Airflow is excellent!
Stats: 5'10", 170 lbs., medium build, 6' wingspan. Rides: 06 Ninja 636 and 00 ZRX1100. Tried size Medium first, too small. Went with the Large, but if I were planning on using the two liners I may have went XL. I purchased this for use in the summer in Phoenix and for the first time in 17 years I'm not dreading riding after May. The outer layer fits perfectly and the airflow is awesome! My previous leather jacket with 2 intake vents and 2 exhaust vents is an oven by comparison and will likely be in the closet most of the year. This is my first textile jacket and while it definitely won't have the protection factor of leather, I do believe it would get the job done if a get-off presents itself. The freedom of movement and the airflow alone are good enough to make the swap in my less than youthful age. Also, Revzilla will be sending me the updated armor that the review video shows but was the older version when my jacket arrived. Kudos to Revzilla for making it right without any hassle.

Great A Stars Jacket
This jacket is sized correctly. I wear a 42 and this is a 42 and fits. Functions as advertised. I rode in the rain and I was completely dry. Pretty amazing. Always like Alpinestars products.

This is the new Santa Fe Drystar. Really staying with the theme that we saw a couple seasons ago with the Capetown and taking it to the next level. We dug the Capetown. It was hip length. It was waterproof. It had breathability. It had great mesh panels. The Santa Fe really stands on the shoulders and takes it to a whole other level.

We look at it, three season, warm weather. Big mesh panels on front and back, and it's really more of an adventure, touring cut. So we look at it: Light, dual sport multi-season touring. It's got that hip length to it. So again, more classic and refined style from Alpinestars. The grey/black version. There's a black version, there's also a high-vis version, as well.

Key changes, though, over its predecessor for '16 that we really like so much. There are really two key changes:

The first one is now instead of one liner that is waterproof and thermal together that you pull out, there are two. So it's now a fully-finished drop liner, which is the waterproof breathability of DryStar that you're going to get. It's a destination liner, and you have a full sleeve, 80 gram thermal separately that you can pull out. So again, you get that flexibility. I'll tell you, if you live in California, you can probably ride in this 365 days of the year.

The other key change that they have made with the Santa Fe is it leaps and it's still just over this $300 mark, it leaps into the new realm of the new style armor. This is the Alpinestars BioAir Armor. It is now CE-level 2, temp stable. It is fully aerated. It's going to be flexible, it's going to be shock absorbing at the next level, it's going to be breathable. Again, it's red, you're seeing it in their more upgraded pieces. This is one of the first to see it. And again remember, you have the Santa Fe, if you like the idea of this jacket and how it's going to perform three-season with a more, call it sport touring or adventure touring style, check out the Amuk as well, which is a very similar jacket, but it's just going to be waist-length and a bit more sport touring.

Now, moving into some of the other creature comforts if we look at it, big mesh panels, right, we've talked about that. Big mesh down the arm. It's gonna flow a ton of air, with the liners out this will keep you cool in the summertime. We look at the way it's done across the top, what I like is that you have a collar loop back up here, what I don't like is they put the male Velcro on the outside. I always like it with the male Velcro on the inside so it never has a chance to bite your neck. But again, I'm nitpicking a little bit. We look, basic pockets down along the front, talked about adjustability at the biceps, and then the sleeves are kinda basic. That's okay. I wish it was a bit more of a 'set it and forget it' but they're going to be big enough that you can cinch them over top of a gauntlet, or you can either ratchet it down underneath a gauntlet or a glove.

We look at the outside, reflectivity from Alpinestars. Basic, sublimated logos. Mesh coming all the way up towards the side. There's plenty of room to move here, so if you didn't go with the stretch panel, but you can see how it finishes. In the waist, down here, there's your hip adjustor and you move down here, you have a couple snaps down here all the way along the seat.

We look at the back, you can upgrade, nucleon back protector. KR1I or KR2I are going to take you to CE-level2, but you do have the ability to pull this foam out. Notice they give you a rabbit pouch. You have additional reflectivity. Again, no vents here on the back, you have the big, mesh panels. They're gonna flow air in and out from the front to the back, and if we look at it, nice high collar, too. More of that Adventure Touring style, and again certainly that Drystar membrane is gonna go up with the collar of your inner liner.

If we open it up, you're going to see waterproof pocket here on the napoleon side, and I believe there is a pocket on the back for a hydration system, as well. I think I glanced over that. But if we look at the inside here is your styled liner from the inside. So I'm gonna unsnap that and give you a shot. It's gonna be a destination liner. Remember, Drystar, waterproof, breathable, but it's also micro rip stop, so it's going to be durable enough. See the plastic snaps full-length together.

Inside of the jacket is gonna be mesh, you're going to have your 360-degree zip. Remember, this is gonna pair well with something like the Sonora pants and a nice high collar wicking, again, keeping you comfortable, especially if you start to get wet. Notice the rain gutter system. Double flap covering your weakness point which is going to be your zipper and when we open it up, you're going to see there is our thermal liner. Notice the nice, high collar again with that wicking. That's gonna be a snap away liner. So I have my 80 gram, thermal, full sleeve, fully removable for when it's cold. I have my waterproof, breathable, Drystar liner. Again, very basic, but destination and then I have my outer shell, which is mesh and mesh backed again that I'm going to be wearing, carrying my armor for the warmer, hotter times of the year.

Now keep in mind, check out the Amuk. If you want short-waisted, more Sport Touring. This is more Adventure Dual Sport, Multi-Season Touring. But again, three-season, hot weather with the new guys from Alpinestars.
