Mustang One-Piece Summit Seat For Harley Touring

Both you and your passenger will experience the peak of comfort with the Summit Super Touring seat, designed for the 2014-Up Rushmore line. The one-piece super comfortable touring design provides the rider and passenger with the fullest, most comfortable seat possible. The 19" wide Super front bucket sits the driver 1.75" further back than the stock seat. The passenger seat is a full 16" wide and fits perfectly with the Rushmore speakers and Tour-Pak. Seat will fit with or without a handrail. Will not work with Harley Davidson driver backrest kits or Mustang driver backrests for Pre-2014 models. Receiver for the optional Mustang Driver Backrest is built right into the seat.

Features:

  • 19" front width x 16" rear width
  • Made in the USA

Note: Does not include backrest.

Doesnt move you back at all on a Street Glide S 2016
The seat is very nice looking, but overall a little disappointed. I want to move back a couple of inches. but after mounting and testing, I found it 16 inches just like my stock seat.
Looks are 100% fits nicely around the bag latches and just a great looking seat.
Comfort 80% I ride couple of hundred miles on weekends, started out ok, but I am back to my gel pad.
Got what I wanted 0%, did not move me back at all..
If you don't want to move back and want a great looking seat for the Street glide this is it.

For those days when you just don't want to stop.
I spend more time in the saddle than anyone I know with over 22,000 miles in the last 6 months, so I think I can offer up a decent review.

Bang for the buck: dropping this kind of coin on something that's vinyl covered is not optimal. If it were covered in some exotic animal hide, I'd understand the cost over 6 C-notes for the saddle and proprietary backrest. It's a tad spendy IMO. Just about all manufacturers are charging the same ballpark figure though, but it doesn't mean I have to like it.

Features/Comfort: It's wide, providing plenty of room stretch out on for those 500 mile days. It is more than a little hard the first few thousand miles, but you adjust or it loses some of it's stiffness. Either way, it doesn't feel like riding on a board anymore.

Your Pillion rider will love you long time after spending time on this one. It is also wider and provides more cushion against impacts on delicate parts. My wife loves it.

For the taller riders (whom I imagine this seat is aimed at), While you DO get moved back a bit, you also get moved UP. Good for your legs to not be bent up so much, but not so good for your brain carrier. Prepare to possibly also go buy another windshield/screen if over 6'3". The windshield on my '15 FLHR now stops about 2" under my chin. The head buffeting is positively BRUTAL at highway speed. An hour of having my brains shaken like a can of paint getting mixed at Lowes isn't fun. Consider it a possible unintended consequence and plan appropriately.

Style: Good lines, nothing special covering it though. Nothing exceptional here.

Installation: It's a Harley seat. If it takes you more than 30 seconds to install, you're doing it wrong. See Lemmy's most excellent video here if you don't know how to swap one out.

Fit and finish is tight and this is where you definitely get your money's worth. No loose seams or stitching, and everything was perfectly assembled.

Durability: I can't rate it fully with a clear conscience for another 6 months. It's held up perfectly so far, but I'd like to see how it stands up to a year of Florida sun day after day.

Those are my thoughts as a rider for the Mustang Summit Tour seat.

Sensitive Things On The Tank? Here's A Cure.
Being 6'3" and finding myself now financially and emotionally attached to a 2015 Road King FLHR, I was in trouble.

The stock seat is great if you're under 5'10". I was actually riding on the back slope of it, almost on the passenger pillion. 300 mile days on THAT was misery. Alternatively, sitting in the stock saddle fully had my man parts on the tank. No bueno.

Installation: Swapping an HD seat is a 10 second feat, no biggie.

Price: This is the biggest sore spot with me on this seat , is that it's vinyl and not leather. The optional backrest is priced high as well in my opinion, and also plastic/vinyl covered. It is solidly constructed mind you and I think it merits a more valuable covering material.

Comfort: As far as comfort, I've racked on 11,000 miles since January. That's a lot of saddle time in 3 months. I think I can offer up a valid opinion at this point.

This seat is HARD. There's not much give to it. This is offset by it's generous width and length and the fact that I am now able to sit fully in the saddle with good lower back support. This is important if you find yourself cornering at peg scraping speed. Being able to lock into the bike is important.

As far as height, it is noticeably taller than the stock saddle, and I can flat foot the bike with ease. My 5'10" mechanic? Not so much.

The issue with the height increase is pretty brutal head buffeting since the windshield sits at about throat height and throws everything right in my face. I'll have to order a taller windshield to deflect some of the air now.

As far as the pillion...the wife loves it, as it is wider as well, allowing her to sit more comfortably. Married fellas: this is important. The width DOES make dropping on the quick detach sissy bar a bit problematic if you normally leave it removed like I do, but sufficient muscle and leverage will get it locked in just fine. A separate review for the backrest is forthcoming.

All in all, it was a great investment, and Revzilla did a phenomenal packing and shipping job as well. I genuinely LIKE spending my money here.

If you're on the fence still about dropping this kind of coin on a seat for more legroom , I say go for it. You won't regret it.

Summit seat
Seat was delivered exactly when Revzilla said. Received it
Tuesday, installed Wednesday, left for a New England trip on
Thursday. The Mustang seat is 100 times better than the stock seat. I didn't notice the seating position changing. Maybe because I always had to use a Airhawk pad on the stock seat to be able to ride. Pressure on the crotch area
was not completely relieved by the Summit seat but it was much, much better. I was able to withstand 8 to 12 hour riding days with no pad on the seat. There were only 2 areas where I was disappointed. The height adjustment on the backrest was not usable at all. To raise it up, you had to keep pressure on it to keep it from falling back down. That's just not very good. Also after riding in the
rain it seemed to take a day of two for the seat to dry out.
Maybe the foam absorbed water through the stitching then squeezed out, I don't know. Overall, after 4600 miles
in 13 days, I was pleased with the seat. I couldn't see any
wear and tear on the seat after the trip and am certainly
glad I spent the money.

Looks killer on my FLHR!
Raised my butt and center of gravity noticeably. Wider leg stance but can still flatfoot. No longer smashing the goods on the tank. I am 6' & 190 lb. Will require normal tweaking of highway pegs and handlebars for new position. Guaranteed, I'll break in before the seat breaks in. Seat is firm but supportive. Looks killer on my FHLR!

I've owned a Mustang seat before and have been very happy. There exists a number of options for seating, but it is easiest to purchase something you've had good experience with in the past. I was curious about the Saddlemen LS Road Sofa, but had concerns about the Saddle Gel. Corbin has a great product, but again, I'm going with what I know.
