Needs Improvements
It took a long time to break-in these gloves. There were tight at the palm and fingers--hard to bend the fingers. The thin leather cuff tends to fold under where pulling on the gloves. They seem to provide a lot of protection. As someone who has had more than my share of falls, I learned was parts of the hands need padding or armor. Since my KTM has hand guards, there isn't as much air flowing over the gloves to provide max cooling. The light colors help reflect sunlight. The gloves also seem to wick away the swat. Some gloves are really hard to remove when the are sweat soaked.

quality glove lots of protection
This is my second pair of Alpinestars gloves and the quality is there the stitching is well done, and I like the way it looks. I am still breaking it in and it fits my hand very well. In the Alpinestars I took a large, the size chart was correct. I certainly would by another pair of these if I need to.

AlpineStars GPX Gloves
I found these gloves to be comfortable without any break in, They give much more protection than my old tour master summer gloves & not as hot as my full gauntlet gloves. The heat/humidity in Florida this year is horrible & these gloves are a good compromise for the weather. Wish they had a touchscreen finger pad though.

Most protective features for the money
Purchased my second pair recently. Great gloves, soft leather and decent airflow for all year long riding (in AZ). They offer great protection but the only issue is the leather cracking around the thumb area.

Coming apart at 100 miles
Like several of the other people on here I received gloves lacking in quality. These gloves are earning their one start due to the stiching on the index finger failing in less than a week of riding and 100 miles.

Hopefully Alpinestars warranty support is better than the initial quality of these gloves.

On the plus side the gloves fit perfectly and were super comfortable .

Looks, fits and feels great for almost 3 months
I've done just under 1,500 miles wearing these gloves and now they are fancy chew toys for my dogs.

The seem down my thumb muscle(abductor+flexor pollicis brevis) tore wide open. This turned the tiny gap between the velcro and the base of my thumb into an almost 3 inch long opening.

That seem was quickly followed by the right inside side of my left hand middle finger becoming completely exposed.

Initially, the large size (exact spec from size chart) were a little tight, but after a few hours and a little sweat they fit perfectly. I'm positive another size larger would have left even larger air pockets in the tips of my fingers and a medium would never have got on my hand.

It's a shame. It really is. These are great gloves. I really loved how they looked and felt. It's too bad the stitching Alpinestars decided to use deems these gloves (at least my pair) completely useless.

Good to have the palm slider, Seams fall apart
These gloves are a great short cuff glove and are notable since they have the small palm slider. Unfortunately multiple seams on the fingers busted within one year of ownership. I would sew them back up myself only to have the next finger bust seams. I am convinced Alpinestars build quality has dropped. I will likely be moving to other brands for gloves in the future.

I would not recommend you buy these based on the seam durability.

Great Glove!
Bang for your buck-5 Stars. I just bought these on sale ($103). They run true on size, not small like normal with Alpinestars. The hard part slider on the palm, big “wrist bone” pad, and finger bridge are the bigges safety features in this glove that I love. A must have on any glove you buy in my opinion. They did it all on this, without making it a true 3/4 glove. I haven’t Had the chance to use them yet, but I am already breaking them in. I love the styling and this is what a true Alpinestars glove should look like!

Quality gloves
The fit is snug at first took a few rides to break them in to my hands. So far I have no complaints with the gloves. Not a lot of perforations so not a whole lot of airflow but I haven't been uncomfortable in the south Mississippi summer. The stitching has held up great and have had no workmanship quality issues. I would recommend these gloves for anyone looking for a shortcuff leather glove with some protection.

A proven design that's been around for a while with good reason
I bought these as one pair of five sets of gloves I ordered from Revzilla at the same time. Being miles from a store, I wanted to be able to contrast and compare before selecting the ones that suited me best.

I just threw away my previous pair of Astars gloves after they disintegrated (without being in an accident), after only a couple of thousand miles of riding. The fabric covering the finger pads just dissolved and would never have provided any noticeable degree of protection in the event of an accident.

Despite that, I decided to try two more pairs to replace them, as well as models from JoeRocket, Scorpion, and Dainese.

I first tried JoeRocket's SuperMoto gloves, at half the price of both Astars gloves. These didn't have anywhere near the same degree of protection I felt with the all leather Alpinestars gloves. They felt light and didn't give me much confidence as to how they would protect me in the event of a high speed get-off. The fit wasn't bad as they use neoprene and other stretchy materials in the build. I can't help but think that might help with airflow in the summer, but there is no substitute for thick leather in the event of kissing the road at over 50mph.
Given that I wasn't shopping on a tight budget I decided to return these.

Whilst the Alpinestars Celer gloves were much better built than my previous pair, with full leather coverage over both the palms and the length of the underside of the fingers, I found these noticeably smaller than the comparable GPX I ended up choosing (same price as the Celer, added scaphoid protection) and my old ones (all were size medium). Whilst I can't comment on variations in sizes in the same production run, this was the biggest factor that turned me off the Celer. I like the scaphoid 'wing' on the GPX, especially the way it slips over the outside of the jacket cuff whilst the wrist of the glove can still slide inside the jacket. Both the GPX and the Celer both had some ventilation built in and shouldn't be too bad in a New York summer, the GPX fitted the ATGATT paradigm and fitted me best.

The Scorpion Klaw II gloves I tried were half the price of both Astars pairs I tried, but felt like they provided half the quality. They felt like a lesser product, weren't much looser around the fingers, and felt like the difference between wearing an off the peg suit and a tailored one. In other words, they didn't fit like the proverbial glove. These were also a medium.

As for the Dainese 4 Stroke EVO gloves that were twice the price of the Astars and four times the price of the others, well they were taking too long to show up and I ended up canceling them off the order following my try-ons of the other four pairs. A shame really, as I would have liked to compare a top tier glove with both pairs of Astars.

SUMMARY:
Given that my budget allowed it, I felt It was a no-brainer for me to go with the Astars GPX. They looked great, feel well made, and I saved thirty bucks off retail by shopping with Revzilla, which was the icing on the cake. Hopefully I won't need to report back as to how these shape up in a crash. If I do, I will update this review.

Is there a difference between the GPX and Celer in terms of build quality, comfort or protection?
I'm really hesitating between the GPX and Celer gloves, the only difference I see is a few bucks.
A C on Feb 8, 2016
BEST ANSWER: If you look at the protection, the GPX has more protection. It has the half cuff thing on the side, as well as the sliders on the outside of the palm and pinky finger. There are some other differences as well. If you want max protection in a short cuff, go for the GPX. If you don't ride that aggressively and just want medium protection, the Celer will be more comfortable and prob a bit cooler on hot days while giving you some basic to intermediate protection. It will also be more comfortable.
They seem really tight even though I measured and used the size chart. Does this glove get larger when it breaks in or should I exchange for a size up?
Morgen H on Jan 2, 2018
BEST ANSWER: They are leather gloves. They will break-in after wearing them a few times. You should stay with your normal size.
Is this glove street or dirt?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2013
BEST ANSWER: This is a street glove. If I were you I would get this one for the most protection you can get without buying a full gauntlet.
Does the GPX model have the touch tech feature for cell phone use?
A shopper on Jun 2, 2015
BEST ANSWER: It generally isn't but occasionally I've gotten response on my cell phone but its not always true response. The Celer gloves have a better touch screen capability.
I'm about to get these, but I want to get the sizing right. I was able to wear the celer gloves in my local shop and was a XXL, should I stick with XXL or go down a size? I ask b/c the reviews on the celer gloves say they run small.
A shopper on May 6, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I really like the gloves, they are excellent for 55 degrees and up. They do run small, I typically wear XL in Alpinestars gloves and these in XL were initially a little tight. After a few long rides the leather stretched and are much more comfortable now. The added protection on the wrist area is a nice touch for a short glove.
Is this glove best fit under or over your jacket? I have an aspide jacket which is pretty tight around the wrist.
B K on Mar 23, 2014
BEST ANSWER: it fits under your jacket. i tried fitting it outside, its short, after you move around maybe half of it will go back in leaving the other half stuck outside. quite uncomfortable that way.
and the only closure velcro doesnt "feel" as safe around the outside.
i just leave the padding part(with logo) outside of the jacket. it feels perfect that way. very comfortable! and tons of airflow during summer.
if your jacket is very tight around the wrist, the only thing is you'll have to tuck in the velcro when you put it on(only takes 1 finger and about 2 seconds to do so), not like the full gloves you can just slap it on and go.
Can't decide between this and the sp-x. Mainly commute to and from school, so how big of a difference is the air flow between the two?
Thomas O on Dec 20, 2013
BEST ANSWER: I don't know anything about the sp-x.. But I can tell you that the gpx flows great air n has good protection where it's needed. . The air flow so good that my hands hardly sweat at all..
How is the fit on these gloves? im 6 feet tall and weigh 160 lbs,my hand measurement was 3 5/8", but i have heard that these gloves fit rather small and I should order one size up, is this true?

Thanks
A shopper on Feb 21, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I am 5'7" and weight 185. I have average hands. Not small or big just average in my opinion. I owned two leather alpine gloves and after the break in period the medium was perfect for me. So when I order the gpx I stuck with medium. My hand measures 3 1/2". If you have fat fingers or long ones maybe a large would be better. If you have a motorcycle store around your city, they usually carry some alpine gloves and you can go and try different sizes before ordering. I recommen the gpx awesome gloves and very comfortable.
Is this glove good in spring and fall riding in canada? where the temperatures touch the near o°C/32°f at the beginning and ending of the riding season?
A shopper on Aug 29, 2015
BEST ANSWER: I use these gloves in late spring and all summer into the middle of the fall.I live in New York and I commute most everyday from Queens to Manhattan 30 miles round trip. The GPX's flow alot of airand keep my hands comfortable. They still sweat, but not as much as with gauntlets.I personally would wear them down to a temperature in the high 40's-low 50 degree F range.BTW I bought two pairs ,black/white and red/white/blue.They look good and match all my riding gear!
Does this gloves has smart touch?
Janyel B on Jul 21, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Nope definitely won't work on your phone
