Here at Common Tread, we try to uphold a tradition of giving credit to other content creators on this world wide web. The time has come, yet again, to spotlight the brilliant Colin Furze.
Among the many triumphs of Furze’s eponymous YouTube channel, a couple of months ago he made a two-wheeled pizza-delivery vehicle to rule them all.
Apart from being an excellent 18 minutes of video as a whole, there are plenty of bits for a motorcyclist to like. Saving the old two-stroke Suzuki that he used to power his mobile pizza oven instead of butchering it has got to be at the top of the list, what a sweet move. The bike (a T500, perhaps?) is probably worse for wear but at least it’s not languishing in the back of some geezer’s garage waiting for a leg to kick it over.
Are there better motorcycles to use for something like this? Quieter, smoother machines that might make more sense? Absolutely, which is why the Titan was a terrific choice. Just as smokey and obnoxious as a pizza oven mounted to a motorbike. The fact that his test ride included spinning lazy donuts in a grassy clearing is great, too, and with his feet up. Some good ol’ fashioned redneck fun, and skill, on display.
My colleague Ari and I have mixed food and bikes a couple of times in the past. Once, delivering pre-made pizzas on fast motorcycles — and boy did Mr. Furze put us to shame with his invention. Another time, we rode across northern Thailand and sold hamburgers out of a scooter with a sidecar, which is also not as good an idea as the Pizza Dough-Moto.
Others here on Common Tread have dabbled, too. From the folks who put together the Ural sidecar with a coffee station on board, to our contributor who experimented with using a motorcycle to deliver food via app-based services. Colin Furze, as usual, is on a whole different level — from his mechanical acumen to fabrication skills. If you’re not one of the nearly 13 million people who already frequent his channel, buckle up.
