Best sound for your Scout
If you're looking for a Scout exhaust that looks and sounds great, this is is. The 2-1 design cleans up the rear of the bike and shows off the nice contrast-cut wheels and swept brake rotor these bikes come with, but are blocked from view by the massive "shotgun" stock pipes. The "short" megaphone version extends to roughly the rear axle bolt, the "long" megaphone is somewhat fatter, and extends just shy of the tire.

On a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being stock exhaust, and 10 being a wide-open pipe (think Trask), I would rate the Short megaphone about a 7, it has an aggressive, racy sound. All meat, no "potato". However, due to the tall 6th gear on these bikes, the sound at highway cruise is not obnoxious and is barely audible over wind noise at 75.

The Scout isn't the world's easiest exhaust to change- the header flange bolts aren't super accessible(1/4" drive socket, extension and u-joint recommended), but the Bassani lined up perfect and all the heat shields snapped in with a satisfying click. However, my kit was missing the two barrel clamps that connect the header to the megaphone, and the spacers for the exhaust bracket were too small- the bolts wouldn't fit through them. Bassani did send me the clamps quickly, and said there must have been a mistake and the wrong spacers packed since this was the first case of that they'd heard of.

If you're looking for something whisper quiet that won't attract attention, this isn't for you, even in the Long version. The Short version is an aggressive sound, but stops short of the "ear bleedingly obnoxious cop magnet" sound of the Trasks. To me, it's perfect. Cages hear you next to them, it gives you a grin to wind out, but doesn't drive you crazy when you're using your cruiser to actually cruise.

If you want looks and great sound
Got these for my IndIan Scout. Installation was straight forward. Just need to have those wrenches where the head can fold. Trying to reach the rear bolt to unfasten and refasten the exhaust header can be a problem.

Overall the looks of the pipe is great. I doesn't get to close to the saddlenags to damage it. Great sound too. Got a Power Commander V and Trask air filter to match it. Was thinking of installing an Auto Tune but the pipe had 12mm bungs while the Auto Tune requires 18mm bungs. Too much hassle to take the pipe down and weld new bungs. That cost the 1 star. I wish they gave the option for a 12mm or 18mm bungs.

The Exhaust That Was Made for the new Indian Scout
When I bought my 2016 Scout I knew the exhaust would have to be changed out - fat, ugly, and wimpy sounding. I didn't think the Indian Stage One pipes were all that great either, so opted out of those as replacements. I ended up buying some X-Chopper slip-ons that I thought were okay, but too loud. So I decided to bite the bullet and go for the Bassani Two-into-One exhaust system in the long size. These are the pipes that were meant to go on the 2015+ Indian Scout. The sound is perfect. Bassy and deep, but not at all obnoxious. When cruising the highway in 6th, they fade sufficiently to allow the rider contemplation of the experience. Loud doesn't equal good. Pleasing tone and better performance equals good. The look of the single pipe is much more in keeping with all vintage historical versions of the Scout (or Chief for that matter) , and the added HP is noticeable. The bike seems to like this exhaust, and it lets you know it. All that said, I know that this kind of purchase is subjective. However, I cannot imagine anyone being unhappy with this exhaust system.

The dealer told me that this exhaust sounds and performs the best on the Indian Scout.

2-into-1 exhausts help educt exhaust gasses between cylinders, resulting in greater power. the restriction helps with low end torque-- something the scout is lacking. looking forward to slapping these on and uploading a dyno to prove it!

Great reviews and feedback from the Indian Motorcycle forum. Recommend you get a fuel management system to go with this pipe.

Lovely 2-1 system for the Indian Scout! Can you tell me if the curve of the rear exhaust pipe will interfere with access to the engine cover behind it? Wouldn't a sound byte be the BEST way to "describe" the way these alter the sound? Does this product require any other alterations on the bike?
Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: Yes it will interfere with removal of the engine cover. fortunately it does not take a long time to remove the headers. the Mufflers sound great. if you remove the baffles you can cut away some or all of the batting (we removed all of it) for different levels of sound. You will remove a bracket that the OEM muffler sits on. you will replace it with another bracket. this will leave a long bolt protruding from the side of the bike. those are the only changes. (we cut the bolt down and put the supplied crown nut on it)
Do these interfere with passenger pegs?
Kevin R on Jan 28, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This exhaust does not interfere. I have had my girlfriend on the back and she did not melt her boot like she did with the stock exhaust.
Will i need to re-flash when just installing these pipes?
A shopper on Jan 19, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I did not have to. After the install I have not had backfiring issues or loss of power. if you change the intake as well, I am sure you have to reflash though.
do you need any type of mapping with these exhaust?
Robert F on Feb 11, 2016
BEST ANSWER: NO... because you go from two pipes to one pipe you have more room.
On a scale of 1-10 how loud are they? Got to have a sound bite. I think everyone wants to hear them in order to make the purchase.
A S on Oct 17, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I have the short black ones and they definitely have a bite to them, far more than the stock exhaust. I personally love the way they sound, especially once I put on my Trask Performance intake to go with it and reflashed the ecu. I'd rate the exhaust alone at a 6-7, and with an intake like a 7-8 on the scale of loudness. People definitely know when I am coming and when I really get on the gas. When just cruising though they are not obnoxious. I would recommend them for sure. Hopefully Revzilla will do a review on them soon
I have read it both ways..... Do you or don't you reuse the oxygen sensors?
A shopper on Oct 18, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Depends. The exhaust does have bungs to re-install them. If you are using a Power Commander (which includes dongles that bypass the o2 sensor connectors), you could reinstall the sensors and just not connect them, or get 12mm plugs to block off the bungs. If you use a Power VisionCX flash tuner, you would re-use the o2 sensors.
I'm really interested in this exhaust, and this is also my first motorcycle so I lack alot of knowledge. So does this exhaust require anything like a power commander or anything like that?
A shopper on Aug 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I purchased this exhaust and used a Dobek EJK fuel controller. Easy to install and the programming is simpler to make when compared to the power commander.

Please note that you will need to bypass the o2 sensors so I just bought oil plug bolts with copper washers and installed them in the exhaust.

The bike looks, runs and sounds great with this exhaust.
Do the OEM oxygen sensors fit?
A shopper on Apr 20, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Yes they do. Everything that was needed for the swap out was included. the install took about 45 minutes and sounds awesome. the Baffles are really difficult to get out but that is due to exceptional workmanship not the opposite. I would buy these again... .
Are the baffles included or do I have to buy them separately?
A shopper on Dec 12, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Baffles are included.
I have a 2016 Indian Scout. I purchased the insulating material to line the inside of my heat shields, but still feel the heat.
With short legs, I am trying to get away from heat. doesn't a two into one exhaust pipe produce more heat?
