Unique lid with a few issues
I bought the carbon and stripes, and returned the carbon after watching a youtube video on how much hotter black helmets can be (10 degrees F or so). The carbon was noticeably lighter. I got another in blue flake for my fiance. After a month of riding in rural India, where I live, work and ride, here are a few observations:

Cons:
-Comfort: As many reviewers have pointed out, it really is weird to try on an expensive helmet (even the carbon one I bought and returned had the exact same issue) and have cheap plastic snaps digging into your forehead. They're the part of the lining that attach it to the hard foam inner. One reviewer wryly pointed out, "If your forehead has special dents in it to accommodate these metal poppers this might not be an issue." Exactly. Bizarre design flaw that could have been prevented with a little more padding on the lining, as probably every other Bell model--and every other helmet I've ever had--has.
-Fit: My Shoei GT-Air fits like a glove. As other reviewers have pointed out, this is not that plush fit you might be used to. Because there's not a lot of plush padding, if the rounder shell shape doesn't fit your head perfectly, you'll notice.
-Safety: I bought two of these helmets for my fiance and me before the Sharp safety ratings came out on the Bullitt, and wouldn't have if the ratings had come out earlier. It's of the lowest ranked Bells by Sharp (the most comprehensive safety rating system out there from the UK government, with poor side impact ratings--2 our of 5).
-Noise: Compared other helmets I've had, most recently a Shoei GT-Air, there's a lot of noise, even at speeds of just 40mph.
-Cost: Expensive for a 3-star safety rating, noisy, not all that comfortable helmet.

Pros:
-Style: Coolest looking helmet out there.
-Wide open face area: Probably doesn't help out the safety factor to have so much more of your face exposed (or covered by a thin plastic shield), but here in India where I live, work and ride, I don't bother taking my helmet off with the Bullitt to do some quick roadside shopping because I can have an easy chat with the helmet on.
-Weight: I bought a carbon that I returned which was a bit lighter than the fiberglass Stripes one I kept. Both are very light, due to the no frills and not a lot of material in the chin bar.

Form and Function
I had my sights on the Bullitt for a while but when they came out with this cream paint scheme I decided I had to pull the trigger. The paint looks fantastic. I know all the talk about this helmet is about the retro style but I really bought it for its functionality. The fact that she's so purdy is just a bonus. Riding for me is about freedom and not being confined and sticking my head in a full face bucket was in direct conflict with that. The Bullitt is for me the best compromise between the wide open feel of an open faced helmet and the added protection of a full face. It's super light and the field of view is amazing. I thought the bubble shield would be too retro for my taste and I would switch it out, but functionally, I'll have to say that I really like it. It adds to the open feel and I haven't had any problems with fogging.

On the downside, the liner rides up on my forehead when I put it on and I have to wriggle the helmet around a little to get it in place. The fit isn't perfect for my longish oval head but close enough. I have a Bell 500 that was a bit hot on my forehead but eventually broke in comfortably. The Bullitt fits better out of the box. The vents do whistle which is a shame but not a deal breaker for me since I always wear ear protection.

Yay!
This is my first helmet as I am new to riding. I had gone to a large store with a huge helmet selection and went around trying them all on. Most of them were so geared up with all of these different functions and graphics and materials. It all just felt like too much. I wanted full face but I also wanted full vision. I am not a fan of cheesy graphics especially the pink ones. Plus for the bike I wanted I imagined a simpler more retro style. Then I found the Bell Bullit. They only had size large there which felt fine but according to the Bullit size chart I was a Medium so that's what I ordered. (58 cm) I decided on the white with thin red and blue stripe at the bottom because when I am driving in my car, motorcycle riders with white helmets always catch my eye. More so than neon colors.
I ordered a flat shield but I haven't switched out the bubble shield it came with. I kind of like it. I think I look like a human Q-tip but so far people see me on the road.
When I first put the helmet on I thought it was too snug. I wore it for a while in my house to see if it would give me a headache and it did not. I still worried I might need to send it back. Now I am glad that I kept it because it feels just right.
I had read a lot of reviews that complained about the noise which I didn't notice much of. My position on the bike is very upright. So I bent over to see what it would do if I were on a different style of bike and holy wind tunnel! I can see why this helmet doesn't work for some people. Bent over the air just rushes through those top vents. Sit straight up and it's pretty quiet.
The field of vision is great. I almost wish the chin bar was bigger because you can see my stupid grin right through the shield. I kind of like the anonymous look other helmets give.
I am happy with my choice of helmet and would purchase another.

Very LOUD helmet
I love the styling on this lid! It's retro and different. Of the various color schemes for the Bullitt, this is my preferred one (obviously!) since it's understated and has a clean design. The white color has a minimal iridescence when viewed at the right lighting angle....it does not sparkle in the sun though. The retro features, helmet shape and color scheme are this lid's appeal.

With that said, comfort and wind noise are subpar compared to my other helmets (Bell Star Carbon and Shoei RF-1100). The padding is really thin so I don't get the comfortable plushness that my other helmets provide. In addition, the padding on the forehead, right above the brow, seems to slide back a little so when I pull the helmet on, I have to situate/reshuffle the helmet position so that the pad settles correctly to provide adequate padding for my forehead. The padding throughout the helmet is thin (probably by design so that the profile is lower/smaller) but I think that there's enough padding to dampen the impact should an accident happen; it's nowhere near as plush as my other two helmets.

My biggest gripe is with the wind noise. At speeds above 60mph, there is a very loud whistling noise from the four air vents on the forehead region. At low/moderate speeds (20-50mph), the noise is best described as a jet engine noise, kind of like turbines spinning up on the tarmac as planes are ready for takeoff. I strongly advise the use of earplugs if you're wearing this on the freeway.

With everything mentioned above, I'm on the fence about whether this is worth its price. If you can get it on discount and are looking for a stylish helmet to compliment your ride/outfit, then this is your helmet! If comfort and minimal noise level are important criteria, then you should look elsewhere. Since I have other helmets that I can choose, I use this for in-town riding where speeds are low and trips are short. For an urban environment, this serves its purpose well enough. For highway riding, I'll use my other helmets. (Another note about freeway riding - if you encounter bugs on your ride, bug guts/splatter in/near the top chrome vents are a chore to clean so beware!).

Sizing wise, I wear Medium on both the Bell Star and the Shoei RF-1100. I went with a Medium on this Bullitt and feel that it's consistent, in size, with my other helmets.

Comes with a bubble shield
The image shows a different type of shield than what it actually comes with. I'm not a fan of the bubble shield and now have to spend $35 on a new shield. Bogus.

Great Helmet!
Well made. Perfect fit and I love the padding. Have tried with both the bubble visor and flat, both are great. My friends are breaking my balls, I've been called Lee Majors and Johnny Quest. I don't care. Super comfortable with great airflow and visibility. Lighter than expected. I really like that the padding is removable. Nice job Bell.

Best looking helmet on the market
So i wear an L shoei and bought a large one of these after measuring my head, The large fit tight on my forehead and the cheekpads barely touched me. The helmet is shaped weird, i bought an XL also and that fits the top of my head perfectly and the cheepads are actually tighter. so the XL fits perfect.

Overall, I love this helmet because it has personality, i dont care about the cons because its just a cool helmet. But here are my honest pros/cons

Pros
The helmet looks awesome, I get random compliments all the time.
The vision is very good. You notice it when looking over your shoulder.
It is quieter than my shoei quest.
Stays on your head nice on the freeway, my shoei tends to lift up when im going around 80mph.
Leather inside is nice.

Cons
Too many ladies will talk to you while you're trying to ride or carry your helmet around.
Quality isnt very good, the helmet squeaks
Visor doesnt seal, when you look over your shoulder, a lot of wind blows into your visor and your eyes get pretty dried out after riding.

Due to the recent purchase of the Brera jacket, I will be getting laid a lot so I thought I'd buy some protection.
David R on Aug 21, 2016
This helmet is perfect. The shape and size of my head are both unremarkable so I ordered a medium, and it fits perfectly. The materials feel really high-quality, and it's very comfortable on long rides. It also looks awesome - perfect for a café racer or a vintage bike. This is my first helmet so I haven't got much to compare it to, but I can say unequivocally that I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Looks like the 80's era space shuttle helmets with the red and blue painted stripes. My bike is an intergalactic time machine so this works perfect.
Jeff G on Feb 11, 2016
It is a total rip-off of the mid 1980's space shuttle astronaut helmets. The color and stripes are exactly the same. If Bell has the balls to call this their design when it's clearly a rip-off, they have my business!

Is the bubble shield removable?
A shopper on Sep 5, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes, there are two metal screws holding the visor on, and they can be removed easily with a coin or something similar.
Are the stripes removable? like are they like vinyl stickers kind of vibe or are they integrated in the helmet?
A C on Feb 25, 2016
BEST ANSWER: No, they are not. they are integranted in the helmet's paint.
