11,000 on the rear
Just hit 15000 miles on my FZ-09. Put the PR4's on my bike not long after I got it 2 years ago (stock rear started squaring off around 4000 miles). I still had just shy of a mm until the center tread would be worn to the wear bars. Compared to some other reports I think it's fair to say that 11,000 miles is pretty good for a bike tire! *Keep in mind I don't do burnouts or wheelie's or any sort of stunting and my style is more slow-in-fast-out than trail-brake-and-back-it-in.

I was worried the torquey character of the FZ-09 would mean I'd be shelling out for new tires all the time. The PR4's seem to be up to the challenge. I commute on my bike 5 days a week here in California. So the center tread is worn more than the sides. I also take it out for quick blasts now and then around the mountains here and I've never lost confidence in the tire--no (unintentional) slips.

To those reporting slides (esp the cb500f rider that says these tires slip at any lean angle) I'd first recommend to get your suspension and riding style sorted before you blame the tire. The PR4's are a solid buy for the street/sport rider.

Outstanding all-around tire!
I installed these tires (front & rear) on a 1998 Honda VFR 800 Interceptor. I use it for daily commuting as well as spirited back road twisties and weekend fun rides. I can't yet comment on their treadwear, but Michelin states it is 20% improved over the PR3s, which had exceptional tread life.

I've ridden a few hundred miles on the PR4s so far on various tarmac services. They have been outstanding in both wet and dry conditions. Turn-in is crisp, they don't wander over changing surfaces, and grip was excellent from day one.

One of the advantages touted in their improvements over the previous models was better ability to handle road paint, tar snakes, etc., and I can report this is true. I've ridden some fairly hairy back roads and these tires have given me NO REASON not to trust them implicitly.

Top Flight
I have had the time to put these tires through trials most people wouldn't, and they just don't give up!

I ride with riders that push thier bikes to the extreme, and do it often. We get out in the back roads, miles from towns and traffic and let loose a little. These Road 4s have a quick warm up, good feel and incredible bite on the road in any but the most challenging conditions.

I ride a Dicati Monster 1200, and these tires are a great match for the performance of this machine. They have excellent milage in them, and will drag pegs with the best of DOT track tires. Buy these, and as always,

Enjoy the Ride Amigo...

Commute, Canyon & RaceTrack no problem!
I was looking for a commuter tire that I could shoot the occasional canyon and get overall good life out of. Only a couple thousand plus miles on these so maybe a little new for a review. Just did a track day in the ran on them so thought I would write a review.
Did a day at the Streets of Willowsprings on this rubber with standing water on track and constant rain. All I can say is the tires way out performed my level of fear. As hard as I was willing to push them they never slipped or scared me and I'm on a liter bike.
Get these tires you will like them. They just make perfect since for a sportbike rider that spends time upright during the week and leaning only on the weekends. Ride on!

Only tires i'll run on my bikes
currently have these on Three 2002 BMW K1200RS', a 2008 BMW K1200S and a 2012 BMW K1300S. The tread life on these causes arguments with people riding other brands. I average 10,000 + miles on these tires. The are AMAZING in the wet and even better in the dry. I bout my 2012 with a set of dunlops on them and I've never ordered new tires so fast. These tires give so much feed back you almost lose all confidence when riding on other tires. If you are thinking about these tires just go ahead and order them, you can thank me later.

Incredible tires
I have had these on my street triple for 90 days and right at 8000 miles. They replaced my worn out Diablo corsas. Here is my verdict:
1. These stick to varied road conditions like stink on a garbage pile. Super high heat stick and excellent wet weather traction Like all tires they don't do well with the tar road snakes.
2. Great mileage wear. I didn't expect to get this many miles and they are just now beginning to square off. I haven't noticed the square when I tip in for twisties but I may get another 3000 miles out of this tire.
3 Temperature ranges I used these in was from 111 degrees down to freezing. Never felt loose except after about 2 hours of serious canyon carving.
4. Price. Essentially I got the front and rear for the price of 1 tire thru Revzilla. Thanks!

FANTASTIC Tires
Chose these as replacements for my BMW F800GT's OEM Continental RA 2's after getting a recommendation from a far better rider than myself. LOVE these tires! Fantastic from the moment I drove them off the lot. Grip is outstanding, FAR superior to the original tires. Fantastic feel on the highway and riding the twisties up and down Angeles Crest Highway. Not the cheapest tire, but well worth the extra $ in my opinion just for the rock solid sure-footedness. Only 800+ Miles in so I can't really speak to tread life but no noticeable wear on them at all. One grain of salt, I am not a fast rider so if you are someone that is really going to push it my review should not be part of your decision process. But if like me you fall into a commuter, weekend canyon and occasional "C" group track rider I would put these tires on the bike when it's time for fresh rubber.

Great tire
I got a nail in my stock Dunlop tire so I read up some reviews on what the best tire for my 2014 Yamaha FZ09 was. I ordered this tire and was absolutely blown away. It is a night and day difference and I have so much more confidence while riding through curves. I would recommend this tire to anyone, it is great.

Great grip and handling!
I can't speak to tread life yet as I've only got 500 miles on them, but the handling is fantastic once they get warmed up. I don't fear going into corners anymore. It's so easy to roll her over now, smooth as butter. I'd definitely buy these again. You don't lose any handling with these vs. the Sports...definitely go with these.

So Far So Good
I live in the mid west where the weather is always changing, and the roads are usually straight. I have only have these tires on my FZ6 since April 2015, but so far I love them. I always have confidence knowing they will preform well in the rain or dry, and if I find some twisties, they are also going to hold grip. If you don't live in the place where you are canyon carving every weekend, or going to the track, the PR4s are hands down the best tires for street application.

At the time I wanted mileage and I achieved it. Decent grip in the corners which was nice, these operated great in the rain. I got 13,000 miles out of the set before the rear started to go, I swapped out both even though the front still had a few thousand more miles of life left. Very impressed! Fitted on a 08 CBR600RR

Converting my dedicated Aprilia track bike over to do some street duty so I can get more enjoyment out of it and save on gas. Have slicks for track days, but looking to get a street tire for commuting around and day trips down to Phoenix from Flagstaff. Would you recommend the Road 4 or 3 for my sportbike considering that the 3 has medium/soft vs the hard/medium of the 4? Maybe run a 4 up front and 3 in rear or would I be better off with a pair of Pilot Power 2ct since there are some fun curvy roads around here? Thanks, and keep up the reviews they really help!
A shopper on Jan 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Definitely the Road4's. The hard compound middle is the key to avoiding flat spotting with daily road riding. You'll still be able to get aggressive in corners. I only got about 4500 miles out of my pilot power 2ct's due to excessive flat spotting in the middle, the edges are still good.
What should one expect when operating these tires over the cited 113°F? Would it merely reduce life? Would it hinder performance, specifically by loss of traction? Would degradation be predictable? Would it fail catastrophically? This is relevant, as Southern Arizona sees 110°F most every year.
A shopper on Sep 23, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Ha! But on the bright side, one can ride all year with a little planning or perseverence.
I'm struggling to find information on how tires start to fail at high ambient temp; this multiple-hardness-composite-materials thing for this tire in particular that has me worried.
I might just try this tire and hope for the best, but am hopeful for information on this problem first.
My motorcycle (Honda NC700X) is not a “sport touring” motorcycle. It is an “adventure” motorcycle that I use 90% of the time for commuting. The mixed road/dirt tires that came on my machine are spent at 3K Mi and completely flat in the middle. I need tires that are hard in the middle because my 30 min commute consist of a mostly straight line. Are these the tires for me?
Justin E on Mar 22, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these are perfect tires for you. I went 12000 km last season on my Versys; mostly in a straight line during my 120 km round trip commute. The tires only showed minimal wear at the end of the season. Great for wet or dry roads in all temps ( I ride down to 3 degrees with no upper limit) but I recommend staying on the pavement, as these are definately not off-road tires.
I just got an 06' GSXR 750. I am a year round rider in the Portland, OR area.
There is a ton of rain here and was wondering if I should go with the Pilot Road 3 or 4, and since I am looking for a new tire, should I go with a 190/55 while I am at it? Or just stick with the stock size?

Thanks,
Brad
A shopper on Oct 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Hi Brad I have two parts to this answer 1) I am a firm believer that the manufacturer has spent a fair amount of a gazillion dollars on R&D on your GSXR and think that if the design and suspension called for a larger tire to maximize handling... they would have done so! 2) as for the Mich. product I would go for the PR 4 I think they have worked the bugs out of the last design. I have run both on my FJR 1300 and am very happy with the 4 the traction with the 4 is MUCH improved. The 3 I ran had surprisingly had started to cup on me (partly my fault due to lack of PSI) Now run 42 F&R the wet traction is great (my opinion) but any wet traction claims are a personal confidence level more than anything (jus my 2 cents) I don't think you will be disappointed with the PR 4s and get some extra miles too!
I am torn between a set of these and a set of pilot power 3s for a 2009 R6 street only. Will these hold grip for the full lean angle on dry pavement?
Matthew C. B on Nov 30, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Hey Matthew, I've had the Pilot Road 4s and have about 9,000 miles on it. No joke. They handle well, but definitely will not have the same lean grip as the Pilot Powers. I have a Ducati 848 SF, and my buddy rides an R6 with the Pilot Powers and he seems to be able to get on the power earlier towards the end of the turn coming out of full lean. If money isn't a problem and you don't mind replacing tires more often then I would go for the Pilot Powers. Another option might be the Angel GTs, which are fare better than the Angel ST they replace. My friend on an 899 has the Angel GTs and swears by them. Good luck, man.
noob question, but when purchasing tires on sites like this, how do you guys go about getting them mounted? i ran the idea of buying here and having my local shop mount them for me and they weren't too happy about it.
A shopper on Nov 3, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I take it to my dealer. It's non of their business where I get my tires haha
My old rear tire is a 170/60 r17. Since they dont have that size I was wondering what size you would recommend getting?
zack f on Jul 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: A better question is what sizes are compatible with your bike's rear rim. I know my bike can take a 180 or a 190, I stick with 180 because that is what came on it and best fits my riding style.
How do I read the wear indicators on my Pilot Road 4 tires?
A shopper on Jan 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Spaced at regular intervals are "wear bars" in the groove of the treads. If the outer surface of your tire (anywhere on the tire) is down to the level of the wear bars, then your tire is done. You should look to replace it as soon as possible.
the product detail talks about a GT version, but I do not see that offered. Is that something that will be offered in the future?
NYr1200RT on Jan 13, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The GT version is on their site and if you buy both tires its only a 10 dollar difference between the regular ones.
I have a 14 BMW S1000R and I commute everyday and I live near Chicago. I ride from March to December and I'm looking for a tire for cold, wet, dry and hot weather with long tire wear. Is this a good tire for a 160hp bike? No track days.
A shopper on Feb 20, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I installed these tires on my Yamaha FZ6R in June 2014 & have only ridden in dry conditions so I don't know what they are like in wet weather. We had a cool summer here in Michigan so all I can tell you is this, after I installed these tires there was a 100% improvement in the handling of my bike & I would definitely buy these tires again. If they can improve the handling on my beginner bike that much I can't imagine how much they will improve the performance on your BMW. As for long tire wear I only put on 1600 miles on my bike last summer & I don't see any wear at all yet. As far as I can see these are great tires & should serve well in all conditions.
