2 k so far a little better than the Shinko 804 front
I have had these tires on for about 2k miles so far. Paired with a Motoz ADV Rear. On dry tarmac: Grip is great after about a 300 mile scrub in, until you wear off the casting seal it's a little squirmy. Wet Tarmac: Grip is as expected for a knobby, not great, doesn't shed water as well as the 804. Dry Dirt: Turn in is good however it does break loose a good bit more than the Motoz MKII, it is slightly better than 804 in dirt. Mud: Packs up fast and doesn't clear great. It's a compromise tire so understand that.

Overall: I consider the Shinko 804 / 805 as the most average tire for larger ADV bikes. The front of this set is better in the dirt and a little less on the road. If you do moderate off roading or more challenging single track it will serve you well in dry conditions. At 2k it's not excessively cupping and is wearing very well.

Pairs great with Motoz ADV rear! Unlike Motoz fronts...

7000+ on a loaded DRZ400s
Did the TAT 5000ish miles and back home via the pavement 2500miles and still had tread! Not a ton but I still rode around for a month after on them. I prob had 40lbs of gear plus 180 lbs of me and id guess I got a little over 7k miles on them. They were loud and hoppy on the road but no speed wobbled or anything.

Two different bikes, 6 pairs, expensive and low tread life.
By now I have had the opportunity to test this tire on a Tiger 800 and a 1290 SAR. I ride modestly, no fancy fast paced Dakar or racing.

The good:
- awesome grip on pavement, dirt/rock, overall off-road.
- holds up well to punctures
- easy to self change.
The bad:
- tread life is low. The max I can do on either moto is 3k miles.
- noobies tend to disintegrate on gravel/rock roads within ~600 miles.

I think it’s time to switch. The cost vs. miles I got on this tire is becoming crazy. Average set runs ~$300. If you do around 8000 miles a year, like I do, that’s an added $1k in tires annually + service fees.

Fantastic offroad, surprisingly good on road.
I've had these tires up to about 25mph on loose dirt ATV trails, and up to about 80mph on the street. They've had a suprisingly good grip in both situations.

They handled mud a few inches deep fine (although I did hit one patch about 6" deep which proved too much for them, not surprising anyone reading this) but they can like all off-road tires fill up with mud or loose debris if you aren't careful. Not a fault of the TKC's, just something to keep in mind when riding offroad.

On the asphalt they've gripped nearly as well as my street tires did. It took some adjusting at first and at low speeds they are certainly a little more squirrely but it's nothing that I (as a fairly new rider) couldn't handle, so I doubt that many people will have an issue with it.

Road noise is higher than street tires but not appreciably so.

The only downside to these tires is that they are somewhat soft, so I expect tread life to be diminished. Keep a good eye on them and make sure you don't lose chunks out on the road...these aren't the tires made for heavy handed throttle riders or people who love to gun it from a stop (although you can definitely still get and maintain speed with these on).

Again, nature of the beast.

Overall I love these tires and highly recommend them. Nearly every forum and review I read said these were fantastic, and I completely agree.

Safe riding!

Awesome tire
I the E-07 on the rear and a TKC-80 on the front of my Africa Twin. They are better than the OEM tires in everyway. Great in the Twisties, on the WABDR trails and the Pacific Northwest rains. I have 2k miles on them and can tell they're going to last. This is now my go-to set up.

Fantastic tire!
Yeah-yeah, short thread life, not a good bang for the bug, blu-blu-bluh, bad investment, etc.... Who cares, if these tires give you confidence where and when you need it most! Why would you invest in tires, considering monetary factor anyway? The only currency here is performance and confidence. Assuming, of course, you are riding your big ADV bike off-road. TKC80 has phenomenal performance on sand, gravel, big rocks, forest roads, etc. Fantastic cornering and overall tarmac ride quality; on-par with most 80/20 tires. Somewhat slippery in the rain though. Basically, you get about one front for two, or even three rear tires. One rear lasts about couple thousand miles, give or take. But those are very confidence-inspiring miles! Will buy my next set in few weeks.

Honda XR 650L - They do it all
This season I rode a great dual sport that had 10-15 miles of real enduro trail, dirt roads and trails and curvy asphalt. I was shocked how well these tires did all of this.

The only fail of the day was on steep loamy trail. Rocks? No problem. Even mud wasn't a disaster. After all that dirt, I got to sport bike the asphalt twisties. Ran about 30 pounds too.

Still setting the standard
Swapped out a relatively fresh (<1k miles) set of Karoo3's for some fresh TKC80's before a multi-day ride that was 95% dirt, mostly ATV trails... lots of rocks, mud, soft stuff, with some occassional high speed dirt roads mixed in, and it just reminded me how good these tires really are for bringing the big dual sports into all kinds of challenging terrain. Sure, the rear wears out and the sidewalls are a little soft but have yet to find anything that performs as consistently across varied surfaces.

Turrible
These come standard on my KTM 250 EXC-F

Bad tires for any real off road riding. Cant wait to do burnouts on these. These are good on dry dusty roads and that is about it. Anything like sand, soft dirt, or wet mud these are pretty useless. They hook up well on medium sized rocks.
