But it's just not a motorcycle glove. It's a puffy ski glove!
I must admit, nowhere here or in any of Fly's advertising in MOTORCYCLE magazines do they SAY it's a motorcycle glove, but I feel it's implied.
Motorcycle gloves need protective features, quality construction and materials that will hold up, and protect your hand, in the event of a crash. This glove has none of that.
Yes it's probably nice and warm and comfy and would be great for snowmobiling, but I don't ride a snowmobile to work, or anywhere else. I ride on hard, abrasive asphalt. Usually in dicey conditions during the winter.
Hopefully someday a manufacturer will come out with a real battery heated motorcycle specific glove.
This glove is not such.
I still recommend buying this one size smaller than other gloves because you want to increase the contact with the heating pads. On days below freezing you will not get hot hands even at 100% heat setting but you won't have cold hands no matter how cold the outside temperature is. They can feel bulky at first but you get used to that pretty quick when the alternative is numb frozen fingers. I'll take an accidental tap on the horn any day over the inability to feel my fingers.
The main advantage of this set-up is that I can get off my bike and walk away and still have warm hands. No need to tediously unplug myself from the bike's battery every time I get off the bike and re-plug when I get back on. I even used these gloves on a freezing day at FedEx Field while I sat in the stands and watched my Redskins get their butts kicked as usual. The gloves did not run out of juice for the whole game.
If you ride in all 4 seasons, you should get any heated gloves for safety and maintaining confident control of your bike. Get Fly Ignitors if you want something entirely more versatile and practical for daily use than the more common plug-in heated alternatives.
These past few months haven't really been that cold compared to previous years. I think its been averaging somewhere around 40 to 50 degrees. Wind chill also hasn't been so bad but without the hippo hands my hands are colder and a bit numb toward the end of my trip.
These gloves seem to work fine with out the heat settings. Toward the end of my trip my finger tips will feel slightly cold, but its not a big enough problem to use the heat function. On the coldest days when I did use the heat function they did take a bit to warm up but once they did, they worked fine. Never had to use anything over level 1. IMO I'd say use level 2 if your sensitive to the cold and level 3 for under 40 degrees.
Battery wise, they do well for the 2-3 hours I commute everyday (one level 1) I charge them every night but I have not paid attention to the charge time, I usually plug them in before bed and their good to go in the morning.
Appearance the gloves are quite bulky IMO, I had trouble with clutching and breaking when I first got them. I had to get use to releasing my grip a bit more. Often I thought I had release the crutch but the engine would just rev when I throttled. After a few days I got use to it though, just have to break the gloves in and train that muscle memory. Also being gauntlet style they fit over my Tour Master Winter Jacket quite well.
As my first pair of heated gloves, they do fine and I would recommend them to others.

These gloves are just about perfect as they hold enough charge for a trip to work and back. I normally turn them off once I hit traffic as they're well insulated. I charge them when I get home.
They are a little bulky, but I can operate all my bike controls with little trouble. I don't have particularly large hands, but I found the LG size was just about a, ahem, glove fit.

The heating these gloves provide is adequate. There are 3 stages of heat. The first is mild and hardly noticeable, but helps on a cool morning. Level 2 is good as well and will break the chill of a 30-40 degree ride. Level 3 is very warm (if you're not moving) and is crucial for anything below 30 degrees. Warmth on level 3 only lasts for maybe 45-60 minutes. They also take a couple hours to charge, so keep in mind if you ride multiple times per day.
I'm happy to have these, and they do work pretty well, but don't be surprised when you go riding and its 20F outside and your fingers still get numb after a little while. This is why I believe they are slightly overpriced, because the heating is not as good as I'd hoped for.
Last thing I'll say though is it's super nice to NOT have cords to plug in to the bike that limit your movement. If you don't have/want other heated gear and all the accessories, then these gloves are for you.
