With the American and European motorcycle manufacturing faux pas scrutinized in previous seasons of the podcast, our dynamic duo sets their sights on The Land of the Rising Sun.
Joined by Abhi Eswarappa of Iconic Motorbike Auctions, Spurg and Zack tackle the most difficult blunders episode yet. Japanese manufacturers are often respected for their over-engineered reliability, innovation, and affordability. But what bikes have failed to deliver on that promise? What if that promise is a bad thing? What if being overly pragmatic doesn’t align with the visceral expectations of the consumer?
As with American Blunders and European Blunders, it’s important to note that this is all in good fun. Who are we to judge the decisions of the behemoths that are The Big Four of Japanese motorcycle manufacturing? Just some guys with a microphone who haven’t sold any motorcycles that we’ve manufactured by ourselves. But we’ve owned some, we’ve ridden many, and we did our best to create a fun yet educational look back at where Japan’s biggest manufacturers of motorcycles — Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Yamaha — may have missed their intended marks.
