Biltwell EXFIL-80 Luggage

EXFIL is military jargon for "exfilltrate," which means "Get the hell out of there as fast and organized as possible." The EXFIL 80 will easily swallow everything you need to travel and camp from your motorcycle for days on end while still allowing quick and easy access to the items you need. Adding functionality, the large external tool compartment is padded on the outside so you can treat it like a backrest. This section easily unzips to put your tools and smaller items right at your fingertips without unstrapping the bag from your bike. The EXFIL-80 is UV-treated and water resistant, but when you need 100% waterproofing, just open the zipper under the tool compartment and pull out the attached waterproof sleeve, which slides it over the entire pack and cinches at the bottom.

Features:

  • 15” wide x 12” deep x 18” tall when closed
  • 55 liter capacity
  • UV Treated 1680 ballistic polyester
  • PVC backed for increased water resistance
  • Roll-top closure with velcro and side release Duraflex buckles
  • Hi-Viz orange interior liner
  • Three removable, 1 1/2” mounting straps with reflective stitching
  • Tool compartment holds: 9 deep sockets, 7 combination wrenches, includes mesh pocket and flat document pocket
  • Waterproof cover in zippered compartment at base of bag
  • Four rows of MOLLE webbing for modular customization
  • SBS zippers
  • Shoulder strap included
  • Holds up to 80 - 12oz cans

Note: Tools, and cans, are not included.

Bitchin bag.
This bag rocks. I've had it on my HD for a couple of weeks. Bought it in prep for a cross country ride this spring. It easily accepts a weeks worth of clothes with room to spare for extra cold weather gear. The Molle webbing makes it incredibly versitle, I easily attached a water bladder carrier, first aid pouch and a little catch all pouch to the outside of the bag. The rain cover deploys quickly and easily. The reflective accents on all of the external straps add some safety for after dark beer runs. The tool pocket is what really turned me on to this bag in the first place. Having easy access to my tools in the event of a breakdown or a loose bolt while on the road is crucial for me. The big flap up front folds out and allows easy access to whatever variety of wrenches, sockets etc and doubles as a great little workbench. My only complaint is very minor and that is that the straps have begun to wear through the powder coat on my sissy bar. Honestly not a huge concern for me but some of you I'm sure will want to give your chick stick some protection. All in all I am very very pleased with what Biltwell has done with this bag.

This bag is no joke!
Biltwell is consistent with the quality of their gear and this bag is top quality. The exterior of the bag, the velcro closure on the top, the straps and clips are heavy duty. I was really pleased with the rain cover too. Its made of a thicker PVC like material. The tool compartment is a nice feature and I like the fold out design they went with. One thing I did not see mentioned anywhere was the zippers on the tool compartment are capable of being locked together. I really like the MOLLE webbing on the sides. It gives anyone the option to be creative when adding more carrying capacity. As far as my rating on features I wish Biltwell would have added a grippier bottom to the bag and maybe some more universal options for tool organization. I'm willing to bet most riders carry more than deep sockets and wrenches. Overall though I'm really pleased with this bag. It's well made and I think it will last many years and many adventures.

Turned my Sportster into a Grocery-Getter
This is a high-quality, durable bag that won't come loose from your sissy bar and doesn't look like it's trying too hard to be decorative. With my first use I fit a 12 pack of beer bottles in it without removing them from the cardboard box, and since then I've used to it pick up things like groceries, dog food, and 20 pound bags of ice, all without issue, always with room to spare in the bag. I haven't had the opportunity to find out how waterproof the rain cover for it is, but I've got a feeling it'll do fine. There are a lot of straps, which means a lot of strap ends that need to be banded down lest they be flapping in the wind, but the more stuff you put in the bag, the shorter the straps-ends get and the less this represents an aesthetic problem. I haven't added my toolkit to the front compartment yet, but will echo another reviewer's opinion that I'd prefer something a little more versatile inside than so many wrench-sleeves and deep socket holders, as I only typically carry a few of each.

It fits perfectly on both the front and rear sides of my "30 sissy bar, and doesn't look too bulky on a Sportster frame.

I love the bag, it hold all the tools I need and I can easily store all my books for school in it. I had a little difficulty strapping it to the sissy bar the first time. But I love being able to lean back and rest in the bag, it stays on when you ride and comes off easy when you like. It's definitely worth the money.

Great bag (with a few minor quibbles)
I bought this bag for a three week trip and it was a great choice. I ride a 2014 HD Street Bob and configured the bag to serve as a back rest. It attached securely and putting it on or taking it off is very easy. If you're taking a longer trip, I do recommend taping your sissy bar anyplace the straps will touch. I have a black sissy bar and used black electrical tape.

I was a little concerned about the seams holding up, but after three weeks of near daily use, I had no problems. The rain cover worked just fine through a couple of downpours, just remember that if you attach a lot of stuff to the bag's exterior, like a bedroll or extra helmet, the rain cover won't cover it all.

Like other reviewers, I liked the fold-out tool pocket feature. I didn't end up using it for tools, as I wanted as much weight in my saddlebags as possible. I did use the pocket to store a notebook, maps, and a few small items. And the padding on the pocket was perfect as a backrest.

A couple of relatively minor drawbacks: a carrying handle (perhaps a detachable one) would have been helpful. In the end, I just rigged one. The shoulder strap is adjustable, but slips out to full length when the back is packed. That annoyed me enough that I replaced it. a bottle holder like the one on a similar bag by Kuryaken would also have been a nice extra.

But these are relatively minor issues. I recommend this bag highly!

Broken strap
Upon purchase, it fit the bill for what I needed for a motocamping bag. Unfortunately on last day of camping trip, the center sissy bar strap ripped. Luckily I was able to use a Rox strap I had in my saddle bag.

Rating is low right now because I am waiting to here back from Biltwell regarding warranty replacement.

You just need to buy it
Bought this for strange days. First time taking my bike for a overnight anything. All I can say is this bag literally can fill it all! Was able to ge a small tent, inflatable sleeping mat, sleeping bag and pillow some clothes and some othe miscellaneous stuff. Only thing I wish was there was some zippered pockets on the inside for more organizing. But overall this bag was great. I also fabric coated it and held up to 2.5 hour ride in the rain.

Almost exactly what I wanted
Good design and quality workmanship...what I really like about this bag is how neatly it fits between rider and sissy bar, how much you can stuff into it, and it’s several useful compartments. I wish it had a few more D-rings sewn on, because I did find it necessary to use a couple extra bungi cords to lash it in place (my passenger backrest is not the tall sort this bag is ideally meant for). That said, it does have quite a number of fabric loops one can creatively use. Great bag overall...I’ll be using it quite a lot.

How can I mount a CamelBak to this?
trevor c on Mar 9, 2017
BEST ANSWER: If you have a molle compatible bag for the bladder and it's the long thin one you can attach it to either side and use the straps to secure it. Or use the tool compartment to hold it but you won't be able to use it to hold your tools. I personally use a molle bottle holder but if your set on using a camelbak, you might be better off getting a backpack that designed to hold one. Hope that helps.
