I didn't want to create a hole in my fairing to accommodate a 12V power adapter, so I chose to go with a handlebar mount, as if I want to have the option of moving it on the bar for better positioning I can, that and if I want to remove it I can also do so with ease and never having to do any drilling and leaving behind a hole on the bike to do so.

Will a GPS be able to plug straight in to this without an adapter?

BEST ANSWER: As long as the GPS plug is the normal 12V PowerPoint plug it will not require an adapter
