the summer, waterproof liner that can be worn outside or inside the jacket (which means the liner can also be worn off-bike!), plus thermal liner for the cooler rides. Also, the Ivory/Black/Red is really sharp looking, though it was a tough call between that and the hi-viz.

Picked this because had so much luck with the 4. The 4 was still in excellent shape, but the handiness of the waterproof liner being on the inside or the outside was a no thinker. Many times on the trip last Summer, we had to stop off on the side of the road and place the liners on on the outside. They are great. The size is true to form, and with all the adjustments it will fit as though it was made just for you. Just wish it was a little longer in the back---may be an 1". I am 5'10" and 160.

I had the Airglide 4 and the bottom zipper would scratch my gas tank (So upset about it). I'm hoping this one does not have a lower zipper.

Fair price, very nice high vis look, great practicality w/ outer rain jacket option, fit true to size- Revzilla says they run about a size large but not such luck with the pants first ordered, and the jacket is just right.

Picked this for a summer & rain jacket in Southern California for my wife. It's nice that the liners zips out and can be layered. Comes with elbow, shoulder, and back armor which costs extra in many jackets.

Hey, just wondering when there will be a video on this jacket? Cheers.

Does this jacket require a back insert protector separately like some of your other jackets Do?
A shopper on Apr 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It comes with the Back Protector in it. I ended up reading from previous posts on the Airglide 4 that some were replacing this with the Rukka D30, and they were more satisfied with it. I ordered these, and they were really comfortable. The air goes through them, just like the jacket. They are more substantial than the ones that came with the jackets, but the Olympia protectors don't have the holes in them for the "breeze" to go through. I ended up changing out all the protectors to the Rukka brand, except for the hips---they just didn't fit. LOVE the jackets, and love the protectors too. Hope this helps.
What size is the inside pocket and is there a pocket on the rain jacket?
A shopper on May 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The outside jacket pockets are normal sized pockets, compared to my other jackets. The dimensions for the outside pockets are 6" zipper, pocket is 4" x 6". The inside pocket is located on the left side, upper chest area. That pocket has a 6" vertical zipper and the pocket area measures 5" x 8". The rain jacket has two vertical zip close pockets with 5" zippers. The rain jacket pockets are 4" x 6" and each layer has a cell phone pocket . Hope this helps!
Can the thermal liner be worn alone, or does it need to be zipped into the rain liner or jacket? It would be nice to wear it on its own at rallies when chilly.

BEST ANSWER: It has to be zipped into either the jacket or the rain liner. It works pretty well as a destination jacket when zipped into the rain liner. Be aware that the rain liner will have a large high-viz yellow stripe down both arms if you get the high viz version.
The ability to wear the thermal and rain liner together as a destination jacket was one of the biggest reasons my wife and I bought these jackets. We ride two up and camp, so space is at a significant premium when we travel.
How long is this jacket? What is the length dimension?
A shopper on Jul 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I purchased a Large. On the back, from the bottom of the collar to the tail of the jacket measures 26 inches. Measured the same way in front 20 1/2 inches.
