What's this?

LS2 Metro V3 Helmet

The LS2 Metro V3 Modular Helmet starts with a lightweight, aerodynamic shell and 3 shell sizes to allow for a perfect fit with the smallest shell possible. A full metal latch assures the chin bar will stay locked when closed and a solid detent at the top so it won’t drop unexpectedly. An additional locking switch allowing the chin bar to lock in the open position. The Metro V3 is dual homologated as both a full face and an open face helmet. The chin bar has large, adjustable intake ports, giving the rider ventilation similar to an MX helmet for those tours through the heat. A removable visor makes the Metro V3 the ultimate ADV helmet. The peak adjusts upward as the chin bar is raised.

The face shield on the Metro V3 is optically correct with LS2’s FogFighter fog-resistant coating for the maximum in fog protection. The face shield is scratch- and UC-resistant and can be changes quickly and easily with the tool-less quick-change system. The Metro V3 uses the Twin Shield System drop down inner sun shield which is cable-operated via a smooth switch and is easy to use even with a gloved hand. The removable, washable comfort padding uses breathable technical fabric and is easy to keep as fresh as new. Cheek pads use ultra-high quality foam that is cut to shape using LS2’s 3D laser technology for all day comfort and no hot spots. Fully adjustable, flow through ventilation keeps you cool and more in control when the weather gets rough. A DOT approved quick release chinstrap makes it a breeze to get the helmet off and on your head.

Features:

  • Ultra light, strong yet flexible shell using LS2’s proprietary Kinetic Polymer Alloy (KPA)
  • Adjustable, closable chin ports allow MX-style ventilation for the long hot rides
  • Twin Shield System drop down internal sun shield is operated by a cable slider for smooth and dependable sun protection
  • Secure full metal latch and quick-release chin strap is easy to open with a gloved hand
  • Removable sun visor peak makes for the ultimate ADV style modular
  • Homologated as both a full face and an open face helmet
  • DOT

Note: Helmet does not have Pinlock pins in the face shield.

Pleasantly Surprised
I'll keep it short. I have crammed about 1000 miles on this helmet, below are my thoughts.

Pros:
*Air Flow is decent(I know the EPS isnt carved, but the headliner manages to create well flowing channels and I can feel the wind easily while touring [upright seating position])
*Hard to Fog
*Easy to find Vents with good Actuation
*Visor has several Positions
*Sun Visor goes well past "low enough"
*Looks (subjective of course)
*Ratchet Mechanism is amazing to use with/out gloves

Cons
*Squeaky/Noisy Sunpeak (took it off after my first ride)
*Plugs/Covers for visor Mechanism Bolts are lose and can create noise at speed
*Speaker cutouts are not deep enough (sena 20s regular size speakers would press a bit against my ears, I added some depth to the cutouts and have had no problems since)
*The neck liner style is a bit iffy when using clamp mounted Com-Units
*Removing the Visor for thorough cleaning could be simpler
*The Removable Chin Curtain on this revision is cancer.

Final Thoughts, I'm pleased with it, I have about 9 helmets and this is my tool of choice for the long hauls, has the style I like and the functionality I need. would like a carved EPS next time from LS2 (I know some of their other helmets have them)

Great helmet, great value!
Great helmet with plenty of ventilation. The no-fog features work great. Plenty of room in the helmet for my bluetooth headset. Clear visor and drop down smoked visor are great. I highly recommend this product. It's very comfortable and a great value and good feature set.

2,000 miles and Still Happy
As soon as I got it, I was getting compliments on its looks. It’s snug but comfortable after a short break in period. It’s still comfortable now and I ride it about 30-40 miles every day. The visor fogged on me once on a cold day, went away quickly. Air flow is great. It hasn’t made me sweaty yet and I ride it in Florida every day. Sure, the specs make it heavier than other helmets, but the helmet is not heavy and I won’t hurt your neck unless you’re the one lacking. The drop down visor is absolutely perfect—removes glare and dims the sun without removing contrast. I can also slip on my Oakleys with the modular face open. The ratchet strap is great, but I feel like it could be redesigned to fit under the chin even better. The matte finish is holding up great and it looks even better with some of my custom scuffs on it. As far as wind noise, it’s not as bad as some reviewers seem to be dogging it for and this past spring has been particularly windy. Yes, there’s wind noise, but you guys realize you’re riding an open air vehicle on two wheels, right? I embrace the non-comforts of moto. If Mild uncomfortabilities set you off to write an angry review, then you shouldn’t be riding a ****** bike. The actuators I was a little frustrated with at first because I had to remember what switch positions meant closed/open. I got that on lock now and figured out that the two front vent actuators are awesomely designed so you can close or open both at the same time with one hand. But, in early spring, I had to ride in some 40 degree mornings...my face was cold as the helmet provides a lot of facial air flow. I’m sure the chin curtain would’ve helped but I never put that in. The liner also hasn’t disappointed me. It hasn’t made me uncomfortable yet and it hasn’t absorbed oil, sweat, or sunscreen (I work on the beaches everyday and put the helmet on over sweat, sand, and sunscreen). Bottom line, great helmet, full of features, perfect warm weather helmet for air flow, and it looks pretty sweet. I would buy the next evolution of it, as I hope they do make one.

Lot's of features, but no support from LS2
I was really looking forward to using all of the features of this new design. I was expecting a nice fit, like my LS2 strobe, the metro fits large, and too low on the neck.
It had a smooth as silk operation, on the chinbar, shield, peak, and sunvisor.
That is until about 300mi. into my 2nd ride, the attaching hardware came out, and the chinbar, shield, and peak are flapping in the wind.
Fast forward to LS2 website, what a joke, can't email them, their is some sort of error in their address, call them and leave mess. they never get back to you.
click on the button for the helmet manual, it takes you to the catalog, there 404 mess. on a few of the selections.
And no where on the site can you find a parts list or spare parts for the Metro V3 helmet. And when you go to register your helmet for warranty, the form does not work!!!! Argh!
So yes I have a helmet shaped paper weight, at the moment, hopefully the good people at Zilla can help me out with this, I have faith in them, but not LS2.
I notice that my experience is very similar to some other reviews that Ive read.

Just not right for me
Sorry in advance for the length of this review, but I wanted to give as much detail as possible. I bought this helmet to replace a Bell Qualifier DLX, which I really like, but the LS2 Metro had some features I was especially interested in. Most notably, I was hoping the modular design would make it easier to wear my regular glasses underneath (LS2 was the only brand in my price range whose reviews even discussed the ability to do this).

Right out of the box, however, I had concerns about this lid. First, there was no instruction manual included, but there was a QR code to scan to download it. Unfortunately, the scan produced a “404-page not found” error and when I went to the web site on my computer, the link for the manual download only gave me their product catalog (which is what it did for every helmet on the page).

Second, I wanted to remove the peak that it came with so I found a video online and gave it a shot. The first side went fine, but when I got to the second side, the whole attachment popped out and there was a huge gloppy mess of grease/lubricant for the mechanism which got everywhere while putting it back together. This is where I also found that the removal/replacement of the screen is extremely difficult (at least compared to the Bell whose mechanism is the easiest I’ve ever seen).

The next issue I had was with the vent levers. They were extremely small and stiff, particularly on the top vents. This made it difficult to open and close even with light gloves, and with my heavy winter gloves they were downright hard to operate. Maybe this would become easier over time.

As for fitment, my issues may just be related to the shape of my head. With that said, the cheek pads were comfortably snug, but the top of my head seemed a bit loose and wobbly (again, compared to the wholly secure feeling of the Bell). Regarding the chin bar, when locked into place it seemed very tight and secure. The problem was getting it to lock down; I needed one hand to hold the back of the helmet while the other pushed it into place. I don’t know if this is a normal function of modular helmets, but it seemed cumbersome. Lastly, when closed, there was only about an 1/8” of clearance between my chin and the chin bar.

My final 2 issues were with the drop-down sun screen and the neck roll. The mechanism for lowering and raising the screen worked smoothly, but I would have liked if it locked more securely in the up position. As for the neck roll, it seemed to roll up too much when putting the helmet on and I had to pull it back down to situate it properly.

There were a few things I liked about the helmet: 1) I was able to get it on and off with my glasses on (but don’t know if this was a result of the overly large crown area), 2) the main screen locked securely into place and seemed create a very nice seal, 3) it was pretty light overall, but seemed a bit top-heavy, 4) vision was pretty clear and wide, and 5) the chin curtain was very soft and comfortable. I have a strong suspicion that this helmet would be much quieter than the Bell

Unfortunately, these were not enough for me to keep the helmet. As a result, I cannot speak to its air flow (although I’m confident it would be more than adequate), or its quietness on the road. Perhaps, if you have the right size head, this helmet would be a good option for you; it just wasn’t for me.

One last thing… kudos to Revzilla for making the purchase, AND RETURN process so easy. Love dealing with these guys!

I don't recommend this helmet
I have been looking for a long oval modular helmet for my wife for ever since she started riding with me about four years ago. Even though Revzilla states it's an intermediate oval, LS2 claim on their website that it is a long oval. But that's not why I writing.

To be blunt: The helmet liner bleeds on her face. She has back marks on her forhead and cheeks everytime she wears it. I wiped them down once, but that didn't help at all. The face shield will NOT stay up. I've had to insert some clear plastic tubing under both sides to get it to stay up. Very flmsey.

I do not like where they put the inner shield lever. Other manufacturers put it here too, but it's a terrible place, if you want to mound a bluetooth intercomm. When I try to look at the owner's manual online (the only way to see it), I always get an error like the site/page is down.

I have contacted LS2 two times via their contact method on their website. They have never replied to my concerns.

Honestly, if your'e looking for a modular adventure style helmet in a smilar price range, I'd opt for the Scorpion RT950 overall a much better helmet for the money. I've had mine for over a year and have logged lots of hours in it. It's not real plush, but I feel that I got my money's worth. The visor vibrates pretty bad, so be aware of that.

Is the fit really long oval? The previous version was not.
Dewayne P on Oct 29, 2017
BEST ANSWER: The previous version was a long oval, it is clearly listed on the LS2 website. I will say this, I have a more intermediate head size and normally wear a XL for most brands, for the LS2 Metro helmet I went to a 2XL and I am planning to do the same with this one.
It says there are three shell sizes. What are they please?

Can the sun peak visor be adjusted like lower or higher onto the helmet?
David S on Feb 20, 2018
BEST ANSWER: no, tho the angle is decent the peak is fixed and it moves when you open up the modular and the shield its flush when its also open
Does this helmet have a PInlock ready shield? There are clearly Pinlock mounts in the photos, but none in the video.
eric e on Dec 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Mine arrived without a pinlock/fogfighter shield out of the box, but I havent needed it so far after 1k+ miles of use between 38-100 degree temps.
When will this item be released?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I called LS2 yesterday and was told January, no exact date but apparently they are still in the production stage.
Will there ever be any color variation of this helmet?
Charles H on Nov 7, 2017
BEST ANSWER: TL;DR Yes: the same colors as before. I cant post the link but it is called the LS2 Metro EVO, a simple Google search with the correct name will show you the correct info page.
If I buy a medium size and also a large size interiors. Can I chance between M and L interiors?
