The best by far GIVI RACK adapter for F800R, S, ST, GT
First I would say!
This support, "SR5109 Top Case Givi Rack" is not exclusively for the F800 GT.
This serves for models:
- F800 S (2004 - 2008)
- F800 ST (2004 - 2012)
- F800 R (2009 - 2016)
- F800 GT (2011 - 2016)
Always using the original "BMW LUGGAGE CARRIER" which is the same in all models specified above.
1 months of use, I am very satisfied with the firmness giving on the motorcycle.
I use with the "Givi Trekker Outback 42 Liter" Top Case.
BMW does not specify the maximum weight supported by their original rack. GIVI does not specify a maximum for this adapter, but 10KG for Trekker 42L
In my trips to the supermarket, I've been carrying almost to 23KG, (which I checked with a balance weight, including the weight of trekker) and although I admit that is excessive, I can say that firmness is amazing.
The only thing I did not like, and that it might be a coincidence, is that the 4 rubber bungs, which are based on the rack, and that its function is to prevent the vibrations of the topcase. They have spent very quickly (perhaps by excess weight). And the topcase no longer snaps and causes an unpleasant noise.
But I've seen, sold as spare these rubber plugs, even here in Revzilla. Under the name of "Rubber Bumper Z126 Givi Monokey and Monolock Set For Top Plates"
With the passage of time will I know. How strong would this adapter. Just as the original BMW rack and topcase.
I understand that I exaggerated, but it is a "usings real live" test of endurance, I think many would like to know the results.
Who are in doubt which one to buy.
"Givi SRA691" or "Givi SR5109" adaptors for F800R,S,GT.
I Recommend reading this too.
Initially I bought the original GIVI support for my BMW F800R, "Givi SRA691 Aluminum Top Case Rack BMW F800R 2011-2013"
Which is a real waste of money.
It is designed for a maximum weight of 6kg, and honestly, in a top case 33L or higher, which can be transported several things, easily exceeds the recommended weight.
As I mentioned above, I bought the "Givi Trekker Outback 42 Liter Top Case" along with the rack SRA691.
My experience, I went several times to the supermarket and unconsciously exceed 6kg. A few weeks later I noticed that the support was folded down. The side pieces, which are set by the bottom bent outward.
But long before trips to the supermarket.
From the first day I installed it on the motorcycle (the SRA691), on some rides, with the "Outback 42L", with a rain suit, some small tools, air pump and an anti-puncture kit, I felt I was pulling sideways on curves. I had the feeling that behind me was a person with loose hands lurching. I felt very insecure. I even thought it was a problem of the bike, and to doubt my management skills. Then I try again without the topcase and I realized that the rack was the problem. Although they seem hard, the lateral support pieces are fine, maybe this is the problem. And perhaps it sways when the bike is on a curve.
The rack (SRA691) since I installed it did not inspire confidence. Anchorage points on the bike are very close to each other (those above and below). The leverage effect of the weight is very strong. Very different from the anchor points of the original rack of BMW. And at first glance it is much more robust.
I recommend the combination of BMW LUGGAGE RACKS, + Givi SR5109
