Alpinestars Belize Drystar Boots

The perfect hybrid between an enduro boot and a hiking boot, the Alpinestars Belize Boots strike a precise balance between moto protection and walking flexibility that speaks to the specific needs of the modern adventure touring and dual sport rider. The mid-calf design brings the shaft up just high enough to offer ample shin and calf protection via ergonomic TPU plates and to adequately brace the ankle for the biomechanical flexi-blade ankle hinge system. The Alpinestars Belize Drystar Boots have the protection you need for recreational off road riding without the bulk or discomfort of aggressive, competition-oriented moto boots.

What I was looking for
Tired a few boots in this style and the other two while the fit was good had no ankle movement or flex which for me made it both impossible to shift and difficult at stops. The Belize was what I was looking for. I wear a 10.5 3E in regular shoes/boots. I ordered the 11 in the Belize and length is a little longer than another 11 I have but not to bad. Also I was pleasantly surprised that the width while not 3e is at least an e which in this was just fine. The best part is the forward and backward ankle movement. I can shit and have no problems at stops.. Been wearing them for a week and they have already started breaking in improving everything. Quality seems really good as well. If I had a negative it would be the buckles for some reason were designed so they open the opposite direction from each other I use them primarily for daily commute and weekend fun rides.. No off road. Overall I am happy with them and look forward to many many miles.. Be safe out there.

Love these boots, great protection without breaking the bank
Having had Tourmaster Solution 2.0 WP, I was looking for something with a lot more protection without breaking the bank. Budget touring boots are simply too soft. I found the typical track and touring boots (below $500) just didn't seem to have the level of protection I was looking for including the SMX Plus. I realized that I had to go with an adventure boot to get what I was looking for. I even tried Sidi but no matter what I tried, they never felt comfortable. I love the fit of AlpineStars.

Most adventure boots are huge and ungainly for commuting and recreational riding and I want to be able to pull my pants overtop of the boot. These Belize boots are perfect. They offer a level of protection that the typical touring and track boots cannot, while being low enough to ride underneath the pant cuff. I had to adjust my shifter to accommodate a stiffer and thicker boot, but after that, I found the sweet spot and shifting is a breeze. Nearly every boot, besides the Toucan, has areas of unreinforced leather but the leather on the Belize is thick and sturdy, not too soft and supple. I found the boots ran a bit large and ended up with a 9 for my 9.5-10 foot.

Excellent Tough & Stylish Boot
I've had these boots for about a month and feel they are very solid, plus they look great in oiled leather! The height is excellent and although fairly heavy boots, it's comfortable to walk in them too. Still breaking them in and can't speak to the waterproof aspect yet, but wet weather is coming and I have confidence they will work well. Great bang for the buck.

excellence all around
Just back from a 1,200 mile trip including through a flood.
Boots are comfortable, very protective, totally waterproof even riding through 6 inches of water (had rain pants covering the upper boot). warm in cool weather and surprisingly not so hot in summer. Part of my ride was 300 hundred mile day in 95 degree heat. If keep top of boot a little loose air will get down and cool your feet. Great value, perfect for adventure rides and have even walked more than 1/2 mile in the woods with them.
The American sizing is off a solid 1/2 size. I wear 8 1/2 and sometimes 9 and the size 8 fit well. European sizes on lable seem accurate.

It took a little while to break these boots in , still in the process. They wear like a pair of work boots. I even have been wearing them out to dinner . A little hard to get under the gear shifter on my CB 500x but as they get softer, it get better. My only problem was choosing between black or brown.

Glad i had them
These are my first pair of riding boots, and i am very happy with them. First i want to clarify the low air flow rating i gave them. Technically there is no airlow, i mean they wouldn't be very water proof if they had lots of airflow. Duh. That said, I live in Texas and even when the temperature is in the triple digits my feet are pretty comfortable, so long as i'm also wearing wicking socks. Even after riding for 3 or 4 hours. If you were cotton socks that soak up sweat and it's over 90, then yeah it does get a bit ripe and uncomfortable in there.
And speaking of water proof, I recently did a 4 day ride in the mountains around Gifu and Nagano and I got all the basis as far as weather goes. One day I did 5 hours in constant wetness ranging from rain so hard i almost had to just pull over to simple spray from traffic. I did have on full riding pants with the rain liner over the boots. But my feet stayed nice and comfy the entire time. That same day the temperatures ranged from the upper 80's at the bottom of the mountains, to the mid 50's when i got up around 6000 feet. Again, perfectly comfy feet.
I've had them for not quite a year now I guess and they look almost exactly like they did when i bought them.
There are a couple of ... hmmm, let's go with "less than perfect" things to be aware of about them. First, they are very stiff when new. But given that they are supposed to protect your feet and ankles, that's a good thing. It took me about 4 months to get them broken in and somewhat flexible. But i really only ride for about 4 hours every other weekend or so. My 10 minute commute to work doesn't really count. Second, they are pretty big over your toes. Like Frankenstein shoe big. I had to adjust the shifter on my R1200R a few notches to accommodate them. And in Japan i rode a Yamaha MT-07 (FZ-07 here in the states) and we had to adjust the shifter to the widest it would go and that just barely fit. In fact i don't think the shifter was over the boot so much as just pressed up against the upper portion. But it worked just fine.
Lastly, I have short but wide feet, size 8E in shoes normally, so i ended up with a size 9 in these boots to accommodate my feet width. None of these things are deal killers for me and i would buy these again in a heartbeat.

ANNNNNNNNTHONY'S REVIEW YO YO YO
THIS IS MY REVIEW :)
Let me begin with I have not ridden with these yet so this is just a review of the product out of the box and fitment.
The fit of these run about 1/2 large length wise (i.e. the 13 I ordered have a little bit of room length wise, I would call them a 13.5) Width wise these are what I would call standard fit for a boot, so slightly wider than a standard tennis shoe fit. For reference I bought these after ordering a pair of Forma Adventure Low boots that had to be returned due to ridiculous sizing issue. The Forma's fit are beyond strange. The only way I see the Forma's fitting anyone would be if they have on 4 pairs of socks, or your foot has the same width as length (I am serious about this, I have never seen something so ill fitting). Quality wise I am very happy as the construction of the Belize looks to be quite nice, easily on par with the Forma boots. I know some people have mentioned not liking the way the two ratchet mechanisms oppose each other (one buckles left the other buckles right) but I don't see the issue with this at all. Also worth mentioning the Belize have a better/larger more secure velcro closure setup than the Formas. The Belize also flex more naturally than the Forma Adventure low boots. My only gripe is the inner waterproof flap could have easily been run all the way up near top of the boot but Astar only ran it up partway,

Great boots, fit is a little large
I had the Alpinestars SMX before these, and I kept hearing about SIDI and TCX from friends, so I picked up a few pairs of those first, but in the end they just didn't fit my feet well, and ended up being returned.

I haven't used these yet, but the fit is great, and as such I have rated them highly, considering the SMX's they are replacing held up extremely well, and I expect these will as well based on the other reviews here.

I crash tested the SMX's, and they did a great job protecting my feet, and they are less beefy than these.

With the Belize boots I got a 7, well with shoes I wear a 8 or 8 1/2, so I'd say they run a little large.

Point is they fit, and at the end of the day there's no getting around that requirement.

Wish they had 1/2 sizes
I am normally 11 1/2 wide and chose to order the 12's. A little loose in the toe box, but the adjustable straps make the fit OK. It is a stiff boot, requiring a modification to working the controls. They seem to have broken in or I lo longer have to think about my shifting.

It is comfortable and gives me greater protection than my prior touring boot.

Great Boots, As Long as you don't have a Sportbike
Overall these boots are fantastic, they look great both on and off the bike (I have the oiled leather boots). I have a 2015 CBR500R and my biggest complaint is how hard it is to shift from 1-N-2 due to how think the toe is. Also, if the temperature is over 60 degrees and you plan on wearing your boots for more than 4 hours at a time these will get extremely hot, but that is to be expected with waterproof boots.

Overall, if you have a cruiser or a fairly large gap between your pegs and shift lever these boots are perfect, especially for the price.
