Modular helmet wearers, rejoice! The AGV Sport Modular Carbon Helmet is here and ready to lay down those miles with you. Stylish but feels poorly built, very loud, and laughably overpriced
This helmet is vastly overpriced for what it is. It feels like a helmet worth half of its MSRP if that. To begin with, yes the helmet is very light but that’s because there is nothing to it, there is very little inside of it. The helmet is very loud even with all of the vents closed it leaks a lot of air and especially into the face. Even with the face shield and chin vent closed my face was freezing and it still fogged up even with the Pinlock inserted. The one-piece neckroll is very annoying because the bottom keeps wanting to pop out and it doesn’t look like it will tuck in properly. The face shield lock is unnecessary and difficult to open with one gloved hand. The chinstrap doesn’t dig into my neck like reviews have said but the strap itself feels cheap. The face shield does have a wide field of view but when I have to open it slightly to keep it from fogging up I then have a gun-sight looking thing hanging from the bottom of the face shield and obstructing my view. This helmet does not play well with glasses, fitting them into the helmet is difficult and unlike other modulars I am unable to put this helmet on or take it off without first removing my glasses. For the money I expected better build quality in places. HJC and Scorpion sell Made in China modulars just like this helmet for a third of the price that have better quality and design for just a trade off in a little bit more weight. I think AGV/Dainese is trying to sell a $300 helmet for $800 here, your money is better spent of other options.

Chin Strapr is a Deal Breaker
Want to love this helmet so bad because literally everything is great except the chin strap. I'm stuck with it at this point but am super upset I purchased it without the ability to return it. I did not buy on Revzilla but elsewhere. Big mistake. It is light and quiet with great vision. Love modular helmets as its hot in Texas where I ride. Will plan to purchase another as soon as they fix the chin strap. This one will become my passenger helmet I guess...

Loud and proud
This helmet is a good piece of design, but is seriously lacking in comfort and intuitive usability. Of the 6 helmets I own by various manufacturers, it is without a question, the loudest helmet I have ever worn. It is louder than riding without a helmet!
It is comedic to compare this to the Schuberth C3 Pro, which categorically destroys this helmet.
Very disappointed in this exorbitant purchase, and the misleading info of it being "slightly louder" than comparative helmets.

Great helmet w/ not so great d-rings
Helmet is almost perfect. The d-rings and chin strap need tweaking. I've yet been able to thread the chin strap through on one try. I wish I could swap my corsair x chin strap and d-rings onto this helmet. The rings are too small, and the chin strap snap gets caught when you try to loop it back through.

Not sure it was worth the money- italian company made in China!.?
I see very little extra airflow like a bunch of reviews said. My headset wiring is difficult to work into helmet. I am overall less than positive on this expensive helmet.

Beautiful, light and expensive garbage
Yes it's light, looking good, Field of view is great and airflow is very good. but......
After riding for a year with my 200$ Caberg Duke II this one is:
Loud like hell + crazy wind noise inside helmet.
The build quality is probably like 100$ helmet because my 200$ Caberg is much better quality.
The assembly feels cheap and after two month of usage some things wear off and felt off. The chin guard is always coming off when i put the helmet on and off.
The helmet is 100% Made in China!!!!!
I'm disappointed.

The more I use it, the more I like it
Picked up am AGV SM in the White/Carbon flavor and of course, it's beautiful and light, but we all knew that was a given. It's like seeing that petite model in a magazine, sure she looks amazing, and you know she'll cost a lot, but is she worth it and can you live with her every day?

First off the fit is a little different than a Neotec II or a C3. The first thing I noticed was how shallow the side cheek pads come forward as opposed to the Shoei, which come all the was down 3/4 of my jawline. The SM cheek pads stay further back, so it just felt different coming from a full face. I wear a Medium in just about everything Shoei, so the Medium SM cheek pads felt tight for a while as the pressure point was squarely on my TMJ and it took some getting used to.

Secondly was the chin strap people talk so much about. I thought to myself "It can't be that bad can it?" - Well if I had to make a decision on this helmet based on my impressions over the first 5 minutes, I'd have sent it back. Because the cut of the helmet brings everything further back (see cheek pads) than other modulars, it brings the chin strap further back as well. It feels different for sure, but I kept it a hair looser than I would my race helmet and that helped for sure. I've also experimented with tucking the chin strap padding up and out of the way and that was made a difference. That padding can be cut to a shorter length and it might make a huge difference to some, and for me I've gotten used to the strap as long as I don't cinch it down super tight.

On the street I ride a FZ-09 with a Puig windscreen and the first thing I noticed was how absolutely neutral the helmet stays in the wind. Buffeting is kept at an absolute minimum. This is a big deal for me as fighting a helmet on a naked for me, leads to neck fatigue after being on the bike all day. I thought the weight was going to be the reason my neck thanked me but combined with the aero on this helmet, I've put over 1000 miles on it and its just amazing in that aspect.

I love the way the helmet fits my head and my face. I ride with a Heat-Out CoolR skull cap mostly to keep my earplugs in. With this helmet, I am not using comms yet so I have a pair of bluetooth earbuds I ride with (the tip must have wings to stay in my ears) and this helmet fits so well. I have removed the small speaker-sized pad from both sides to allow a tad more room for my earbuds, otherwise it was pushing the speaker into my ear creating pressure after about an hour or so. Once I removed the pad it was perfect. The vents are adequate, and once on the freeway and I open the top vent, I can feel the airflow pulling heat from my head even with the the skull cap on. The front vent is like any front vent. Need your teeth dried? The chin bar comes very close to my face, which is fine by me. I'm not into long chin bars on helmets and I love the way the close chin bar created a smaller overall helmet.

The visor is super clean works like it should. I got used to the center lock face shield very quickly and it is nice a nice quality. The drop down is a great feature. I often ride with the drop down deployed and the face shield up and that is good to about 50 mph. When I get off from work the sun is in my eyes and I wish the drop down was darker, and I don't see any options to change it out. I have purchased a dark smoke face shield and it is plenty dark so that is a nice option.

So after 2 weeks and 1000+ miles I have to say that this helmet is getting better every time I ride with it. As its padding breaks in, it fit me more and more like a glove. The cheek padding is now supple and very comfortable and I had some concerns initially. My neck thanks me for the aero in this helmet and the fact that its about a pound lighter than the competition. Plus the ability to keep it on when I gas up, or look for something in my tail bag, or wanna pound some water or a Red Bull make this an amazing everyday choice for me.
Plus the bling factor is never underestimated. It's like oh you rock a modular? Then they see the AGV logo and it's like oh you rock a Sportmodular???

Could have been perfect but......
Like others in this review section, I was looking forward to this helmet as my next. But the chinstrap is an issue that can't be overlooked. Make the strap tight like it's supposed to be and it was choking me. Not kinda, not sorta, actually choking me. Oh well.

SUPER LIGHT!!!
They aren't kidding, this thing is insanely light. If you can compare it with the Schuberth or Shoei in person, it's a remarkable difference.

Having tried all of them on, the "Sportmodular" has a sportier fit. It's tighter in the cheekpads and has more of an all encompassing fit. The Schuberth and Shoei have a plush "touring" feel to them, but don't feel quite as secure as the Sportmodular. I personally like the security, but I was with some friends who thought it was too tight. YMMV.

It maybe could be quieter, but I haven't had a chance to compare riding to the Shoei and Schuberth. It doesn't seem loud, but I still would like to compare.

Sena fits perfect, no problems. Ventilation is solid, but I had to remove the chin curtain for summer riding. It blocked too much air, which will probably be good once the temps start to drop.

Overall, 3k miles in and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Does this lid come with speaker cutouts for a sena comm setup?
A shopper on Jan 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes. If you remove the ear pads you can fit a comm system.
They need a transition visor on it and it’ll be perfect. The transitions don’t get quite dark enough, buttttt combine it with the drop down and you’ll be all set no matter what the conditions. Here’s to hoping. Does AGV make a transition visor? 🤞🏻
Keoni F on Nov 12, 2017
BEST ANSWER: No they do not.
Same question. Can I install SENA 20s??
Joseph H on Feb 7, 2018
BEST ANSWER: There are rumors of a unit specific to this helmet coming later this year, like the Neotec2 has.
How about the sizing? I normally where AGV Pista size XL, so which size should I choose?
A shopper on Feb 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Stick with the XL. This helmet won't be quite as snug given the Pista is a race helmet, but the crown fitment is spot on from one model to another.
What is the diameter of the speaker cut outs?
Pat G on Apr 11, 2018
No quick release chin strap????? Any chance they will update this
John C on Mar 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Double D ring.
I have been wearing Shoei helmets for years. They fit great but I really like the look of this helmet. How does the fit compare between the two helmets? I am on the fence between this and the new NeoTec II.
Troy R on Aug 16, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The AGV is an intermediate oval and the Shoei is a long oval. AGV did not fit. Neotec does, because I a long oval. Really wanted the AGV to fit. So it depends on your head shape.
Is the clear visor UV rated? I think the tinted ones are but haven't seen anything for certain.
Ryan G on Sep 26, 2018
Will the cardo slim work with the adv modular helmet?
A shopper on Aug 14, 2018
Does this fit true to size?
kevin h on Feb 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes. The only thing to consider is how the chin strap fits. Before I bought mine, I read some reviews saying it puts pressure on your throat. It’s true, but for me isn’t unbearable. Although, I have not worn the helmet for anything longer than a two hour ride.
