Motorcycle Hand Guards FAQ's
What is the point of motorcycle hand guards?Motorcycle hand guards have two main jobs: protection and warmth. For off-road and ADV riders, they protect your hands and, more importantly, your brake and clutch levers from being broken or deflected by tree branches or in a tip-over. For street and touring riders, they act as excellent wind-blockers, keeping your hands much warmer and drier in cold or wet weather.
Do hand guards really keep your hands warmer?
Yes, they make a huge difference in cold weather. By blocking the cold wind from directly hitting your hands, they allow your gloves (and heated grips, if you have them) to work much more effectively. For a touring or commuting bike, they're one of the best upgrades you can make for cold-weather comfort.
Will any hand guard fit my motorcycle?
Not always. Fitting hand guards can be tricky, as you have to work around your bike's specific brake lines, cables, and handlebar bends. Many hand guards are "universal," but it's always best to look for a set that is confirmed to fit your specific motorcycle model to avoid installation headaches.
