Some motorcyclists are easy to please. All they really want is a sunny day, a dry road, and a full tank of gas. But that doesn't help when you're shopping for others during the holiday season.
For those riders on your gift list who are harder to find the right present for, here's a selection of products to consider. See our list below and watch the video for even more ideas.
And since the perfect gift for someone else often makes the perfect present for yourself, go to the product's page and click on the "Drop a hint" feature to tell the people who might be shopping for you that you’d love one, too.
Lexin P5 Smart Pump
Tire pressure is one of those things you should check before every ride. But airing up a low tire can be a hassle, especially if you have to ride to the gas station on your half-flat tire to find an air pump. With the Lexin P5 Smart Pump, you don't even have to leave the garage to air up your tires quickly and easily.
The heart of the P5 is a fan-cooled 5000 MaH lithium-ion cell with enough juice to add a few pounds to a low tire or inflate a completely flat one. The pressure setting is programmable from two to 150 psi, and there’s a USB-A outlet for airing up — sorry, charging up — your phone or other electronic devices. Other conveniences include a built-in flashlight and digital pressure monitoring. As handy as the P5 Smart Pump is in the garage, it's also compact enough to fit in a saddlebag or tail pack for roadside flat repair or adjusting pressures as you go from road to off-road riding, if you're an adventurous type.
REAX Bridger riding shirt
What's more important in riding gear, safety or style? You don't have to choose between them with the REAX Bridger riding shirt. It's made of ripstop fabric and lined with 100GSM aramid knit lining. That takes care of the slide. For the fall, there's CE Level 2 armor at the shoulders and elbows.
The REAX Bridger is as convenient as it is safe. Its styling means you can wear it almost anywhere without drawing stares. There's a waterproof interior pocket for your phone, zippered hand-warmer pockets at the front, and chest pockets with snap-down flaps. Rounding out the features is reflective piping at the elbows, adjustable snap cuffs, and a pocket for an optional back protector.
PowerTye adjustable cargo net
It's the little things that count, but they’re also the things that can fall off your bike if you secure them with a cargo net full of holes. Most cargo nets come with a 3-inch-by-3-inch mesh that doesn’t secure your stuff well enough to keep it from squirming through the gaps. The PowerTye cargo net has a finer two-inch-by-two-inch mesh to keep sweatshirt sleeves and backpack straps from coming loose and flopping in the wind.
The PowerTye comes with six removable plastic hooks that are kind to your bike's finish. To hold tight to smaller loads, just pull an inner cord over an additional hook. Small enough to keep in your tank bag, big enough to secure a bulky jacket or briefcase, the PowerTye measures 15 inches by 15 inches unstretched, and at full stretch it's 30 by 30. There's even a choice of colors.
Trackside Roll On wheel chock
Motorcycles exist in a constant struggle with gravity, and sometimes finding a way to keep them upright during service or transport is a challenge. The Trackside Roll On wheel chock is a multi-purpose gravity fighter, perfect for securing your bike in a van or pickup, and handy in the garage when it's time to change oil or tires.
The Trackside can be bolted into a pickup bed or on a trailer, and comes with built-in tie-down anchors. It fits all 15-to-21-inch tires up to 140 mm wide. Measuring 21 inches wide by 24 inches deep, it doesn't take up a lot of room in the garage, and its sturdy steel construction means it will last for years.
Kriega US-20 Drypack
All-weather riders know the importance of waterproof riding gear, and demand the same high standards of their luggage. The Kriega US-20 Drypack holds 20 liters of cargo and is 100% waterproof. It attaches to the rear of the bike with buckle loops and alloy hook straps, and comes with removable shoulder and waist straps so it can be carried courier style.
An anti-slip mesh base doubles as a pocket to store the shoulder and waist straps. No rain cover is required and the pack is easily removed by four quick-release buckles so there's no fiddling with balky attachment gear while you're getting soaked. The Drypack can be mounted inline or across the seat, and there's even an optional tank adaptor so you can use the US-20 as a tank bag.
LEGO Ducati Panigale V4
If your heart yearns to own an exotic Italian superbike, but the price tag makes that heart stop, here's an alternative. This LEGO Technic building kit was developed in collaboration with Ducati and comes with a racing stand for display, a turning front wheel, and working front and rear suspension.
The LEGO Duc is over 12 inches long, six inches high, and three inches wide, and comes with a two-speed gearbox, a first for LEGO Technic motorcycles. Among the 646 pieces are detailed parts that make the bike special, like the kickstand, dashboard, and windshield. And of course it comes in red.
Motul Chain Care Kit
Lubing and adjusting the drive chain are tasks that sometimes are put off until long past the point where they'll help. The trick is to lube and clean a chain regularly, before it turns into a rattling string of worn-out links and starts dragging on the ground.
The Motul Chain Care Kit comes with 9.2 ounces of C2 on-road lube or C3 off-road lube. A double-sided chain-cleaning brush is included to remove caked-on lube, dirt, and other debris that can damage sprockets and O-rings. Included is a pair of nitrile gloves to keep the lube off your hands.
Bilt V3 helmet bag
Your helmet's job is to protect you while you ride. The least you can do is return the favor when you're carrying your helmet around off the bike. Bilt's V3 helmet bag fits both street and off-road helmets and is made of 1680D textile material with foam panel inserts. Soft interior lining protects your graphics, and the heavy-duty, non-skid, high-grip bottom keeps the helmet in place.
The V3 comes with 37 mm nylon webbing handles and a hook-and-loop wrap handle. Exterior pockets are perfect for storing cleaning cloths and spray bottles, and the tough YKK zipper will last for years. The bag measures 10 inches wide, 15 inches long, and 13 inches high, and has a 32-liter capacity.
Stockton Alarm Disc Lock
Motorcycle thieves are nothing if not persistent. Put a lock on a bike and if they can't cut it, they'll lift the whole bike into a van. Try that with the Stockton Alarm Disc Lock, however, and the entire neighborhood — including you — will know what they're up to.
The stainless-steel Alarm Disc Lock fits virtually any motorcycle or scooter with disc brakes. Any attempt to move it or tamper with it is greeted with an ear-piercing 110-decibel alarm. The lock is easy to activate and disable with the provided keys and comes with a carry pouch and a reminder cable so you don't forget and try to ride off without removing it.
Ryobi Cordless Power Cleaner
Hey you — yeah, you, standing there in the middle of nowhere, next to your muddy bike or quad at the end of a day of riding. How are you going to keep from getting the inside of your truck or van filthy? You're gonna get a portable, battery-operated Ryobi Cordless Power Cleaner.
All the Ryobi needs is a water source — a bucket or a garden hose — to throw a powerful stream at dirt and road grime (but not chains, electrical components, or brake master cylinders, right?). It has three power settings ranging from 100 to 600 psi, and its portability makes it perfect for cleaning the muck off of dirt bikes and quads out in the field, or washing and rinsing street bikes at home. It comes with a 20-foot siphon hose, and the battery is good for 25 minutes of run time.
Canyon Dancer Bar Harness II
Sometimes tying down a motorcycle without scratching the paint or cracking the plastic is harder than it sounds. The Canyon Dancer Bar Harness II waltzes around that problem by hooking onto the handgrips for safe and secure transportation.
An update of the original Canyon Dancers, the Bar Harness II now uses polycarbonate cups, reinforced with steel and closed on one end to prevent sliding up the grip, that slip over the handgrips and position the straps clear of plastic parts. The cross straps are held farther away from the switchgear, too.
ZLA gear
You've seen the videos, listened to the podcast, and read Common Tread, so you know Zillans are cooler than a polar bear's butt. Now you can be, too, in a ZLA T-shirt or hoodie with logos that mark you as one of the ZLA Army.
For fans of fast-paced moto banter and (mostly) informed opinions, there's the Highside/Lowside T-shirt, made of 100% heavyweight cotton and available in standard sizing. Or maybe your current mood is better reflected by the 60/40 cotton-polyester T-shirt with "The Ride Is Calling" logo on the chest and additional graphics on the arm. The CTXP Aspen T-shirt commemorates a famous — some say infamous — video reenacting an iconic moment in moto-cinema. The RevZilla Hoody keeps you warm with a 7.8-ounce 50/50 cotton-polyester blend, patented low-pill high-stitch-density fleece, and a front pouch pocket.
