Video: Bike thieves hurl acid on rider who tries to stop them

Aug 16, 2016

Robertas Ceinorius had no dog in this fight, but he stepped in anyway to try to stop thieves from stealing a sport bike from a shopping center in England. He ended up with acid in his face and a broken arm.

It's not like the theft was hard to spot. From Ceinorius' video, we can see the thieves using a grinder to remove a lock from the bike. He tries to get help by asking a bystander to call the police and then circles the theft in progress. One of the criminals throws a corrosive material at him. British media reports show his backpack, which was damaged by the acid. Fortunately, his face was not injured.

Once the thieves get the bike free and take off, Ceinorius tries to follow them, but one of the gang knocks him over, injuring his arm and damaging his Honda.

The owner of the stolen 2009 Yamaha YZF-R1, Ben Hardingham, set up a GoFundMe campaign to raise money to pay for the damages to Ceinorius' motorcycle and gear.

What would you do if you saw a theft in progress?
