Warm hands happy rider
The kit is well packaged with clear instructions on how to fit it with fairly helpful online videos too.

I added a relay and ran the power via that so that the grips turn off with the ignition and cannot draw power if I forget to switch them off.
They warm up fairly quickly and get a good temp which is controllable via the unit provided.

The controller has various mounts provided to work with different types of bikes. I found it a tight squeeze on the stock handlebars on my R1 as there is not really much room but got it attached to the brake block on the throttle side. It is rugged metal made unit and looks like it will last well.

The types of wire connectors in the kit are not high quality so I did not use them to ensure good reliable connections.

The install took about 3 hours as I was trying to make the wiring as tidy as possible and wanted to make sure I had the most intelligent routing for my bike.

I really like that I can use the grips I like online the other brands where you have to use their grips which I find too bulky for my sports bike.

Its Autumn here and I can still use my summer gloves for a better feel of the bike, using the grips set on the second lowest setting my hands are kept nicely warm.
Bring on winter!

Heated Grips on Sportbike
So I always thought heated grips were kind of silly, but I have a number of family and friends who have had them and loved them. Of course they all ride heavy cruisers, but a buddy of mine has a BMW S1000RR with heated grips. Last fall we were talking about them and he said he'd never own another bike with out them. So I figured I was game for anything that help extend my riding season and made it more comfortable. Ordering as usual with Revzilla was quick and simple. The only delay I had was the UPS driver wouldn't come down my road because of the snow.

I installed them on my 2009 R6, install took me a couple of hours. I invested in a relay and a few other things so they run on a separate power wire off the battery and automatically shutoff when the bike is turned off. I have ridden in 25 degree temperatures and can not believe how much of a difference they make, I live in MI and have already had the bike out a few times. They warm up pretty quick and with the multiple settings for temperature they are amazingly comfortable.

I am reasonably sure my wife will have me ordering a second set for her SV650S this fall.

Symtec could use a bit of Quality Control
The bottom bar clamp for the heat control unit was bent on the item that shipped to me, such that the screw holes did not line up. Poor metal casting I guess. As received I could not mount the control unit to my handlebars. It was a royal pain to bend the clamp into allignment so that the heat control unit could be mounted. Other than that the Symtec Heat Demon External heaters are pretty sweet. They get very warm, and are almost too hot on the hottest setting. I would buy them again and recommend them to anyone. Be careful wiring them in to avoid battery drain should you forget to turn them off! I wired them so that the power is cut to them when I remove the key, because I know I am forgetful like that and would inevitably one day return to a dead battery..

I have a Yamaha YZF-R1 2013 and would like to put heated grips on it, would these be suitable? I have also noticed on throttle side has the appropriate fixings (the clutch side does not), would this matter what side the controller goes on?

BEST ANSWER: I put these on an R6, the switch required some creativity. They work great and started my season a month earlier then my buddies.
