Givi XS307 Xstream Tanklock Tank Bag

The Givi TankLock system for tank bags promotes the elimination of all kinds of straps, or magnetic limpets, previously used to fasten the bag to the bike. Thanks to a small ring that is installed on the tank cap, incorporated with the unique structure of the base of the bag, the bag can now be attached by simply aligning it to the ring and pressing lightly until you hear the classic "click."

Equally easy is the removal of the bag; to release it you can just pull the red lever located in the base. The mounting rings are sold separately and vary by the fuel cap type, and you need to check the compatibility list to verify which ring is for use with your model of motorcycle.

Great addition to my '16 BMW R1200RTW
My 2009 RT had the (expensive!) OEM rack mounted tank bag. The quick detach, no straps, doesn't touch the paint feature was one that I liked and wanted to have on the new motorcycle but BMW dropped the concept on the water cooled RT's. This Givi XS307 system looked like a possible solution, one that would get me close to a usable quick release tank bag. The Revzilla video review further influenced my purchase decision.

After 2500 miles it's worked as advertised! The release lever is in a natural position on the right side of the bag and can be operated by feel. The bag mates to the lock ring with a reassuring "click". It holds all of the stuff that I carried in the old BMW bag. I used the included yellow rain cover in a frog strangler of a storm and it worked perfectly. I like the removable map case, obvious good build quality. The mounting ring on the bottom of the bag is adjustable by 2 inches or so making it possible to customize the fore/aft position on your bike. All of this at less than half the cost of an OEM bag...and no paint burnishing.

Great addition to my Suzuki DL650
Purchased the Givi XS307 and the matching tank ring for my Suzuki DL650A VStrom. The bag is just the right size, and does not interfere with seeing the gauges on my bike.

The tank ring took a few minutes to install, and does not stick up very far. No problem refueling the tank with the ring installed.

The bag is the perfect size for storing items for quick access. Even fully loaded, the bag does not touch the tank. I like the tank ring mount, as it will not scratch my bike, and I won't have to be concerned about magnets erasing my credit cards if stored in the bag. No need to dismount the bike to get to items in the bag.

Thumbs up!

Great everyday bag
This is a great everyday bag, a purse, if you will, for all the things you absolutely have to take along on every outing: sunglasses, water bottle, phone, wallet, visor cleaner, tire pressure gauge, etc.

There are a couple of things I might change; the second clear-window tablet pouch seems superfluous, a single, larger map pocket that would fit a paper map or a tablet would be sufficient, but I don't see the need for two map pockets. And the safety strap, while a good idea, could be designed and engineered a little better. Rather than having a sewn on strap, I'd like to see a few more buckles incorporated that would give the rider more options for securing the bag. I didn't want to cut it off so I wrapped one side up tightly with zip ties and used the other as a safety strap utilizing one of the female buckle parts on the bag as a receptacle for the strap's male buckle. This won't work if you're using the tablet pouch, but as I've said, I don't see the need for two pouches.

The draw-string bag inside the tank bag is a little cumbersome to use and I've read many reviews where the user has cut this out completely. It does serve a purpose to keep the contents dry when the rain bonnet is not in use, but it's a bit of a hassle.

As for overall durability, time will tell. I've had other Givi products and similar luggage and I've been generally happy with the build quality and the durability. I log thousands of miles per year and have had several pieces of good luggage last six or seven seasons and I find that acceptable.

A side note: I ride Moto Guzzi's and Givi does not make a quick-release tank ring for any Moto Guzzi models, but there is an engineer in Turkey who has created tank rings for several MG models and the quality is top-notch. Search for Givi Tank Ring for Moto Guzzi on ebay:

Just the right size.
I purchased this bag last month for my 2014 Kawasaki Concours 14. Givi does not recommend this bag for the Connie, but that was because the '08 & '09 models had a storage box on the tank. The placement of this bag would obstruct the storage on the bike. However, for the 2010+ it is not an issue. I simply ordered the flange designed for the Ninja 14. It fits the same.

The first thing I noticed when I got this was the quality. It is very well made, and has great features. It comes with a see through map section, an additional see through tablet section that is detachable, and a hi-viz yellow rain cover. The bag also has a built in rain cover in the main compartment.

The locking mechanism on the bottom of the bag is adjustable, and allows you to move the bag closer to, or further away from the rider. I have mine set to the furthest position away from me (as you can see in the photo below). The flange is easily installed, even for a completely mechanically inept individual such as myself. It took about 5-10 minutes to install the flange on the tank.

The bag itself locks in without any effort, and when the disconnect lever is pulled, the bag comes off just as easily. The bag also comes with a strap that wraps around the handlebars as an added security feature, so that is the lock failed the bag would not go bouncing down the highway at speed.

I also like that the bag is expandable, but even when expanded it's not too big/bulky. Also, when fully expanded the bag does not flop around, or lose it's rigidity. My only complaint about the bag is that I wish it had a divider inside the main compartment. One that could be adjusted to different configurations depending on what you may be carrying. This, however, is just a personal thing, and I would highly suggest anyone looking for a good quality locking tank bag consider the Givi XS307.

***Side note: The only reason I didn't give this bag an excellent rating for durability is because I've only had it a few weeks, and I haven't used but a handful of times as of yet. I will be taking a 3 week cross-country trip in June, and will be able to give any other +/- I see with the bag.***

Quality Product
After much debate and research, I chose the Givi 15L Tanklock bag. It was a rather good choice.

The bag itself is solidly manufactured. The fit and finish if each seam echoes the quality you'd expect from Givi.

The exterior waterproof bag fits snuggly and showed no flapping or ballooning even at speed. (I rolled my eyes at the day-glo green at first glance but then again, in a wet weather / low visibility situation, its just one more way to make you stand out to drivers on the road.#

The inclusion of a map / tablet pouch as part of the purchase is a welcome surprise as typically, competitors would sell it as an option. The only minor point is that it has a tendency to flap in the wind.

It isn't mentioned in the description but this bag does allow you to adjust the mount forward or back from center.

Lastly, Givi doesn't list Concours C-14 as available for use with this bag but that isn't the case. Use the BF-04 tank ring mount and you'll be fine. #For models 2010 and up that is, as the tank mounted storage bin prevents mounting of the bag.)

The only thing I could say is that you may want to consider the large bag once you realize the extra space is nice to have.

Birthday present from my wonderful wife. I love this bag
This bag has 2 narrow side pouches. They are big enough for my cable lock helmet lock and garage door opener on one side and my cell phone and mp3 player on the other. The main compartment (not expanded) holds my brake lock, canteen, snacks, side stand disk, charging cables and a few micro fiber cloths with some room to spare. This is the perfect for the essentials when you don't want to bother with side cases. I moved the ring back 1 hole and it fits great on my bike shifted slightly forward. No drilling needed. The ring lock is quick, easy and secure. My paint thanks me for the lack of contact, as the bag never touches the bike. I don't use the tablet pouch, as I ride with a map in the built in map case. I may see if I can rig it as a map case on a smaller tank lock bag in the future. Great value from a trusted company.

Pricey, but great size and attachment
I love the tank-lock feature, but wish you could lock the bag to the bike. Size is great, I carry a small thermos, 2 quart tupperware, extra gloves and a spare helmet visor. Side pockets are small but I really don't use them except for my garage door opener. Bag has a nice taper to the rear which still allows for an except-able level of tuck behind the windscreen. Surprisingly, I forget the bag is there after about 1 minute. Still way overpriced for what it is, but it's a great bag.

Givi XS 307 Tank bag/ 2015 Yamaha FJ-09
This tank bag works great, the quick lock is awesome. Comes with some adjustment for the perfect fit. All the materials and zippers appear to be top notch. The XS-307 is the right size for a day trip IMO, I think the larger XS-308 would be better for traveling.

Good Product for the Money
Got tire of magnetic tank bags scratching my tanks. So when I purchased a new bike, I went with the tank lock system. The XS307 is a nice sized tank bag. The stitching and zippers are well made, and I like the fact that you can keep your things extra dry with the inner liner. I wish the clear map window was larger, though. I comes with an attachable larger map/tablet window, but when that is installed, it is awkward to get into the tank bag. Better to just put a larger map window lid on the bag.

Also, the carrying strap should be detachable. I have to zip tie the strap and it just dangles in the front of the bag.

But overall, I like this product and it is a good buy for the money.

The bag comes with a detachable shoulder strap, so what is the smaller strap for on the side opposite the carry handle?
A shopper on Jun 16, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The strap opposite of the carry handle is used as a safety strap that goes around the headstock so if the tanklock fails you will not lose the bag.
Will an 8.5x11 sheet of paper/folder fit in the bag flat without needing to fold?
Corey W on Apr 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: An 8.5X11 sheet of paper can fit in there flat. You will have to angle the paper a little bit to slide it into the bag. once in, it sits flat, with all four corners of the paper touching some parts of the bag. Anything larger than that would bend in the bag. Hope this help.
Does is bag comes with the ring to fit f800gs adventure 2014?
A shopper on Jun 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If I understand your question, you are referring to the tank flange that allows the bag to be attached on top of the fuel door? If so, no it doesn't come with the bag. Tank flange has to be purchased separately to fit the specific bike AND the bag. The bag has the receiver ring on the bottom; after you have the compatible tank flange installed on top of the fuel door, you can attach the bag securely on the flange.
Can I use the touchscreen through the tablet holder?
Stephen E on Jun 1, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, but... I can not use the touch screen with my gloves on, so I need to stop and take my glove off to adjust anything using the touch screen on my iPad. I love using Waze as a GPS with moving map, it lets me see hazards and know somewhat where police are hiding.
An issue that I did not anticipate, is that the iPad shuts down if it gets hot. If I am in the sun on a warm day, the iPad display will shut down pretty soon. I am not sure if the bluetooth still functions, I'll know in a week or two once I get my new Sena 10U operating.
how does it mount ?
A shopper on Jan 23, 2016
BEST ANSWER: There is a bike specific lock ring that you attach using the screws around the gascap - then the tank bag attaches to that ring
The bag never touches the tank - very secure and a retention strap goes around the bar mount.
Very nice and better than magnets or strap mount - hope that this helps.

Will this Tank Bag fit on a Triumph Tiger 800 XC model 2.014 ? Do I have to buy extra accesories for this item ? Thakns for the answers and help
OMAR DAVID F on Jan 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: According to the fitment chart this will not currently fit your bike. However, according to the Givi website it may work if you get the BF-02 ring. Givi says that ring is used on all 800 XC model years. It is a great bag but if I were you I would do more research before buying it.
