Good pants, some drawbacks
I have had these for over a year and several thousand miles. They are a solid product and I would recommend them to (1) a commuter who has the ability to change at your destination or (2) a tourer that wants low priced pants to wear in the heat. I would not recommend them to a commuter who can't change once at the office or to someone looking for a high-level of protection like what would be needed on the track.

Pros: cheap, really good build quality, good fabric and mesh selection, protection is present (but is base-level for sure), works well with over-the-shin riding boots, best airflow avaialble.

Cons: Knee pads can be uncomfortable and are only minimally protective, would be better if it included a pre-curved pad that worked while in riding position, would not work as an over-pant (do not buy if your are wanting an over-pant option), not long enough for standard boots or shoes (these do require a tall riding boot at least above the mid-point on the shin), base level protection (but better than jeans).

Great looking, great fitting and high quality.
Sizing worked well especially for shorter guys. I am about 5'8" and it was definitely difficult to get knee pads to land correctly. I tried many pants. The knee pads are adjustable on these and they are fantastic summer pants. I have not used them in colder weather or with liner. If I had to nitpick the knee pads being adjustable have rougher materials on the inside which can irritate slightly if you walk with them a lot. They don't bother while riding at all.

Disappointed
CONS: Pants look great in picture and theory but when i got on my bike was displeased! When in the riding position pants rode high a little above the ankle, the external padded knee protection puffs up a lot and the CE armor well wouldn't trust it at all in a crash (moves all over the place) also hip padding is nothing to brag about, but better then nothing.

PROS: The pants did fit very well and also was comfy and was pleased with the mesh (didn't feel cheap) also with the textile/nylon areas. Pants did give very well airflow and would of fell in love with them if wasn't for the short issue and the unpleasant "knee protection" issue

2 CENTS: Pants would be better off with no knee protection and having the rider use quality knee pads underneath.

Questionable protection
There isn't much to these pants. I wear them over jeans, I guess it's better than nothing, but not sure how much better. I am 6' tall, 190 pounds, I bought size Large. The knee protection hangs low. I can position it on my knees once seated, but if I were thrown from the bike I doubt the pads would stay where I need them to be. Velcro straps would probably help to tighten the knee area.

The protection at hips is minimal, the pads are small. There's no other protection of any significance anywhere else on the pants. For the price paid, this is a big disappointment. Unfortunately I've worn them so I can't return them.

If you are serious about protection, look elsewhere.

Seemed well made but didn't fit. Recommend ordering your standard size.
Based on one of the only other reviews here, I ordered standard/small-ish, expecting them to be oversized. (I'm usually a 35x34 pant and ordered size 34). I did not find them to be oversized at all, and had to return. This is just over a pair of shorts. Size 36 waist would have likely worked for me and had a bit of room to adjust.

Note length was way too short for me. I usually wear a 34 inseam and there was no way these would work in riding position. So even though I suspect the 36 waist would have worked, I couldn't solve the length issue so had to return and order different pants.

Overall seemed well made, though of course they are a summer/mesh pant so I didn't expect them to be entirely bomb-proof. I didn't even open the liner so can't speak to that.

If you order true to waist size, can deal with the 32 inseam, and understand it's a mesh / lighter pant, I suspect you'll be OK.

Okay
Pros - breathe pretty well. Fairly adjustable. Feel good on the bike.

Cons - Wimpy design at the ankles. Wearing fast. Should have had some beefy material on the inside of the ankle. Bulkier than then need to be.

Quality seemed good, size was much too large
I am a size 33-34 waist in jeans, and was told they run small so I went with the size 36. When I got them they were huge, so I recommend going with whatever size jeans you wear because a 34 would be been much better. The knee armor was also way below my knee, but this could just be because they were too big. They also look more slim fit in the picture, but they were more like overpants when I got them

They're Ok. I guess?
Pros:
These pants are fine up in to the 90s here in FL
These pants are more protective than jeans in a slide
The build quality seems to be pretty good especially given the price
Cons: Not really waterproof, I was in a short thunderstorm and my shorts and underwear were both soaked and water was running down into my boots
The knee armor will not stay where it is supposed to on the bike and gets in the way off of it.
These pants will not work as underpants, and you need to wear shorts under them to avoid flashing anyone.

Are these more over pants or stand alones?
David M on Oct 5, 2015
BEST ANSWER: These are definitely overpants. I wear a 36" and ordered 38". They are a bit big but have 2 velcro straps on the waistband to take up the slack if any. I like them alot but now wish I purchased zip ups as these pants as these are difficult to put on and take off if you've got your boots on already. Pants first... then boots... boots off pants off. :)

They have a removable waterproof liner which is a pretty good wind blocker, but it is very thin, no insulative properties at all. The hip pads are minimal but better than nothing and the knee pads are decent.
Is all of the armor upgradable?
