Reviews & Questions
So this chain is a pretty big "deterrent" but that's for normal thieves that haven't exactly targeted your bike.
Unfortunately my bike was targeted and they knew to bring a grinder for the attack.
What I will say is that the thieves had a decent go at bashing the padlock with a crowbar and that did its job, the lock didn't break open. Unfortunately this meant they just resorted to their grinder they bought with them.
Within 2-5 minutes they had the chain but (2 cuts on each side of a chain link) and they were off with the bike.
Not much you can do if thieves use a grinder, I can’t wait for the day someone invents something that is grinder proof.
(Pictures attached and link to CCTV footage)
Padlock = Very good, didn’t break against a crowbar attack.
Chain = It did all it could but was cut within 2-5 minutes with a grinder.
What I would change:
Next time I will be using a massive Almax 19mm chain through the front wheel, an ABUS disc lock on the back wheel and I’m also going to get a Scorpio SR-I900 alarm system…
*I do recommend this product BUT if you're in a communal parking situation like mine you need to have other deterrents.
Anyway this 3ft chain is a little bit short...so don't expect to tie it around a fat tree or something like that...but the only reason I got the 3ft one is because it is lighter than the 5ft one and it is still freakin heavy! I can only imagine how the 5ft one feels, riding around with that thing is going to be rough...
So basically really happy with the chain, the only thing is it could be lighter. But if you got saddle bags or somewhere to put the chain on your bike so you don't have to carry it in your backpack, then I would go for the 5ft one...
The only way this chain can be cut is with a grinder for like a minute straight, so don't tie it to some pole in some alley way where the thieves can grind away without being noticed....lol
But overall, its a solid chain!

I park my Triumph in my backyard on a slightly raised concrete platform - unfortunately, I don't have any anchor points or solid objects I can attach locks to. I thought a chain would be a step in the right direction as I could at least loop it through the area between the filter and the engine.
I chose the Kryptonite New York Fahgettaboudit Lock for three reasons:
1) Solid reputation when it comes to security, plus backup warranty
2) Good price
3) Ability to use the disc lock separately
Whilst no lock is foolproof, Kryptonite have a very good reputation and when I received the lock with 5" chain I was very impressed. It's noticeably heavy, and the links are brutally big, akin to something The Rock was trying to pull in Hercules. It's definitely a chain you'd need to take a grinder to. The disc look is pretty compact and slides easily through the front wheel. I agree though with the rest of the reviewers that the chain could have been another foot longer and the protective sleeve extended to cover all the links.
Like a lot of reviewers have mentioned, unless you sleep and work on your bike, if someone wants it bad enough, they'll nick it. However the lock feels very secure and the links provide a great visual deterrent to anyone up for mischief.
I also have a disc lock for my bike, better safe than sorry.
The lock is pretty tight to the chain - I can barely get the U around a small frame bar and still fit in the links. It is a trick with gloves on.
There's not much to my bike, and the chain is thick, so I can't really run the chain around anything where it won't rest on the hot exhaust. I wish the U were 1/4" longer, ot the chain a few inches longer, but I guess they are tight so the chain doesn't rest on the ground, and nobody can get a prybar into the U.
