Alpinestars Corozal Drystar Boots

Drawing from their extensive off and on road boot experience, the Alpinestars Corozal Drystar Boots are everything an ADV rider needs or could want. The mid height design is less encumbering than a full off-road or motocross boot, and the vulcanized rubber compound rubber sole provides excellent grip while allowing riders to actually walk around off the bike without doing the robot.

Burly off-road inspired protective features include a TPU shin plate and ankle protectors, reinforced heel counter and toe box, as well as Alpinestars' bio-mechanical lateral flexi-blade system. To top things off Alpinestars has added a Drystar membrane to keep out water in whatever form it takes. The rugged yet refined Corozal Boots are ready for pretty much anything.

Features:

  • Upper constructed from PU coated leather plus higher medial panel suede leather for superior grip
  • Front and rear bellow made with lightweight microfiber for more durability and abrasion resistance
  • Rear reflective insert for improved visibility
  • Extended PU coated leather gaiter helps seal out excessive water and dirt entry; rear gaiter includes rubber insert for flexibility and comfort
  • TPU shin plate and calf plate offer support and resistance for impacts
  • Bio-mechanical lateral flexi-blade system provides excellent front and rear movement while offering support and protection to the ankle
  • TPU shift pad made with technical texture for added grip plus foam padding on underneath for better comfort
  • Wide entry aperture for convenience with VELCRO® brand upper closure flap to allow broad ranging calf fit adjustment
  • TPU double density ankles protector on medial side for protection
  • Closure system includes 2 polymer buckles with an innovative closure system. This closure includes a ratchet with memory and a quick release/locking system with self-aligning design for easy, precise closure; the buckles are replaceable.
  • Soft foam surrounding the ankles and collar offer comfort and shock absorbing performance
  • Drystar membrane layer between upper and lining for proven performance in difficult weather conditions
  • Toe box and heel counter reinforcement layered under the upper
  • PP insole with steel shank co-injected for excellent feel and safety
  • Alpinestars exclusive vulcanized rubber compound sole for optimal combination of comfort and grip
  • Replaceable anatomical EVA footbed with Lycra lining on top
  • CE certified to EN 13634:2010

Fix for the click!
I was a little hesitant to purchase these boots due to the many complaints of the clicking while walking. I decided to pull the trigger figuring I could probably eliminate the noise and, if I could not I would be able to live with it. Well the fix is so simple I can't believe no one has figured it out or posted it. I simply sprayed a little WD40 Specialist Dry Lube (PFTE in an evaporating carrier) on the plastic joint. Wait until dry and voila! Clicking is gone.

These boots appear to be very well made and so far have kept my feet completely dry while crossing a lot of water crossings and puddles. I have not worn them in the rain yet but I expect they will be fine.

Fit is a tad on the small size. I usually wear a 9 1/2 but since they only come in whole sizes I ordered a 10.They fit fine and I wouldn't want them any smaller. Another thing to note is they are pretty thick top to bottom across the toe area. I had to reposition my shifter up a spline so I could get my foot under it. No big deal but something to be aware of.

Great boots, clicking is annoying but easily fixed
Was looking for something would offer more protection for my off-roading adventures compared to some older Alpinestars Goretex road boots I had, and this looked to fit the bill. I typically wear a size 9.5 Wide and the size 10 Corozal fit well. Lots of cushion in the boot, which is nice if you do have a slightly wider foot. Also, still room for nice wool socks for colder weather. They can fit either under the pant (RevIt Airwave 2 Medium) or over for off-road attire. They are somewhat stiff in the ankle, a good compromise for off-road protection and walking/long distance riding comfort. I have yet to get a wet foot when riding in rain or through puddles, so the Drystar seems to work well. Breathability is decent for hot weather (I'd still recommend wearing lightweight wool socks in this case).

Like the others, mine had the clicking sound, which make you look like a moron when walking around to going into work. I tried the dry-lube that another reviewer mentioned, and that helped a bit but it would always come back, usually at the worst time. So I looked into it better and found a way to eliminate it for good. See here for my fix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XqxziW0IRQA. Go easy on the amount you take off to start with to preserve some ankle flexion protection.

Excellent*
Pros: Absolutely great fit, snug but not constricting in the Florida heat
I have little doubt these boots would keep my foot intact in the event I fell or slid
Waterproof even in a tropical storm I rode in
I can tuck my jeans/riding pants into these boots or tuck these under the pants no problem
Comfortable to stand in for hours on end or ride for those same hours
I expect I'll wear these boots 2 years and 20000 miles from now.
Cons: They make annoying as all heck clicking/popping sound when I walk
They're stiff as all heck, your ankle will bend just a little and one way only
Stairs are a challenge in these
Heavy and a bit warm off the bike

EXCELLENT BOOTS!
Don´t look for other boots, these are the ones!.
Excellent comfort, brake in at the first ride.
I wear 8,5 in normal shoes, I bought 9 and fit perfect.
I ride in the tropic and my feet keeps fresh wearing the Alpinestars Tech Coolmax Socks.
Excellent price for the value, no doubt.
Yes, they sound when you are walking, but they are for ride on the bike, so a minor detail for me.

Great Dual Sport B0ot
I had a pair of Sidi Chargers, but I never wore them because they were overkill for dual sport riding. I picked up a pair of the Corozals, and I could not be happier. I wear a size 14 in Asics, Merrells, and most other shoes, and the EU48/US13 fits great. I also tried the EU47/US12, but my left foot toes just barely hit the front of the boot when pushing my foot forward in the boot. I decided to stick with the larger 48/13 and get a pair of higher volume insoles to get a slightly tighter fit. I plan on using these boots for commuting, street and dual sport riding. I looked into the Gaerne Balance Oil, Forma Adventure, and Sidi DIscovery. I decided on the Corozals after watching the Revzilla video and doing a lot of forum reading. The Gaerne Balance Oil seem to be hit or miss with waterproofness, the Forma Adventures have a HUGE toe box, and I've owned various Sidi boots; and while they are great, they are very narrow. I have an average size foot width, and the Corozals fit great. They are definitely not as protective as motocross boots, but for my use, they should be perfect. I purchased these boots on a Tuesday and received them Thursday...thanks Revzilla.

I have a somewhat narrow foot and these are the best fitting boots I have owned. Quality of construction seems excellent. I can’t speak to the waterproof level; rode in light rain and all was great but this was not a real test. The boots have an annoying click when walking but are so comfortable that I can ignore that since they don’t click when riding. I ride fire roads and non-agressive trails; these seem to provide more than adequate protection for that.

Dry, warm, all day comfort, stylish
I wore them for a Saddle Sore 1000 and a Bun Burner 1500 without an issue. Did 250 miles of driving rain at 75 mph and no problems or leaks. I wear them on my commute 50 miles in, and 50 miles back out... they perform great. You can wear them for walking around if you want as they aren't as stiff as ski boots.

Nice boots. Well made.
Pro's;

* Well Made
*Bang for the buck
*Comfort

Cons:
*No Ventilation with the drystar membrane.

I haven't had a chance to test how water proof they are. I'll find out quick this winter when the rain starts.

Also, I bought these a half size up from my normal size as my feet swell when standing for extended periods. These fit the bill in this department. A little loose to start out with and then they fit perfect when I am riding the bike on the trail.

Perfect for dual sport
I hesitated for months torn between the scouts and a TCX boot. My other Alpinestars are so comfortable I wanted more of that. When I saw these advertised on Revzilla, I had to have them. Too bad they didn't have half-sizes. 11.5 would have been perfect. That said, there's plenty of adjustment and padding inside so there's no disappointment in the comfort department. To my knowledge, there does not exist a waterproof dual-sport boot with air flow. They're going to make noise breaking them in "pop pop, pop pop, as you walk. I hope that ends soon as its a little annoying but a small price for such a great boot. Love the soles and they seem plenty tough for anything short of full-on hard-core off-road riding. No review on the waterproof part yet. I like 'em.

Initial review for this great boot.
I ride a 2011 Ninja 650R (40K miles strong) and I know these boots might be considered over the top but, after the disaster that was my last pair of waterproof boots(Reign), I wanted get a new boot that would be beyond durable for my my daily commute and actually be waterproof. First up these boots are monsters! They vastly tower over my tallest non riding boots (I nicked named them Monster Stompers). Secondly, they are comfortable, the instant I put my foot in and buckled them up, it was a dream to just walk around. Thirdly, I do have to adjust my shifting style but, I'm sure as they break in they will loosen up and slip in easier between the peg and shiftier. I have only had them a few days and they just missed the rain we had out here (Bay Area) so I haven't had the chance to see how waterproof they actually are; but judging by the overwhelming quality of the boot, I'm sure I will no longer have to wrap plastic bags around my sock when I ride in the rain.

protection, quality, fit, and function. Really an excellent choice for me --- I'm equally a commuter and day-tripper in a place with very mixed road conditions and always crazy driving scenarios (asia). This is a great level of protection while still also a legit off-bike boot.

Needed some better protection than hiking boots for dual sport riding. These come pretty highly recommended pretty much everywhere. Figured thy offer solid protection without being overkill for dual sport riding.

I wanted something with good protection that I can walk around in and would fit under my pants. These will fill the gap between my tennis shoes (which I regularly wear for around town riding) and my MX boots (Gaerne SG10) which I'll keep for any hardcore riding (which I don't do very much of).

I wear a size 8.5. These only come in 8 or 9, which size should I go with?
Adam W on Mar 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: 9.
The size chart on this boot seems a little non-standard. US 9 maps to EU 43, and US 10 maps to EU 44.5. I have a pair of A* EU 43 touring boots that fit perfectly, but I wear a size 10 dress shoe size. Seems like my feet would be swimming in a true EU 44.5. Would the A* 43 fit like other A* 43s? Which size should I try first?
Randall M on Mar 10, 2016
BEST ANSWER: I have a pair of A* Roam 2 boots in 43 and a pair of Corozals in 43 as well. The Roam2 is much roomier and wider than the Corozal. I wear a size 9w to 9/12. I think the 43 may be too small for you.
Hi.. I ride a BMW K1200S. So, I'm an sport touring rider. My question..... Do you recommend this kind of boots for this kind of motorcycle..??

BEST ANSWER: If you want better style, protection, and adjustability, go with the Corozal boots. But if for some reason you can't change into another pair of shoes at the office, you may want to consider the Web boots. The Corozal's are hefty and standard or bootcut jeans won't fit over the boot. I mainly use these for touring (with Scorpion Yukon pants over the boots) or sport riding (with Scorpion Ravin pants inside the boots) on my Multistrada.
