Dainese X-Strike Gloves

Someone over at Dainese has been watching Terminator II Judgment Day a lot and we like it. The Dainese X Strike Gloves feature a T-1000 inspired Ergo-Tek knuckle, polyurethane inserts on the joints of the fingers and palm, as well as Dainese’s distortion control finger connection and TPU sliders. The XStrike also blends a cowhide leather construction with a reinforced Amica suede palm, making them terminator tough and ensuring you'll "be back" (insert Arnold voice) if you ever have to use this glove's protective features.

  • Ergo-Tek knuckles
  • Polyurethane insert on the joints of the fingers and palm
  • Distortion Control on little finger
  • TPU inserts on side of little finger

Nice looking glove but lacks durability!
I loved this glove sooo much that i eventually bought 2 pair but after 6-7 months of wearing 1 pair i noticed a hole in the index finger. The problem with the glove is the velcro. It slowly eats away at the suede every time you fasten the strap, which will result in a hole. Will i buy more? Hecks nooo! Beautiful glove that feel great on the hand but not worth the $200. Before these i had some rev'it gloves lasted me 2 years riding 6 days a week.

Died (Hole in the finger) in 7 Months - Avoid!
Let me start by saying that I am a HUGE fan of Dainese products. I have jackets and 6 pairs of gloves from Dainese (Race Pro, Carbon GTX X-Trafit, 2 Stroke, Huge Air, etc.,)

They have all weathered well over the years EXCEPT Dainese X-Strike. It started to get 'fluffy' within couple of months and it developed a hole in 7 months.

I'm not sure if they used sub-standard material on X-Strike gloves but it is NOT Dainese quality.

Terrific gloves - look amazing
I got the white/red/black and wow they look even more stunning in person than on screen. I constantly get questions, where did I get those, what kind are they, etc. The folks at Dainese really know how to design.

The idea of separated knuckles, rather than one large piece of metal on top of your hand, is brilliant. This enables your hand to flex and move freely and still have rock solid protection.

Some reviewers have remarked that they are a little trickier to take off than gloves with a single large hunk of armor on the top of the hand, and I think that's true. However, I don't want them to fly off my hand too easily, and I'll take an extra 2 seconds to pull them off each time I ride!

They really fit like comfortable mechanic gloves. The level of overall protection I think is very high considering they are short cuffs, but obviously you can max out armor better by getting a gauntlet style.

A few caveats to consider:
* Yes use their size chart, but I still think the sizing /fit is a tad small. These are "Italian" style--- cut on the trim size--so I just don't think they would work for guys with really beefy hands.

* I found them MUCH more comfortable after a couple of weeks of break-in. I even put some leather conditioner on them which helped them stretch out a bit for me. I guess I was spoiled by the Held Short Race gloves which feel broken in almost day one. (Also great short gloves, arguably a little beefier and roomier but not at stylish!) A little patience with breaking these in will be rewarded--and they look awesome in particular with the Dainese Super Speed Textile jacket.

* They are on the cooler side -- probably not warm enough for the dead of winter, keep that in mind. I think 3 season warm.

Great glove - but not for me
Have been excited for these to be released ever since I saw photos a few months ago - killer looking gloves. Ordered the day they became available on RevZilla and arrived before my local stores even had them, nice.

The PROs:
-Look amazing, like nothing else I've seen.
-Good attention to detail, every stitch is precise and the gloves look and feel premium.
-Easily the softest glove I've put on out of the box.
-Along with the softness, the material makes these super comfortable.
-Feel lighter weight than I expected a full leather glove like this to be.
-More knuckle mobility than the 4 Stroke (prior model to the Evo) gloves I had before, barely feel the knuckle protection is there.

The CONs:
-The fit is somewhat of a head-scratcher. I measure 8.5" around my knuckles and have the 4 Stroke and the Full Metal RS in size medium. Those finger lengths and palm widths are perfect once you break them in over a few weeks. The X-Strike in medium, however, have an abnormally short thumb which I do not imagine would ever break in enough over time. The finger tips were on the short side too but not unbearably so - and I have short/thick fingers.
-The opening to put these gloves on was much tighter than I expected. Would be good to see that made larger a bit and then be able to cinch it closed with the velcro.
-I didn't think of this before, but taking the glove off is much easier with one solid knuckle piece rather than the split knuckles. I could grip it from both sides and pull whereas without it, you have to pull on each finger and wriggle these gloves off (may improve over time and breaking in, though).

Perhaps I would be better off in a Large, but two things make me think not: first, once the gloves were on they were perfect aside from finger length, and second, I had a chance to try on a size Large X-Run (no X-Strikes available at the store) and found the material bunched up too much when I closed my hand and the fingertips were comfortable but perhaps a tiny bit too long. Or maybe I got used to the super close finger length, not sure.

Either way, I ended up ordering the 4 Storke Evo which I received yesterday. For the same price, it's no contest - much better fit (definitely need to be broken in, but already can tell), better protection, looks better to me actually, and I prefer the goatskin leather palm with "Rossi tickler" over the softer leather of the X-Strike.

In the end, if you like the look and feel of the X-Strike and the fit works for you, I wholly endorse them. But for me, the 4 Stroke Evo gloves make more sense.

Tons of protection for a light weight glove
I was looking for more protection in a summer glove, and this glove delivered. The isolated knuckle pads make it easy to two finger the brakes or clutch. The most comfortable higher protection glove I have owned. Because of all of the protection, air flow is not quite what I was hoping for. In mid 90 degree heat, my hands were sweating. In brutally hot weather, I will opt for something a little lighter weight. I would say this is a Spring, medium Summer weight, early Fall type glove.
I would buy again.

Not worth the money
Bought these from a local dealer on a road trip. Two weeks later the strap stitching came undone. Four months old and only 7 week of riding and worn out. Dainese requires you to register the gloves along with the proof of purchase to warranty.

Lacks durability
Like GeorgeGee, i wore through the index fingers in less than a year. The gloves are very comfortable and flow plenty of air for a leather glove, but less than a year out of $200 gloves is not OK.

Just wait until they break in. Worth the extra $$
They fit slightly large compared to the Astars S-MX 2 Air Carbons, or maybe those Astars fit slightly small. Either way I was interested in a more stylish glove w/ more protection that didn't look too "racey" and these Dainese are outstanding. I noticed some other reviewers complained that the pinky finger protection is irritating on the knuckle and I definitely had the same issue @ first but the gloves break in nicely and it goes away. The gloves are the coolest looking IMO, I got the black on black version and will be using these as long as they last. I think Dainese are the best quality products and will buy over Astars every time

Top notch glove
This gloves definitely stays true to dainese standards - Outstanding fit and quality. These are the most comfortable glove I have had yet. The fit is true to the other dainese gloves I have. The ergo tech knuckle is totally awesome you not even feel it. Air flow is good between the fingers. I only wish the velcro would tighten a little more. If you are on the fence about these gloves definitely get them.

Great protection and look
Been using these for the last few months and already nicely broken in. I was looking for great protection without going for a full racing glove, this fit the bill. A little pricy, but well wroth the investment in a quality piece like this.

Well, after doing a proper research I found that these gloves have some great reviews since Dainese released them. Great technology, a fine structure, friction points are smartly protected. And, ofcourse, these gloves look awesome. I chose the white version due to my obsesion with hi viz. These gloves are not racing or touring look but they have enough presence and develop to feel like one of those. I hope they last couse here the weather is really agrresive.

***Update: 2 months in, neoprene cuff has separated from velcro (due to my wide palms) difficult to pull on, especially in warm weather. Otherwise, holding up great.

I wanted to ask how breathable are these gloves are in hot weather conditions?
Tim J on Jun 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I really love these gloves. I purchased these gloves about 2 months ago and they are the best MC gloves I have ever had. They keep your hands reasonably warm in the cool weather. I recently completed a 4000 mile trip on my KTM 1190R from my home base in Montana back to Thunder Bay Ontario and back through Minnesota, South Dakota and the mountains of Wyoming and Montana and the gloves were kept my hands relatively cool even though the the temp got up over 100 degrees a couple afternoons. The holes on the sides of fingers do good job of allowing airflow through the gloves to cool things off. Haven't worn them in really cold conditions yet, but with heat grips I think they be fine.

Hi. I'd like to buy a dainese X-strike gloves, but I have seen on videos that the measure of dainese gloves follow a lower standard (I don't know if this is correct).
The extent of my hand according to the dainese size chart orientation is 9 inches using a fit metric tape (I mean: without clearance between the hand and the tape). Should I buy a Glove LG corresponding to 9 inches or should I buy a number up?
Thanks

BEST ANSWER: I bought mediums as listed on the size chart and thought they might be a bit big for me, but recently tried on the smalls in person and those would have been the wrong choice. Stick to the chart and you'll be fine.
