FlashTune Data-Link ECU Flashing Kit Yamaha R1 / R6 / FZ-10

The Flash Tune Data-Link ECU Flashing Kit is capable of unlocking a multitude of functions hidden within your OEM ECU. The Data-Link kit includes a bike side harness that permanently installs to your motorcycle and a USB adapter harness that allows you to make changes to the OEM ECU. You will no longer need to send away your ECU to get flashed!

Flash Tune believes everyone deserves the same tuning technology that was once reserved for factory riders. With FlashTune's software you can remove restrictions that the factory must put in place to meet strict street vehicle regulations. By flashing your ECU you are able to tune your bike without interfering with critical correction factors.

The Data-Link kit combined with FlashTune's Software not only allows control of fuel maps, but also functions such as rev-limiter, top speed limiter, O2 sensor on/off, AIS valve and fan on/off temp. Another great feature that is not found anywhere else on the market is the ability to edit the deceleration map. Most if not all stock maps cut all fuel when the throttle is closed, by adding small amounts of fuel during deceleration it smooths out weight transfer and keeps the chassis settled, resulting in a faster lap time.

FlashTune ECU Tuning Software and installation guides are available at www.ftecu.com.

Flash Tune allows control over the following:

  • Remove ECU restrictions
  • Engine braking adjustments
  • High load fuel maps (with PC3 and PC5 map importing)
  • Low load (cruising) fuel maps
  • Fuel injector proportioning
  • Ignition timing
  • Immobilizer function
  • Cooling fan temps
  • Rev-limiter control
  • Remove top speed limiter
  • ECU based quick-shifting with additional quick-shifting hardware (sold separately)
  • Electronic steering-damper settings
  • Speedometer calibrations

Note: This item can not be returned once it has been registered and mated to a VIN number. Functions will vary by model. FlashTune Software for PC only. For closed circuit racing use only.

Why did you choose this?

I wanted to just go and get a dyno tune, which i may in the future. But this seems to be the best option to diy a 3/4 exhaust with slip-on and tune it with an off the shelf map. You also save a little by not needing a servo buddy and can control other aspects of the bike like fans, tc and factory limiters.

Do I need a Power commander or similar product to utilize this? will this be efficient for cat elimination and exhaust?
Daniel W on Jun 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, you do not NEED a PC or similar product to use the FTECU and eliminate the cat, but adding a PC as well is really the only way to dial your bike's air/fuel ratios down precisely to maximize power, torque and delivery based on your exact bike, elevation, upgrades, etc. I have a '15 r1 with an Akra 3/4 de-cat exhaust and I'm running the preloaded graves 3/4 exhaust map on the FTECU with NO power commandor or dyno tuning and it runs fantastic. Sure I could probably squeeze out another horse or two here and there in the power curve with a PC but I'm not a competitive track rider and don't care one bit. To be sure, depending on your application there may not be a preloaded map on the FTECU that gets you close enough to run well enough to be happy (probably unlikely), in which case you might want to hit a dyno with a PC- but the FTECU will likely get you close enough and has a lot more awesome features than just air/fuel mapping. You will absolutely need/want smog block off plates if you remove that cat though. You should also spend some time on the R1 forum to answer all your questions. Ride safe ;)
Does this enable mode selection on the fly?
A shopper on Jun 13, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It does not. You still have to come to a complete stop to change which between driving modes.
