Authorities seize $40 million motorcycle collection tied to alleged drug kingpin

Dec 31, 2025

On Monday, the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Los Angeles Division announced that Mexican authorities confiscated a trove of motorcycles in connection with alleged drug kingpin and former Olympic snowboarder Ryan Wedding.

Comprised of MotoGP prototypes, race replicas, and rare collector's models, the collection is estimated to be worth $40 million. The motorcycles may be in police custody, but Wedding, a Canadian national, remains at large.

In October 2024, the FBI indicted the 44-year-old suspect on multiple drug trafficking charges. By March, the agency added Wedding to its Ten Most Wanted Fugitives list. The Bureau believes he currently resides in Mexico, from which he oversaw a “transnational drug trafficking operation that routinely shipped hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Colombia, through Mexico and Southern California, to Canada, and other locations in the United States.”

A North American Affair: The FBI is working alongside the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Los Angeles Police Department, and Mexican authorities to track down Wedding, a Canadian citizen. FBI photos.

In furtherance of those crimes, Wedding was also allegedly “involved in orchestrating multiple murders,” including the slaying of a potential witness. Those offenses led the U.S. Department of State's Narcotics Rewards Program to post a $15 million reward for anyone providing information that leads to Wedding’s arrest.

Unfortunately, authorities haven’t established whether the motorcycles factor into Wedding’s operation or how the seizure aids the active investigation. Is Wedding a motorcycle enthusiast? Is he a MotoGP fanatic? (The bikes of Rossi, Lorenzo, and Márquez sure suggest so.) Are those million-dollar test mules being used as drug mules?

At this point, there are more questions than answers, but if there’s any question worth asking, it’s when and where is the police auction? I see a few worthy track bikes that I’d like to drop some pesos on.
