Two Brothers S1R Slip-On Exhaust Honda VFR800

The Two Brothers S1R Slip-On Exhaust represents a step into the future for TBR. The S1R exhaust features a carbon fiber sleeve highlighted by a natural aluminum outlet and stamped, spring-mounted inlet for the ultimate durability. Like most TBR mufflers, the end cap of the S1R exhaust is constructed of magnesium and features a non-stick teflon coating. However, that is where the similarities end.

The aggressive design of the end cap is reminiscent of the modern jet engine making this exhaust move at mach 1 speeds while standing still. The carbon fiber sleeve of the S1R exhaust system is made of a 33 million modulus rated carbon fiber that is impregnated with high temperature resin, under very tight tolerances. Thirty-three million modulus rated carbon fiber can be considered the Goldilocks of carbon fiber , it has strong structural properties without being overly stiff and brittle, making it just right.

The sound produced by the S1R is deep and throaty thanks to its spiral-wound perforated core technology. The rubber-lined, natural finished aluminum muffler clamps feature an aggressive angular design and cutouts to reduce weight. The mid-pipe is constructed from .035” thick 304 stainless steel. After a few heat cycles the 304 steel turns a golden amber color, the hallmark of quality stainless. Of course an exhaust can't be all show and no go, that is why the S1R exhaust is track-tested and dyno-tuned to offer the best performance package.

really wakes up the Interceptor!
Almost 6 more horses, 6lbs lighter for less than $600 = win, win, win. Stock can sounds like a sewing machine and 2bros can sounds great without being to loud, install was a piece of cake. Great product and made in US!

Attention to detail and customer service flaws
I purchased this for my 2014 Honda Interceptor, the version meant for the OEM bags.

It was a pain in the ass to install, though it should have been simple. I realized that they'd sent me the wrong midpipe, as the angles were wrong and the spring holders didn't align properly.

I contact Revzilla, who says to contact TwoBros, as they handle their own warranties. Not a problem.

I contact them, and after a couple discussions, they agree I have the wrong midpipe, so they're going to send out the correct one.

I then ask about getting a replacement hanger, as in my efforts to get it to fit it got a little tweaked, though it's still usable.

Keep in mind the bike is sitting in the garage with the exhaust off, and I've already wasted an hour trying to get it to work.

The rep says if I want to buy one I can go on their website. I go on the website, and I see it's only $17. SEVENTEEN DOLLARS. Basically an aluminum ring and a piece of rubber.

I send a follow up message asking if they can throw it in, as I've been inconvenienced, and the only reason mine is tweaked is because of their error in giving the wrong part.

His response is that they cannot do that, and the best they can offer is free shipping. Really? For a part that's $16.99 and weighs next to nothing?

I send off a letter saying that I buy a lot of exhausts, as U go through a new bike a year. I mention that I usually use Akrapovic, but I wanted to give them a try. I tell them it's hardly a recipe for customer loyalty, and if I need one after all, I'll just buy it myself.

I then mention that it hasn't been a very positive experience, and I do not plan to buy a TwoBros product again.

Keep in mind that I was very factual and was not rude. I received no response.

When I had got the bike to run (with the wrong midpipe), it indeed sounded much better, though I couldn't ride it yet to see if the power characteristics were any different.

The finish looked good, both on the midpipe and the muffler, though I'd have liked to see better instructions (even though it's generally not a super difficult process to install a slip-on.)

Personally, I'll not buy anymore of their products, as I feel their customer service is very poor, and I'm not sure how a product that specifically has two different versions, still gets sent out with the wrong midpipe.

If you have the confidence that they'll give you the correct product, I assume it will be a decent exhaust. But I'm not a fan.

Looks good, sounds better
Installation was easy, the entire process, removal and installation, took about 20 minutes. The instructions were good and even the anti seize compound was supplied.
The exhaust carbon fiber has a nice 3D look. The increase in sound level was quite noticeable being deeper and more authoritative.
As for a power increase, I live on a mountain and with the stock pipe, climbing the grade in 6th at 50 to 60 mph, the bike tended to shudder as if it was lugging...because it was. With the Two Brothers, that shudder is gone. Hit the throttle and it does shake until it revs up but at least at cruise it is better.
My only concern with the installation is where the Two Brothers pipe connects to the Honda pipe, there is a little lateral movement in the spring held connection. It is not a solid as the stock connection.
One last thing, as this bike has been and will go on more coast to coast rides, I prefer a quite system. I got the noise reduction insert (from Two Brothers) that slips in under the exhaust tip. The sound level is just about back to stock level (but with a better deeper sound) with no loss in power.
