Crash tested and still used for daily commute
I got these gloves right in the end of fall and I still use them now coming close to summer. The reason is because after getting hit by a pick up truck at 50mph on the freeway and doing a flip (along with my bike); followed by me landing on my palm as I did the fastest cartwheel of my life... my hands "looked" perfectly fine. Given, I had a pretty severe sprain on my wrist, everything else about my hands were fine. I recovered from my sprain after just a few days. Had I not had the gloves, I would be looking at road rash, possible down to muscle due to the velocity I crashed at. And that I would most likely have bone damage as well since I was flipping and landing on my palm first (all 170lbs of me also going at 50mph). But because of the sturdy padding, I really made it out without nary a scratch (wish I could say the same about my bike...). The only damage to the glove was a slight rubbing out of the palm area (not enough for me to even purchase another pair as I'm still wearing it everyday).

Anyways, besides the obvious protective qualities that I can confirm first-hand. The comfort of the glove is what drove me to get it in the first place. It's a short cuff so I got that due to its ease to put on and take off for my commute. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area so it's rideable all year but it does get down to around 40 degrees, give or take 5 in the coldest part of winter. During that super cold time, I still had to use liners or after 30 minutes on the bike, I can barely feel my fingers. Once temps hit around 50, then the glove is actually perfect. Now that the temps can get around 70, I'm about to retire these gloves for the summer but I can still wear them relatively comfortably with just a slight tinge of sweatiness after a long session of riding and waiting on red lights.

The glove is advertised as water proof, but I'd have to say it's not 100% waterproof. I went through several bouts of severe rainstorms and I still had damp hands but it really wasn't that bad at all. Honestly, if you're getting a short cuff, you know you're sacrificing full waterproofing anyways.

Case in point, get these gloves. I cared enough about these gloves that I wrote an essay for it. I think that proves how much I care about the quality of this product.

Great Glove but liner needed.
After my last waterproof glove which I loved (Patrol) ripped, I bought these gloves. Number 1 they look and feel great on my hands. Number 2 they also feel better on the throttle than my last gloves. Number 3 the only thing is that if the temperature is below 39 degrees F, your fingers will freeze. But with my thin glove liners that problem is nullified.

They are fully waterproof though and I really like them. Finally the thumb visor wipe is not too bad, my trick so you don't block your entire view is to make a thumbs up gesture and wipe (Its also seen as being friendly to cars haha).

Excellent wet/cold weather gloves
These are excellent wet and cold weather gloves. I usually ride with mesh textile gloves because of warm weather. However, on the freeway in cooler weather, I much prefer to have these gloves with limited airflow. They are good in rain as well. They aren't the warmest gloves ever due to thin insulation, but can be combined with a glove liner. Somewhat bulky, but that is to be expected with this type of glove. Look like they would fair well in a crash. They run on the small size.

Stylish Protection
These gloves have not been put to cold weather testing yet, but I have ridden in some heat, and I must say the ventilation is next to none on hot days. My hands would get sweaty, but not uncomfortable sweaty. When it is windy outside, I find the gloven more in their element. I can see these gloves being my morning commute gloves and having something with more ventilation for the afternoon/evening. All in all I'm happy.

Good gloves not for COLD morning rides.
This glove are good for morning rides but not in COLD morning rides. My fingers are freezing cold i have to put my hands in the warm engine. I haven't tried to put a liner inside for good measure, maybe that will help. But the afternoon rides are OK.

My new favorite gloves
I have to preface this by saying I usually prefer thinner, lighter, less protective gloves, much like Dainese's cheaper line.. and with that being said, these feel extremely tight and bulky yet somehow very comfortable. I struggled a bit to get them on at first being so tight, but they fit perfectly in the fingerstips, palm, and thumbs. No irritating stiching or excess material on the inside (like Dainese's newer gloves) or any distracting annoyances. I didn't get them for cold or wet weather but I see how they could definitely protect against the elements better than other gloves, even if not being 100% water proof. Also protect the hands better in a slide, flying rocks/bugs, or just punching stuff. EXTREMELY protective.

They do however loose that tactile feel and sensitivity when compared to thinner leather/suede materials, and they can be a bit harder to control a sensitive throttle, also a bit stiff at times.. this was the case for me with many other heavy duty leather/similar style gloves though. The style is really what drew me in and seems quite different for Alpinestars. The subtle logos/branding and clean matte black look is so much more respectable and aesthetically pleasing compared to their old flashy style. If only they could make this exact glove fit and style but with thinner, more flexible material for light summer riding..

I was looking for a good waterproof glove that was easy to put on with my rain gear and the Corozal caught my eye. I have been impressed with the few times I have used them as the liner does not bunch up when your hands are damp.

How long does the touch screen feature last?
A shopper on Nov 17, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Technically, it is permanent and should last as long as the glove.

Practically, your mileage may vary depending on how you treat the glove, particularly related to cleaning. NEVER machine wash a glove (this obvious for leather, but not so much for textile). As long as you treat your glove decently, you shouldn't see the touchscreen feature cease to work. Some loss of performance may be seen with time, but I've never found this to be a serious issue. Alpinestars does not use the same touchscreen compatible material in all gloves so there isn't a general rule, but regardless it isn't something worth being concerned about.
The lining is getting sticky right at the tips of my fingers, is this expected? If not, what can I do to un-sticky the fingertips?
Paymahn M on Jul 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: The sticky part of for touch screen. Don't believe it's removable except by wear
Would these gloves be suitable for tropical weather? That is, hot and humid (low 70 to low 80s), with a probable chance of rain? There don't seem to be many options inside of the "short cuff, waterproof, summer weather
" category of gloves, although this one looks like it could work.
Marco V on Aug 3, 2016
BEST ANSWER: At this point, I'll answer myself since I purchased them. They are suitable but not ideal. They do have light insulation, so they can get hot and sweaty if it isn't below 80 degrees. They are certainly bearable, and even comfortable in the 70-80's range, but if anyone is interested in these gloves for use in tropical weather, I'd recommend the Alpinestars Rage Drystar gloves which don't seem to have any insulation at all, but do have a waterproof, breathable Drystar membrane.
If take a small in the Dainese Air Tex gloves which fit me perfectly. What size would you recommend i take in these?
Ivan A on May 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I don't own any Dainese products but I do know that Alpinestars run small. I normally go XL but went L for this glove. Hope this helps!
