This really is an excellent buy for the money. I probably haven't spent better money as far as value is concerned. It is warm. I mean really warm! You would have to ride in sub 20 degree weather to get cold in this suit. I have seen 30 degrees in it with a Nike fleece under it. I don't even think the fleece was necessary. Very water proof, I live in Washington trust me I know. I ride in the rain, alot. Disregard any review that says it has good ventilation. It has NO ventilation, no zippered openings, no vents, nothing. It does fold nicely into a backpack however because it has no armor (so don't decide to "lay er down" ). If you have a light (textile Joerocket) jacket you can fold into said backpack you can switch for warmer weather. The fit is large and catches a lot of wind. I am 5.11, 180 athletic build I bought the large check the pics for fit. Should have maybe tried a medium.

All I can say is I'm warm in sub 30 temps
I rode to work for the past 4 days in temps below 30 (45 minute ride) and all I had on was the suit with Dockers and a long sleeve polo. I was fine except my toes were a bit chilled (not the suites fault). Only thing I wish is that they had a large short because it’s about 2” too long. BUY THIS SUIT!

TOP NOTCH GEAR
I have ridden my motorcycles year around for almost 30 years now. I know a few things about cold weather riding. I bought the Thermo suit because it was recommended to me by a biker friend. Not cheep, but he swore by it. I put my money down and I've never looked back. Best money I have EVER spent on ANYTHING dealing with a motorcycle. I rode 200 miles of interstate at 70 to 80 mph from 3 am to 5 am one morning to get to a hospital for my sons surgery. It was 23 degrees when I climbed on the bike. I was wearing a short sleeved polo shirt and some cargo pants under the suit. My body never got cold. My toes and fingers liked to have gotten frostbite but, other than that, I stayed warm. If you ride in the cold do yourself a favor and just get one. If Firstgear stopped making them, you couldn't buy mine for any amount of money.

I did not get a chance to wear anything underneath yet
I rode in low 30s during the nor'easter (near blizzard snow conditions) high winds and snow pour. And all I had underneath was a t-shirt and a pair of undies. This thing is amazing - for lack of a better word. Amazing.

I wore it only once in moderate rain, no problems. Did not get a chance to try it out in truly heavy downpour - can't wait.

warm and dry
This suit is a great deal for the money. Fits great, sizing chart is right on, I'm 5'5" 155 and the small was a perfect fit. Easy to get on and off. Has kept me warm and dry on my 90 mi commute. Freeway speeds at 45 degrees and rain and I was dry and warm. If something happens to this one I will definitely replace it.

Excellent cold weather suit
My commute is 45 miles each way mostly on the highway at 75mph. I have no protection on the bike (no windshield, no heated grips, no hand guards or heated seats) and yet I only wear a pair of jeans and a t-shirt under this suit. If the temperature drops below 35F I have to put my jacket on too. I have ridden in the high 20s and I still felt warm. The only downside of the suit is that it gets too hot over 50F. I'm 5'10.5'', 180 pounds with an athletic body. The large fits perfectly when I have the jacket on and is a little baggy when not.

Good but ... Pants way too long....
I always ride w/CE jacket, so I got XXL instead of XL. Fits awesome on top over my 46 S&S leather jacket. Pants are unbelievably too long. I have 35" inseams and the bottom end on this is super long. I can't immagine how a rounder frame person would fit in these pants. The waterproof aspect hasn't been tested yet, but even with the long legs, I like these. The two way zipper on the pants legs lets you access your inner pants pockets w/ease. Not sure why others complain about no access. Works fine for me. As for airflow, the last thing I want is air-flow in a waterproof suit....airflow = waterflow. IMHO...

Excellent suit for staying warm and dry!
Absolutely love the new suit. It's much warmer than I expected, as I don't really like the cold at all. I'm 5'11 and 160lbs. and ordered the Large. Fits very nicely, standing up and riding both (I'm on an 06 gsx-r1000). Last time I was out was on Christmas day in Oklahoma where the temp was in the low 30's and stayed VERY warm. Only had jeans and a button up shirt on under the suit! Definitely worth the price to stay warm and get a little more riding time in during the winter months.

Only thing I would change is for them to offer more color options, and maybe a couple extra pockets.

Very warm
I bought this based on the other reviews and, although I've only worn it once, it appears to be well worth the money. Based on Pete's (from customer services) recommendation, I bought a medium (5'8", 175lbs) and the fit is good, a little long in the legs, but not too much. It was almost too warm at 46°F.

My only complaint is that there is no easy way to run the cord for my heated gloves through the suit. A little porthole at the waist would be a big improvement. I'm probably going to have to wear a mesh jacket over the suit to hold the cords.

I have a husband who is 6'2 and 220 lbs what size suit would he need?
A shopper on Oct 29, 2017
If I"M 5-11 and 203 lbs what size suit should I get L, or XL?
A shopper on Dec 14, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Large. I am 210 and 5'8" and it fits perfect. Plenty of length in the legs and the body fits great. I usually even wear a fleece jacket underneath so when I take it off I have a light jacket to wear. Very warm suit
I am a male, 5-07, 30 inch inseam, weight is 190 waist is 38. From what I have read I'm leaning toward Medium but I haven't bought anything in Medium since I was in High School which makes me think Large. What is your recommendation?
A shopper on Sep 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I am 5-09,male 30 inch inseam,34 inch waist and weigh 200.I have a large and it fits good. Also I just use it in the Fall and Winter with long under ware only.Hope this helps.Best one piece I ever owned and I tried many. Joe G.
A few questions here: #1 is most important.

1. Proper / best sizing: Riding is 6' tall, 205#, 33" inseam. L or XL?

Note: Must be comfortable this is for long / all day rides 400+ mile segments.

2. If the weather warms up during your trip can you simply unzip the suit to cool your self down? Or do you need to stop and remove it?

3. Additionally: For the above trips, based on the reviews, I should also buy heated gloves and boot liners. Any thoughts and/or suggestions about gear for long winter trips?
A shopper on Dec 17, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Sorry, I didn't see the other questions. Unfortunately, this is a winter only suit. It has NO ventilation and is very warm. I don't wear it unless it is below 40 F and don't need to layer under it except for longer rides below 20 F. I would not recommend it during warmer seasons.

As for heated items, I think having a good pair of heated gloves and heated socks, insoles, or boot liners are a perfect so you can ride no matter what the temperature. With this suit, adding a heated vest and pants would be overkill except for long haul sub-zero rides, but the heated article for hands and feet complete the package nicely. By the way, I highly recommend getting a rheostat (temp. Controller) with these items so you can tailor the heat to your liking. Oyo will get a lot more use out of them this way instead of just off or on. I use Gerbings and swear by them, but they are the only heated gear I have ever owned. There are other quality brands sold on this site. Hope this helps.

Ride Safe,

Tony
I'm a school busy driver. Can I buy one of this to keep me warm while I'm doing pre-trip inspection and waiting for my bus to warm up?
A shopper on Jul 30, 2017
BEST ANSWER: This suit can be used for just about any duty to keep you warm and toasty. I use mine to ride my street bikes in the winter season, which is the main focus of the suit. Just be aware that you might want to dress in layers, as you will quickly overheat. Some people just wear underwear beneath the suit, as it is quite warm! I love mine! My only complaint would be the overuse of velcro, causing you to stick to everything while you're putting the thing on. ;)
Do the legs have zippers that zip all the way up? I'm looking for a suit I can get into where I don't have to take my boots off every time.
A shopper on Oct 29, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes,zippers zip up to your hip.Owned almost 15 different suits over the past 40 years at all prices. This is by far the best suit I have owned.Joe G
Looking at getting this suit. Does the pant lowers have zippers so you can put them on with boots? Or do you have to take your boots off, then take off the suit?

Thanks
Aron F on Oct 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Aron,

Yes, there are zippers at the bottom to help with putting the suit on and taking the suit off. I find that if i'm wearing work boots with a tread, it is a little difficult getting the suit on and off, but not as hard as other suits i've had. It is plenty warm, great for cold weather riding. Make sure you get it large enough so you can layer. I find the upper body a little small compared to with how the rest of the suit fits.

Steve
Bought the suit 2 weeks ago for commuting and really like it a lot. I would like to add armor to the mix, and while I could use my summer-weight armored jacket that defeats the purpose of a simple on/off commuter gear setup I was looking for. I'm wondering if anyone has added armor directly to the suit itself, probably by buying armor and somehow (velcro, sewing in pockets, ?) adding to the suit.

Anyone add armor to this suit?
Robert C on Oct 25, 2013
BEST ANSWER: Firstgear has a version of this suit which is literally this suit but with armor built in. It seems nice but I didn't get it cus it was like $650 as opposed to $200 and just using my existing synthetic jacket underneath. I would search for that suit
I have a firstgear riding jacket with shoulder, elbow, and back pads. I would like to be able to wear it with the rain suit. I wear a large according to your chart. Can I wear my jacket over the suit, or should I get a X-large so the suit goes over the jacket? I also have long leggs for my height and weight. (35" inseam) Will I need the X-large for longer legg length. Thank you.
A shopper on Oct 4, 2011
BEST ANSWER: I don't think you'll need the jacket. If it's above 60 you'll likely burn up in the Thermo suit. It's toasty.
Hi I am 6'1" I am 255 pounds with a in seam of 33 inches . Which would fit me best xl or 2xl ?
A shopper on Apr 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I would definitely size up. I'm 6'0, 44" chest, 34"inseam and 215 lbs. I have the XL. The legs and seat fit perfectly but the torso fit was too tight and not long enough. Getting the suit off my shoulders was very difficult without assistance. The suit is not armored and there's no way to wear armored gear under it. It is very warm. Almost too warm even down to mid -low 30's at highway speed. I found myself sweating after about 30 minutes while wearing normal street clothes under it.
