great product, though lacking size range
The product itself is great, with excellent build quality. However, I wish there was another size - my jacket is a Dainese D1, size 48, and the "mens" size recommended by Revzilla wouldn't fit, so I ordered the smaller size "womens" and it does fit in the jacket but I think it could be built slightly larger. Thus is would be great if they had a small, medium, and large back protector that fit accross the range of sizes of their jackets...as well a better sizing chart would be even better, saving time ordering, sending back, and ordering again.

Saved my back
Went down, landed on my back, hopped right back up. Only a few sore muscles in my back that night and the next day. Aside from that I am fine. Fits perfectly in my Dainese jacket.

Good protection for your Dainese jacket
Good solid protection for your newer Dainese jacket. Dainese changed the pocket on their jackets a few years ago so if you have an older jacket like mine this will not work very well. It will fit inside the pocket of the older models however it will stretch the pocket a lot which causes the protector to bow out. This produces a large hump back look when wearing the jacket. If you have a newer D jacket this should not be a problem as the pocket is made of this protector.

Ride Safe -- Protect your back
Just got my back protector in. Sturdy and very cool looking unit. Fit into the large pocket of the Dainese Air-Frame textile jacket with no problem. My back feels complete protected by this piece and has a really comfortable position when getting low on the bike. Great purchase for anyone wanting to stay alive on a motorcycle.

Overall great
feels good, feels safe, ride with confidence.
I wear the Dainese air frame jacket in a 50.
I ordered up an inch or 2 so i could use a back protector as im closer to a 48.
Protector takes up the extra 2 inches
Downside:
This protector is a little long for the pocket, it fits but it definitely puts the velcro holding it in place to the test.
Its not a big deal since the zipper still keeps it in place
Overall I have no complaints but it would be nice if it fit just a bit better.

Upgraded Protection
I'm using the Manis D1 G1 with the women's Dainese Racing D1 jacket. The back protector has a fairly substantial thickness. I went up a size in my jacket to be able to fit the protector but it was good compromise for the upgraded protection. After 5 or 10 minutes, I didn't really notice it much and by the end of my 200 mile ride it just seemed to be part of the jacket.
If you already have a race fit jacket beware of the space needed to add this protector. Definitely recommend.

It "fits"
Nice back protector, but just baaaarely squeezed into my airflow dainese jacket. I guess mine was suited for the older model back protector. I just wish these was a clear way to know what jackets this will fit. I don't notice it when riding, and I'm happy to have some peace of mind.

Great back protector
This is a very substantial back protector. You definitely feel it in your jacket, but you also feel very protected. It isn't unlike any other Dianese product, it's top quality.

Great back protector option
I'm 5'11" and Manis D1 G2 covers great portion of my back, it fits in the large insert pocket of Dainese Laguna Seca Tex 52 but its a tight fit. It did tightened the jacket a bit but I can move freely, I'm fit so this didn't constrained jackets mobility and it actually helped get the jacket more fit then loose around my sides. Very happy with fitment, i just hope it will come handy when I'll need it.

I feel safe
This thing is not comfortable, but on the same note, I honestly forget about it until I'm off the bike and walking around. It makes any jacket get a nice humpback.
I have mine in a Dianese air crono mesh jacket and it drastically decreases the air flow that I felt the few times I wore the jacket without the back protector in it. But the safety trade off alone obliterates any loss of airflow. Especially in a mesh jacket.
Definitely would purchase again, and when the weather gets colder, this back protector will migrate to a new leather jacket.

What are the dimensions of this protector? It would be very helpful to know.
BEST ANSWER: The D1 Manis G1 has the following approximate measurements::
16 inches long
10.5 inches wide (at widest point)
1.5 inches thick (at densest point)
I used a tailors tape measure, but the item is bowed to curve with your back and had elasticated panels that stretch and foam shock absorption, so others might get slightly different results depending on level of use. I've had mine seven months.
Hope that helps!

Thanks.

Does the Dainese Manis D1 G Back Protector Insert fit into the Dainese Air-flux Textile Jacket back protector slot?
Will the Dainese Manis D1 G Back Protector Insert fit into the Dainese Air-Flux Textile Jack back protector slot?
Will this fit the Dainese Super Speed C2 Perforated Leather Jacket?
What size (G1 or G2) is going to fit the Dainese air frazer jacket size 46? I assume G2 but the size make me this the G1 is the better fit.
BEST ANSWER: AAMER is wrong. I measured my size 46 jacket and it's not long enough to hold the G2, G2 is 19 inches and the jackets back protector insert area is around 16 inches long. G1 will fit not G2
Follow the sizing as revzilla describes:
Choose G1 for Women's Jackets and Men's Jackets up to size 48
Choose G2 for Men's Jackets size 50 and up

Will this fit into the Dainese Super Speed C2 Perforated Leather Jacket?
What's different about the D1 vs the other Manis insert? I'm looking to purchase a back protector for a Dainese Razon Perforated Leather Jacket and want to know if the Manis will fit.
BEST ANSWER: D1 in dainese terms just means that its a new product, they started doing that in late 2014. so if an article has a D1 it just means its the newer product. in 2016 it will prob be D2. For the Razon... i think the pocket is not made for the Manis just for the Wave, so if you want to be sure get the Wave, they started fitting the pockets for the manis in 2014 so if your jacket has velcro on the top right and left it will take the manis, if not, bad luck mate.

BEST ANSWER: 1) I am not sure how it compares to the older version, but the current model's dimensions are approx 16" long, 10.5" wide (at widest point), and 1.5" thick (at thickest point).
2) Yes, my tag for the G1 reads "D1 Manis G.1" so it will definitely say which size it is on the tag.

Hi... I recently bought the air frazer jacket size 52(brazil)... Does it fits this jacket model perfectly? Thanks
BEST ANSWER: Yes it does. It fits my Size 48 Air Frazer perfectly. I had to struggle a little inserting the head for the first time, but It's east insert once the head is in.
